Terror Charges

  • It's been nearly a month since Chicago police raided a Bridgeport home and arrested several people on charges that they were plotting an attack on the NATO summit.

In this Intelligence Report: That case is going to be the first legal test of Illinois' state terrorism law.

Even though state government has preached preparedness, since 9/11, counterterrorism law enforcement and especially prosecution has been at the federal level. Tuesday that will change in Illinois. Three men arrested just before the NATO summit are expected to be indicted on terrorism charges by a Cook County grand jury.

Come for a visit, stay for the next 25 years (if Anita can get a conviction.)

Yep the economic house of cards is about to collapse. We are still bleeding jobs and the poverty is soaring. Where's the money going to come from to pay cops overtime?

Rahm Loses It On Phone With Quinn

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, known for his temper and willingness to go toe-to-toe, reportedly lost it with Gov. Pat Quinn in a recent phone call.

A political source with knowledge of the situation who declined to be named told Ward Room Emanuel is upset Quinn wants stronger ethics rules when it comes to gaming.

All the states attorneys at 26 Street know how to do is make a plea deal.

There are a couple of big problems there - a lot of the attys are either on the take from the bad guys, or have had their families threatened so they comply with the gangs demands.

My wife woked there for about 6 weeks after becoming an attorney. She wanted to do something, and she had clerked in County Atty offices elsewhere in another major city in law school. So she knows how a real prosecutor's office works, and almost immediately, she noticed something different here. She noticed that certain prosecutors were literally acting like defense attys, and looking for holes in cases or excuses to dismiss, as opposed to trying to nail these bastards.

After a few weeks, We went out to dinner with a couple of the attys whom I believe to be straight, and they filled us in. They said a lot of the prosecutors have gone out to their cars to find envelopes under the wipers with pictures of their home & kids. Some have been approached on CTA busses or trains, or even on the street they live, with people delivering a "message" to drop all charges, plead down the charges, or request minimal sentencing. Usually the message is delivered with a gun, and includes mentioning loved ones names.

Others, they've told us, are believed to be rec'g payments from either the gangs or the gangs shyster lawyers.

Even though it was a great resume builder for her, I told my wife she absolutely had to quit, before the gangs targeted her (and me). It was the best decision we ever made. She now works a boring, mundane, but high-paying job doing transactional work that will never put her in harm's way. And we are saving as much as we can right now, to get the F out of Chicago and into the suburbs the first chance we get. Thank goodness both her firm & my company have a presence in Lake County.

Even if these assholes get off they might think twice in the future about making those Molitov Cocktails to toss at cops. Fuck them. I am sure plenty of their fellow inmates at the Crook County Jail already have.

This one is already beginning to sound even weaker for the state than it did before. Apparently these three weren't indicted on the charges that they were initially brought up on. They went in for a hearing today, and this is what resulted: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-rt-usa-crimenatol1e8hca3i-20120612,0,2596092.story

I have said it before, and I will say it again. The Cook County ASA's are not properly trained, nor compensated. It should be treated, as a full time career profession. It is a job, for clout heavy "Kids" just out of law school to use as a stepping stone. The one's I have appeared with, did not have a clue, on how to build case foundation etc.
A lot had a condensending attitude.

Hey 07:59 am, as an ASA I'm appalled that you would make up such lies. First of all, an ASA in the office would take close to 10 years to get assigned to 26th St. Second, ASA are not threatened or dirty. Quite the imagination you and your wife possess.

Supt McCarthy...stay off the TV...stop telling bad guys what your strategy is to protect the citizens in this crime ridden, terrible city.

Buy more Police Officers, hire the National Guard until the new hires are on the streets, arrest anyone with colors and gang signs,....stop the violence before it tears up this city.
