Ten Shot Overnight (UPDATE - 14, no 16!)
Chicago has to be averaging almost five shot a night lately, right? Double that last night:
- Ten people were shot across Chicago Friday evening and into Saturday morning, according to police.
These crime strategies are working amazingly badly. Sure, the shootings "in the box" might be down, but everywhere else, they're out of hand and there just aren't enough cops to put in any more boxes. We're stretched to thin and summer is likely to break it.

One of the points that we teach is the Kansas City Study of the 1970's which states that "Increased police presence does not necessarily reduce crime". This premise is the basis of Community Policing and every other political shell game supported by political hack police administrators and politicians cutting police budgets. The Reality is, and I mean the real Reality is that an increased police presence DOES reduce crime. We saw this when Fat Phil deployed office cops into Da Hood. Simply placing cops who had absolutely no intention of doing anything but to sit there, actually reduced crime. It worked! White folks driving in to cop dope were afraid of arrest. Dealers moved to other areas where there were no officers. Using that experience it should be clear that taking officers out of areas is going to encourage crime in those areas, especially areas like 016. It is realized that we will never have 13,000 officers again, because the City has shrunk. Yet we must also realize that you cannot keep taking people out of certain areas and assume that crime will go down in those areas. Communities and Peoples' lives are at stake.,
These people are shot as a result of Mayor Rahm Emmanuels and Superintendent Garry McCarthys failed policies and poor leadership. On behalf of the Citizens of the City of Chicago, I call for their immediate resignations.

The Kansas City study was flawed you idiot. You call yourself a college professor? Presence alone does not reduce crime. Proactive policing works. Under Cline, the officers assigned to high crime areas made numerous stops and found guns and drugs. Today beat cops are stuck in boxes unwilling to use proactive tactics from the past. Was at Chicago and Wabash at about 9:30 this evening having some fro yo with a friend. There were mobs of teenage kids clogging up the sidewalks and blocking most, if not all the streets during the light changes. All of these kids were black, and clearly looking to start something as they were all yelling and screaming at each other constantly. Things came to a head about ten minutes later on Wabash right in front of Chik Fil A. Cops showed up, and I thought everyone would scatter. Not so. Once the tear gas came out my friend and I got the hell out of there. It's only March! What's to come in June, July, August when temps really heat up?!

CPD policy is all police 911 calls get assigned to a PO to respond.
The 009 Sgt is 100% wrong.
A CR should be issued, sustained, and Sgt suspended.
The Dispatcher knows this is improper conduct.
The Dispatcher should also be suspended.
We are understaffed. This “clearing the board” does not help us. In fact, it hurts us.
“Clearing the board” makes it look like we have an adequate number of officers.
Why should a Sgt or Dispatcher stick their necks out?
Everybody knows that if any of those jobs “go bad” the Sgt would be “Cozzied.”
Why should we take risks to help the city?
Let the city change the dispatch policy (acknowledging Chicago does not have enough police officers) or hire more police.

I remember that murder/err homicide well it was right outside of Hale School, girls in 8th grade,with 2 gang banging punks in car the cowards that killed the girls did not shoot the gang banging morons tragic scene! Beat 920 coding all jobs 19-P because they were in a RAP is crazy. If I as a P.O. Did this I would be fired. How can he get away with coding any job he has know idea what's going on. The call takers take the call and sometimes the job is not what's listed. It could be a lot more serious then listed. Or things could get out of hand because no police are coming. This could really back fire. This Sgt should be up on charges of failure to do his duty.

The guilty was 920 3rd Watch on 16 March 2012. Maybe this will be helpful for the CR investigation. It will be easy to find it on the tapes. He said it to the dispatch and the relief dispatcher. Both dispatchers went along with it. The dispatchers will be left holding the bag if something bad happens. To all dispatchers turn on your light and tell your boss what this or any other one who wants to trick bag you. Then you are truly covered. Let the bosses take the time.

I have seen it where the father is scared to death of the kid and the mother is like a terrible roaring bear defending everything the little shit does. This was Hiawatha Park crowd -- just as bad. Kid's laughing his head off at both of them and keeps right on throwing rocks.

I was born waaay downstate a long time ago, spent a couple years living in the Chicago area, and write this as an IL expat who got out in the 80s, w/o regret.

If IL citizens had not allowed themselves to be stripped of their 2nd Amendment rights, many of the irredeemable scum you're dealing with at the moment would be in body bags where they belong - put there by the citizens they would otherwise assault/rob/maim/murder - and not roaming the streets terrorizing a disarmed populace and a shamefully undermanned police force.
