In His Own Words

Here's the Supe on WGN this morning (hopefully, this loads properly - if not, click the link):

Notice how he disregards the media reports that Chicago is a "deadly global city." He grabs all the credit he can. That would mean if August is particularly messy, he's going to grab all the blame?

He also states the Department is going to hire 500 more officers this year. There's a class of 42 that started a month ago and another of around 35 that started Monday. We've also heard that the number of candidates even showing up for the P.O.W.E.R. test is horrible low - 500 letters sent out to get 100 people to show up and 40 of those fail the physical and another 15 don't even show up for the piss test. That class of 42 wasn't budgeted at 42 - a number didn't even show up for the job.

500 sounds like a fantasy and we'll bet that 500 retire this year.

Yep struggling through the statistics with omission of certain facts so that the shifting of asking the right questions falls on the targets (us).

This allows for the personal self-deception to be re-enforced while convincing oneself that we are doing the morally correct thing.

Oh yeah, he did say something about bringing on 500 officers. However if you listen more closely he says something to the effect of " we intend to keep up with the rate of attrition" right afterwards.

In other words there will be no overall increase in the police force, just replacements for those that are leaving the force.

Hey guess what?

Mexico Dissolves Its FBI, Moves to Legalize Drugs

In a stunning development, President-elect Enrique Peña and his Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), who won control of Mexico’s government on July 1st, moved to dissolve the Agencia Federal de Investigación (AFI).

Modeled after the United States FBI, the AFI was founded in 2001 to crack down on Mexico’s pervasive government corruption and drug trafficking. With rival drug cartels murdering between 47,500 to 67,000 Mexicans over the last six years, the move by the PRI represents the total surrender of Mexico’s sovereignty back to the money and violence of Mexico’s two main drug cartels, the Sinaloa Federation and Los Zetas. Coupled with the Obama Administration’s “Dreamer” Executive Order curtailing deportations of illegal aliens, a hands-off policy on both sides of the border foreshadows a huge increase in “narco-trafficking” violence and corruption flooding into the United States.

The PRI ruled Mexico with an iron fist for 71 years between 1929 and 2000. Although the PRI claimed they were the socialist peasant’s party, they operated as a corrupt political organization that siphoned off wealth from Mexico’s nationalized oil industry with bribes for protecting the drug cartels that trafficked in marijuana and narcotics into the United States. As a glaring example of the level of official PRI corruption, in 1982 the oil workers’ union donated a $2 million house as a "gift" to President López Portillo. Mexicans often joke: “Our Presidents are elected as millionaires, but they leave office as billionaires.”

But on December 1, 2000, Vicente Fox, the former Chief Executive of Coca-Cola in Mexico and founder of the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), was elected President of Mexico. Mr. Fox ran on a platform of reforming Mexico’s pervasive police corruption, and his first move as President was to form the AFI. Under the...

The drug cartels winning the battle in Mexico will now be able to free up their military wing and redeploy it to the north maybe....like here in the sanctuary city.

Rahm and Obama keep waving them in and there's over one million work permits set to be authorized beginning AUG 15.

Gonna get interesting.

MORE police is considered an invasion? On what planet would that be?

What a complete and total crock of shit, Mr. McCarthy. You are a money-grubbing puppet of our incipid and corrupt mayor...God, I hate even calling the lowly rahm a mayor, he's such a blood-sucker.

McKissTheMayor'sAss has graduated to a lying sob attempting to cover up ineptitudes of our current mayor who should be deposed, especially considering the fact RE's promoting drug use in our city which SUPPORTS THE GANG CARTELS HERE IN CHICAGO!

Show me one non-gang member associated citizen of Chicago who prefers NOT to have the police all over their neighborhood.

Show me!

btw, I appreciated the nudging by both WGN anchors- it was clear they knew he was bullshitting, and it was interesting how they both kept asking him the right questions which he obviously had prepared to skirt with rebuttals. Too bad for him he came across as weak, shallow, hard to swallow. Your basic talking head puppet of the worst corrupt adminstration in the world, per the statistics.

An evil adminstration which is more interested in re-electing itself than in ridding our city of gangs and crime by HIRING MORE COPS.

Rahm & McLosthismind are throwing a Police Party and nobody is showing up?

Because people who may truly be interested in being The Police are seeing how shitty The Police are being treated?

Indentured servitude for 20 to 40 years with 20 years taken off your life due to stress and aggravation and people are pointing and laughing about how "you Cops aren't gonna get a pension?"

Who wants to endure the shit-talk after the broken bones, hospital trips, exposure to ghastly shit and people for 20 to 40 years?

"Take their cush pensions and early retirement away!"

Policing IS a young person's game!

Retiring young was compensation itself for the very real possibility of dying earlier than your age peers.

"Look at those Cops gettin' somethin' fer nuthin' on OUR tax dollars!"

Not quite... There's a real price being paid that no amount of money can compensate.

Economic hard times in years past and you still had 20 to 40+ thousand sitting down just to take the qualifying exam.

Remember when a CPD academy class meant 4 or 5 homerooms? 120 to 150or more people?

Now a class is barely one homeroom?

The early 80's to mid 90's Coppers were being hired like there was no tomorrow.

We. Had. Plenty. Of. Help. In Patrol.

Funny... The public co-signed on the political & media propaganda about making The Police "go away."

"Too expensive. Too much liability. Too non-politically correct. Too wedded to the blue collar ethos of the 1950's. We need tech-savvy public safety that is sensitive to the feelings of the criminal underclass they're dealing with while it is demanded they keep one hand tied behind their backs."

Why can't they attract more people?

Take a good look at City Hall & H.Q.

The city has a goal to hire 400 additional recruits this year. Yet they cannot screen enough candidates to fill a class at the academy. Each new class is budgeted for 50 recruits yet the first class was 43 and the second was 34 recruits? Why? The bottleneck occurs at the polygraph stage. HR has one polygraph tester and can only do 2-4 candidates per day. I hear we are lucky if we hire 100 recruits by the end of the year. Why not hire more polygraph testers to speed the process and reach the goal of 400 recruits? That should be a priority of HR and the superintendent. Why waste this golden opportunity to hire new recruits? Who is in charge of HR?

All you have to do is give up your right to live where you want & agree to be held to a higher standard than ANYONE else in the city. Be willing to. And fined to deathwork midnights in a place where you are hated for at least 10 yrs with a sat/sun off every 5th week and time off requests denied. Operate in an evironment where equipment dosent work, your supervisors are incopetent and the department wants to fire you. Be forced to live in a city where your standard of living will be lower than your peers in other cities making much less money. Pay 6,000.00/yr for private school. Etc...

That, and how safe the white, taxpaying citizens are because all of this violence and these murders ain't happening to us... they're all in the ghetto happening to THOSE people... those drug dealers and gang-bangers who choose to live that thug life.

More lies! We read every other day about innocent toddlers and teens caught in the crossfire, doctors in Streeterville and women robbed of their iPhones and pushed down the stairs on the CTA who are killed or injured!

What a cesspool this City has become. But at least you can now go to Lollapalooza and smoke pot and only get a ticket for it... Lets keep these dumb tourists and suburban victims coming into the city to be victimized. Its the Chicago way.

so they have to go thru about 10,000 applicants to find 1,000 who will ultimately be considered for hiring---- last time I checked they only had about 3000 at the most sit for the last exam--- getting 500 out of that group would be virtually impossible unless standards are lowered--- more comical is the new order out on the anov ticket for marijuana--- we are all supposed to have three nickels in one hand and the weed in the other hand to make sure that the estimated weight of the suspect cannabis is under 15 grams--- the department will not be providing scales to weigh suspect cannabis on the street--- you then have to take the person into the station and call in an officer who is certified to test the suspect cannabis to make sure it is really cannabis--- then dummy signs an affidavit and gets his little ticket and if he is driving the car gets impounded--- you still have to do a vice case, you still have to inventory said cannabis--- someone please tell me how this is saving officers any time from the current procedure for processing a weed pinch--- who is the simple simon who dreamed this one up....

Took the power test in 3rd week of July. Correct that there is about a 70% appearance of those who were notified. Likely the e-mail address they supplied to Dec. 2010 is no longer in use and they failed to update personnel of their new one as they only notified candidates via email. There is also about a 65% passing rate for those who do show, sit-ups and the 1.5mi run are the killers.

This happened to me, I got the notice 4 days prior after hearing about people's notices going in their SPAM folders and just checked it by chance. I had to report for the POWER test the third week of July. We only had 41 show to take the test. Not many people passed the entire thing, and several groups had extra days to do the run because of the heat. Things were not the same for everyone testing, it was so ass backwards and that poly is an absolute bitch. Even if the poly comes back inconclusive, they still fail you, and that's it.

In 1965 the population of Chicago was somewhere around 3.5 million and there were 285 homicides.

In 1974 the homicides climbed to 920 plus.

So now it hovers around 400 and people are running around all scared and worrying that the sky is falling.

There is a level at which the homicide count will not go below and we seem right near it. No matter what the police department does, unless we start public executions of evildoers, there will always be within a certain range of homicides. No matter what.

So stop with all the medical science miracles crap and if this then that or other nonsense sociological shit. The savages will always kill each other. The only way around it is for savages to stop being savages.

In other words, the body removal services seem to be good long term investments. No matter what.

You got coppers saying that it was a blessing that candidates missed the POWER Test, warning young prospects not to come to CPD, and basically laughing at the bright eyed academy grads but this guy says it himself and he is so unworthy???Whatever

Your not even on the job and your talking shit?!? Stay in whatever job you have now. Stop telling everyone you know that your "thinking about getting on the CPD", because you think it makes you sound tough. You would never survive anyways. Thats awesome that you just listen to people on this blog and that is how you base your opinions.

....it was so ass backwards and that poly is an absolute bitch. Even if the poly comes back inconclusive, they still fail you, and that's it.

i passed the poly with flying colors.

but then, i have no pulse.

Let's see... We now have a wrap around detail. Does this take over the current reach around program?

I'm on the list, but seriously cosidering tell the city to go scratch. Not afraid of the job, afraid of leaving a decent job for a rat race of a shit show.

Funny how no one says they are happy with this job though. Look at the writing on the wall. City wants to go broke to get bailed out by the fed. The last ones in are going to be the first ones out! Happened in camden nj and other departments! No job security and you all can not stand together behind a non-existend union, not sounding tough, sounding smart. Ill say it again, not afraid of the job, (I'm already on a department) I'm afraid of not being allowed to be the POLICE in traditional chicago fashion. Which was my reason for the move. Have fun on a foot patrol on the west side as a rookie, on midnights for years, tough guy. Get ready to eat cr#s and try not get fired in your first two years. If you don't eat cr#s, you'll be eating shit and may hesitate to make the right decision because the city won't back you up even though your jusstified due to votes. Keep defending your own wet dream.

Funny how you think that the people on this blog represent every single person on the department. Funny that you chose another department (probably suburb) then decided maybe your ready for big boy policing. Probably have an excuse as to why you didn't take CPD first. I know, "you missed the power test or your phone call to get you on with the suburbs came first". Whatever the case is, you decided not to join CPD because there was the potential of "being assigned to the west side on mid nights". That statement alone means your scared. Before you say "good luck with that foot patrol" This is not new york. A foot patrol here is not what you see on t.v. know what your talking about before you speak. The old school way of Policing is still very much apart of any working coppers day. Ask any working Police and they will tell you the same thing. Yes cr #s are something you must be aware of, but any copper with a brain understands that no matter what you do you could have the potential of getting cr's. If that really really scares you, you are in the wrong profession. Coppers with a brain are very well able to articulate and justify every move they make while "on a foot patrol on the west side". Stay on your nice safe (non- west side) department and keep up the good work!

Funny how you think my comment was meant for the whole dept. And not the two people who responded to the original post. The guy whose life dream is to be law enforcement is the guy who will get someone hurt being so gung-ho and not assessing the situation around him. Most of the hair gels as you call them...

They are all a bunch of crooks...from Rahmmelinda to most of the aldermen to the city's top cops. Crooks. The city needs to allow its resident tax payers to carry guns. It's that simple! It happened in Detroit and the murder rate went down. Shocker, eh? Wake up Rahmmelinda and McRahmanator. Quit kissing the left ass cheeks of your leader Obama and make CCW a reality in this City. Wake up people. Wake up. Demand the city get a CCW law put into place. Write your congress, alderman, etc. Oh, but first make sure you have a large contribution before you do that. WOn't work otherwise.

Quid pro quo here. ALWAYS. Sad.
