This is a Joke, Right?

Someone please tell us this is a joke:
  • McCarthy is redesigning a new CPD patch for patrol. It includes the city skyline.

    Everyone's on the street, but apparently there is still time for this nonsense at R&D.

Without even going into the whole "first issue" stuff, don't we have about 100 other things to be worrying about?

Stop trying to leave your mark McCompStat. Our traditions here are just fine. We've been policing in Chicago for over 150 years now. You missed your chance after St. Sabina's with your anti-gun government conspiracy bullshit and maybe even years ago shooting out streetlights and the traffic ticket fiasco.

Hmmm, I think I have about 10 long and 10 short sleeve shirts, leather jacket (that's a leather patch), spring coat, fall coat, reefer, blouse, and 2 sweaters. Dozens shot every weekend, and we're coming up with new logos?!?! Glad to see what the priorities are.

YOU CAN SMELL THE DESPERATION FROM HERE!

Really? Redesign THE CPD patch?

This jackhole is presiding over the destruction of THE MUTHAFUCKIN' CHICAGO PO-LEECE DEPARTMENT and he wants to "leave his mark" by redesigning our insignia?

Really?

Why dontcha just scribble something on the shit house wall?

JAYZUS!

This sounds like something j-fled would want to conjure up!

McStoolsample obviously spent half his life impersonating a cop because there is no way a REAL POLICEMAN would lower himself to this.

A carpetbagging political whore?

Hmmm... That a different story.

Just go away. Please, just go away.

It was finally deemed politically incorrect that the Indian, after seeing the slave ship coming to port, holds his hand against his head and says, "oy vey, there goes the neighborhood".
(Or it has to do with ousting Columbus & Pulaski from the city history books.)
City skyline and a hoodie thug holding a stolen iPhone (calling his girlfriend) on Oak St. beach is more appropriate for today's image.

who cares if there is a new patch. I remember the current ones coming in the 80'2, so there is certainly no long history. We bitched because we had to cew on new patches, but in reality, the old ones where the unit designator had to be sewed on every shirt and jacket after a change of unit was a pain. The uniforms need a makeover. Dark shirts? Yes for starters. I am retired, and I hate to say this, but most of the Chicago officers I encounter when I come back to the city look like they just climbed out of bed and never learned about personal grooming.

Patch not going to raise morale. A partner so you don't have to go in 10-99 and maybe get killed would raise morale.

No money for additional police, though. Just $7.5 billion for "twenty new parks," etc. Did you see the Sun-Times front page the other day? Emanuel in a yellow hard hat.

Well said sir. We do need new patches. As soon as the one's we now use came out in the early 80's, the copy-cat patches started coming out.

Our New Patches should be Exact Copies of "CHALKIE" on the Dark Blue Shirts and All Ranks should wear the same color!

They can keep those all dark blue rent a cop uniform in New York. At night or in a crowd people can tell who the police are with the light blue shirts. Our current uniforms stand out. I understand that the light blue shirts get dirty and start to look like crap after awhile. The same people at allow their light blue shirts look like will let the dark blue shirts turn to shit.

There is nothing wrong with the design of our patches, uniforms or vehicles. Our colors differentiate us from NYPD and LAPD. Don't feed into this guy trying to morph our Department completely into his immage. We have more pressing issues. This is like worrying about Trayvon and the NCAA brackets and not the gas prices and Iran.

NY firefighters may get arrest powers in arson cases
Fire chief says police are so busy that investigations are happening slowly.

ALBANY, N.Y. — In an effort to solve arsons more quickly, the District Attorney's Office may give two city firefighters the authority to interrogate suspects and make arrests.

Fire Chief Michael Della Rocco formally asked the district attorney for the privilege, and the district attorney in turn recommended it the county Legislature.

The Legislature may approve the request this week.

We need to replace the light blue shirts. The only reason for them is because light blue is psychologically less intimidatting and more relaxing to the eye. Who the hell cares!! And before any everybody starts cheering for the whole 1st issue crap, guess what, come next contract you can bet the uniform allowance is gone. Welcome to the wonderful world of the quarterly uniform voucher. Don't use it then you lose it. There will be no 1st issue on anything anymore because you will be told to go to select uniform stores and purchase the equipment with your voucher. The city's stance will be that EVERY other department goes by this system so guess what, the arbitrator will side with the city on this(and you can bet little political hack mikey shields will go along with it).

Public Safety Reorganization: $82 million in savings

The Chicago Police and Fire Departments work hand-in-hand in responding to 60-75% of all emergencies, and consolidating their headquarters will further strengthen the collaboration between these critical first responders. CPD consolidations will ensure that there are more officers on the beat.

Move Fire headquarters into Police headquarters;
Consolidate five CPD area offices and five detective bureaus into three: North, Central and South;
Consolidate 25 existing police districts into 22;
Remove police vacancies from budget.
