NY Times on Chicago Violence

The mouthpiece for the national democratic party has discovered Chicago is having crime issues:
  • Rahm Emanuel’s first reading material each morning, at 5:30, is not a budget update, a legislative proposal or a packet of headlines. It is an e-mail from the Chicago Police Department listing the crimes that were committed during the night that just ended. By 7 a.m., he is calling Garry F. McCarthy, the police superintendent. That is unlikely to be their final conversation of the day, or even of the morning.

Mr. Emanuel listed safer streets among his top three priorities when he became mayor a year ago, but Chicago, the nation’s third-largest city, is now testing that promise. Homicides are up by 38 percent from a year ago, and shootings have increased as well, even as killings have held steady or dropped in New York, Los Angeles and some other cities. As of June 17, 240 people had been killed here this year, mostly in shootings, 66 more deaths than occurred in the same period in 2011.
Once the New York Times starts making Chicago a talking point, Rahm's national ambitions are going to be sharply curtailed.

If making Chicago streets safer was one of Rham's top three priorities he is failing miserably. Mr. mayor NEVER should have LIED to the public about putting 1000 more officers on the street. Maybe he was misinterpreted and actually said "reduce" the number of officers by over 1000 because that is what he did by not hiring new officers at a pace to keep up w/ retirement and by eliminating over 1000 officers from the police budget. One of the other hot topics as of late is the violence on the CTA. Well, you can add FORREST CLAYFOOL into the line of stupid politicians to blame for that. You see, when the last academy class of 50 graduated that class was paid for by the CTA and 50 officers were assigned to Mass Transit when these recruits graduated. That's great. But what CALYFOOL also did was cut out a side job that off duty police officers could sign up to work called CTA special employment. By eliminating that side job there are approx. 150 LESS police officers -EACH DAY- working on the city's mass transit lines such as the "L" and the buses. The best part is these officers were only making straight time....not
time+1/2. Shortly CLAYFOOL will try to reinstate special employment because of all the people biend robbed, mugged, flash mobbed, raped, and pillaged or whatever the CPD brass wants to call it these days and I hope all the officers stick it to him and REFUSE TO WORK for less than time+1/2.

The new york times, like most publications, is a tool. When they stress something you must ask your self who would gain, why now and what else is going on that ties in.
The USSR would be proud !

Rahm normally would gloat over national attention.... this isn't the kind of national attention he's looking for.
Hey Rahm a hearty fuck you. You reap what you sow.
Remember you're so much smarter than everyone else and have all the answers right??

As I sit and read many words written by good people I have to ask. While all of these stats are put together around Chicago and around the country,Has anyone ever counted the amount of shooters that had registered guns? Or legal guns?
My guess is no. So why we sit back and read the newspapers, emails etc. The law makers and Obummer is fighting against guns and not the criminals who just happen to own guns. Just maybe the law makers have less brains then the bad guys?

Rahm needs to fade into the sunset like the whole Whitehouse regime.

He has NOT done anything dynamic for Chicago and all the fluff pieces written about him show how shallow the Chicago Press is.

Where are the real journalists in the media's sea of political groupies, who are more like star-struck girls at a Justin Bieber concert than objective reporters going after the hardcore stories?

There is so much spin in Chicago News the reporter should be named Kenmore Maytag.

You have to love the Press and the PR garbage that they are fed--it's not their fault since who knows what Rahm is doing at 7 AM?

I heard that the ONLY thing he is working on is Obama's election.

Went to Thee Rant and read the NYT article and comments. The mayor and the city are getting trashed and the dirty little secret about the out of control violence is getting exposed, finally!
Unfortunately it may be too little too late, the city of Chicago may already be Too Far Gone!

"Once the New York Times starts making Chicago a talking point, Rahm's national ambitions are going to be sharply curtailed."

Oh, yeah, this has gotta have him screaming day and night.

Motherf__er engineering bicycle bridges through a war zone, new trains for flashmobs to get downtown faster.

What can you say? He wanted "diversity." He wanted "multiculturalism." He wanted a "Sanctuary City." Not for himself, but for everyone else.

Keep the police around your house day and night, send your kids to a private school, and when your term is up, run away with your bag of money and become another "consultant" of some kind -- like Daley, teaching other cities how to sell themselves off piece by piece to the highest bidder.

Stockton, California just became the largest American city to go bankrupt.

There is a limit here. Every town in America is not going to be able to save itself following the Daley selloff model. There is such a thing as the market becoming saturated.

We are surrounded by a growing number of municipalities that can't even pay their water bills.

The advertising space on buses and trains, the naming rights to buildings, sports stadiums, etc. won't be worth much if nobody in the city has the money to buy things "at the Apple Computer Store L Stop."

This is utter desperation.

It started years ago -- people who ride buses and trains can't even see properly out the windows anymore because of that advertising screen-printed all over.

They have even sold off your vision -- your right to see where you are.

Detroit is shutting off street lighting in some areas...

No, it's intentional. They know perfectly well what they're doing.

They hate ordinary people, they can't stand normalcy and stability, and they are doing everything they can to make daily life a hyperanxious, expensive living hell in a dangerous, fragmented, destabilized Somalia of a society while keeping things staggering along just enough to guarantee themselves a fat paycheck.

All this fuss amuses them no end.

Latest evolving problem -- first all the kids are getting ADHD, and now Supermom is getting into their Adderall. "Mixed amphetamine salts."

When she burns that script out, she turns to meth.

Drive you crazy, then drive you crazier.

Sick, elderly people are having to fight uphill, losing battles against a united front of "aides" and "providers" and other second-rate substitutes for medical care to get something utterly harmless for a bad back, while in the suburbs and comfy areas, the "authorities" are trying to get the affluent and uncaring to turn in their -- literally -- tons of unneeded, forgotten, potent medications.

Walk into the doctor's out in Oak Brook, say "I think I'm a dingbat? And I have, like, a broken fingernail?" and walk out with fifteen prescriptions.

You see this stuff...

Sorry Mr. Mayor but your school teachers are set to strike with a 94% approval by the membership.

The CFD is gearing up to rip you a new one during the contract negotiations. (remember you have already lost the next election for Mayor).

Finally your CPD does not support you. Look at the numbers Mr. Mayor. Comp stat says you are up nearly 40% in homicides for 2012. We are at 250 YTD and rising. The answer should be obvious to by now. Stop dragging your feet and start hiring.

In conclusion.....bye bye RAHM!!
