Suburban Shooting

  • A dispute between neighbors in south suburban Riverdale ended with police shooting a man fatally.

Police say they got a call about a disturbance between neighbors at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday. According to police, an officer saw an armed individual shooting at another person and ordered the suspect to drop the gun. When he refused, police say the officer --fearing for his life -- shot the suspect.

The man died Sunday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Police say that shooting is under investigation.

It appears pretty straightforward and an excellent job by our suburban brethren. Well done Officer.

Did this shooting involve a former Chicago ghetto resident?

I'm retired CPD, so my 1st thought is naturally that I'm glad the officer is safe.

Having said that, my 2nd thought is that it's a shame that so many people die, one way or another, over really, really, stupid shit. And, the truth is that it's never going to stop either. Oh well....

Now, an off topic question.
Going back to an earlier SCC post about OEMC. Can you still bring a dozen donuts to your zone dispatcher and be treated the rest of the night as if you had brought him diamonds? Yes, that is a rhetorical question. Just thinking of the old days and what a different time and way of doing things it was than it is today.

At least the right guy walked away from this incident.

Who cares already. 30 dead or 200, we all know which community is eating itself and doing nothing to halt the carnage. So once again, who cares?

I find it kind of funny that we always use the term we were in fear of our life. Isn't that common sense? Anyway glad the officer is safe job well done.
