Peterson Trial
The prosecution almost blew it during opening statements:
- Less than five minutes into the prosecution's opening statement, Peterson's legal team demanded a mistrial after State's Atty. James Glasgow told jurors that Peterson offered a co-worker $25,000.
Defense attorneys cut Glasgow off before he could complete his sentence and, with the jury sent out of the courtroom, argued that prosecutors should not be allowed to mentioned Peterson's alleged attempt to hire a hit man to kill Savio since they never notified the defense that they planned to use such evidence.
Judge Edward Burmila sustained the objection, prompting defense attorney Steve Greenberg to demand a mistrial.
"We would ask for a mistrial because it's so prejudicial," he said. "I hate to bring it (the trial) to a screeching halt, but we've got a jury in the box and what are you supposed to say to them? That this was a big mistake?"

Glasgow is a piece of shit with a case that ain't worth shit. Peterson probably commited a murder or two, but Shit for Brains Glasgow pushed for this case with horseshit evidence. Phil says this case never makes the jury and the judge gives a direct verdict of Not Guilty. Horseshit Case with a Horsehit Prosecutor.
They pushed a hearsay law through the legislature, violating the Constitution. Besides, how can you make a law retroactive? Again, Violation of his Constitutional rights. A case based on hearsay and a former Medical Examiner that never ruled anything accidental. He always ruled homicide.... That's why he's no longer the M.E. for New York...
All these idiots have done is guarantee Peterson a multi million dollar award for Malicious prosecution.
Horseshit Case with a Horsehit Prosecutor.

not that you've got anything against horseshit.
Well it worked for Jose Baez I guess.
The Politics of Will County will not allow this case a pre-mature death. And remember, the Hollywood Medical Examiner who declared this a Murder has himself been impeached in the past on the witness stand in other cases. His whole premise of declaring this a Murder after the original Medical Examiner ruled it an Accidental Death will give Peterson an out.
He'll walk and go back to being a half ass celebrity....We can only hope he moves to another state so we dont have to see his mug hamming it up for the cameras. It just amazes me how many women are throwing themselves at him waiting to be dead wife #3.
Glasgow could care less if he wins. He has stuck him in jail for a couple of freedomless years. He knows that this is the best he can do.
I'm not exactly going to be seen wearing a "Free Drew" t-shirt anytime soon, and this guy may actually be a serial killer, but damn it, this whole thing has been a sham and a perversion of justice. He beat you. Plain and simple. Happens everyday. I've seen countless jagoffs walk out of 26th St "not guilty" with POLICE as eye witnesses. There is no way they can legitimately find this guy guilty.
The State jumped the gun and charged without enough evidence just because of media pressure. They should hope for a mistrial and then opt not to re-try. Start a new investigation, put together a task force, whatever. Just work it until more evidence is developed. Even if it takes years at least you can always try him later. Otherwise he will be found not guilty and sometime in the future write a book like OJs "If I Did It."
He committed at least two murders. He should fry.
Will County State's Attorney. Riley Fox case.
Need I say more?
He will walk. He will be paid. He is a murdering scumbag.
Peterson will walk....Thursday will be interesting. Wait and see kids.
He committed at least two murders. He should fry.

so, fire up the grill and get to cookin'.
Chalkie
If they can fry him on weak evidence...why not you too?

=====
First off, no it doesn't violate the Constitution. Illinois just showed up a little late to a law that has already passed constitutional testing.
Second, rules of evidence are always applicable retroactively. But good job.
This case hits a lot of strings, in and out of the law enforcement community, but it raises no real constitutional issues.

That sux and should scare the hell out of any person. That a State's Attorney can, on little more than a whim, lock some one up for 2 or 3 years to appease the public.
If he can do it to Drew Peterson, he can do it to anyone. So much for "The Constitution" or "Bill Of Rights"
Glascow should be locked up for as long as Peterson for misconduct.
But at least if Drew is acquitted it is highly unlikely that the Savio family will riot, burn and kill.
"He committed at least two murders. He should fry."
Perhaps he did. Perhaps he should. But only if you can prove it in court.

If he did, then he should. But we have rules of evidence and prosecution for a reason, and they should be followed.
In addition to the Riley Fox fuckup, remember what else Glasgow fucked up... The Lynwood copper falsely accused of being the honeybee killer. Drew may be an asshole, but JG is a bigger asshole. Get the fuck outta the SA's office and go sell hair care products!
