Rahm to Cut the NRA a Check

From our friends at the NRA:
  • Positive news – without waiving their right to appeal, Chicago and Oak Park agree with our fee calculations, agree to split the fees evenly, and don’t oppose a finding of joint and several liability. Response attached. They state:

    1. “the recalculations of attorneys’ fees performed by Plaintiff pursuant to the Court’s June 25 opinion, and reflected on page 2 of Plaintiff’s Memorandum, are consistent with the dictates of that opinion.”

    2. “the total fees due to Plaintiff for this litigation should be evenly divided between Defendants. Thus, as Plaintiff seeks a total amount of $1,326,588.19, $663,294.10 should be apportioned to Chicago, and $663,294.10 should be apportioned to Oak Park.”

    3. “Defendants do not concede that, as to these amounts, a finding of joint and several liability is appropriate in this case, but they do not oppose such a finding, subject to the understanding that, as articulated by Plaintiff, Plaintiff would seek payment from defendant A for defendant B’s share only if defendant B ‘does not or cannot pay the fees.’”

Expect the city to drag it's feet again. Hopefully, the judge will assess further penalties against them as they do, and maybe hold some politicians personally responsible for the delays? Rahm has $11 million lying around that we know of.

On behalf of gun owners and NRA supporters nationwide, thanks Rahm. You too Shortshanks.

Remember mayor transparency running to the aid of the Accretive Health company telling the Minn. attorney general to basically back off on their lawsuit a few months ago?

Well guess what?

The Minn A/G expanded the lawsuit and now this:

***

Accretive said Monday that it will pay $2.5 million in restitution for patients and return data to client hospitals. The company will stop doing business in Minnesota by November and won't be allowed to operate in the state for up to six years. It accepted a two-year ban, and any agreement that calls for Accretive to return to the state over the following four years must be approved by the Minnesota Attorney General.

Accretive has not acknowledged any wrongdoing or liability, but the company said it wanted to move on.

THE BIG PICTURE: Accretive helps hospital systems manage their revenue cycles, works on bill preparation, and tracks medical treatments. State Attorney General Lori Swanson sued the company in January, saying Accretive advised Minnesota hospitals to use high-pressure tactics to collect money from some patients, including emergency room visitors, before the patients were treated. Swanson said those tactics appeared to violate federal and state laws.

Swanson also said the company failed to keep health care records for tens of thousands of patients confidential and did not tell patients how much it was involved in their health care. The Chicago company said the allegations were "baseless" and asked a court to dismiss the lawsuit.

In April, the attorney general's office released a six-volume report detailing the allegations, and Accretive shares plunged.

KA-BOOM!

When mayor transparency was asked for comments on the above or asked why he got involved in this private business matter we heard

( ((CRICKETS)) )

Of course the company is downplaying it all hahaha..

On the other hand we see the company gets away with the old we will not admit any wrong doing and so there's no real incentive for some other scam to go down.

If your a corporation the laws don't matter you can buy your way out and Break as many Windows as you want if you get my drift.

Ill bet there's a lot of bank robbers and others that would like to just give the money back after they are caught and just not admit or deny anything so that they can "move on" too don't ya think? Yeah..

Wasting millions on lawsuits while our pensions continue to go unfunded. Then cry broke. How very responsible of you, Mr. Mayor.

That amount is Oak Park's entire budget for street repair and construction for a year. Foolish Oak Park believed Chicago would help them pay the judgement because Oak Park stood with Chicago on this one. Hah!

Parking ticket fees in Oak Park about to go way up. Property taxes too.

As a private citizen troller, I am once again unhappy with democrat government in this city. We have the highest per capita murder rate of most large cities in the world and our so called government probably wastes more money per capita than any large city in the world. I would like to see those numbers. Typical stupid and ignorant democrats. That constitution is really a problem isn't it?

Sticking to his "not letting a crisis go to waste" belief, I wouldn't put it past the tiny dancer to use this ruling to his advantage, say as the excuse to cut some popular program.

I can see it now.......

He will be standing in front of some library on the south side. Dozens of children and their mothers surround him. He'll be standing there, telling the cameras that the after school program that he JUST started will have to be shut down because there is no money. The money that was to be used to pay for the program has to cover the cost of an unjust ruling by the courts brought on by some gun nuts.

Let's not forget, like the "Obama Phones"; that money does not come out of their pockets, it comes out of our taxes! These lawsuits should pursue punitive damages against these politicians, the way they come after us personally. Then we'd have some real Hope and Change!

Here we go again. Apparently there's no end to the amount of your tax money they'll spend on this:

As many of you know, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn today utilized his amendatory veto authority to hijack a pro-gun bill and convert it into a ban on so called assault weapons. Quinn claims that his bill would "...make Illinois a safer place."

Of course, lawful Illinois firearm owners know better. We know that Quinn's true aim is to obliterate private firearm ownership in the state. Closer analysis of Quinn's bill reveals a host of opportunities for Quinn and his buddy Emanuel to make life miserable for the state's lawful firearm owners.

Here is just a partial list of what this bill would do, if passed:

1. Ban the manufacture, possession or sale of nearly every semiautomatic rifle, pistol and shotgun you own.

2. Specifically ban Glock pistols since they share a common design with the Glock 18, a select fire handgun.

3. Require you to register every semiautomatic firearm and every magazine you own that exceeds 10 round capacity. The kicker is that, under Quinn's proposal, the State Police can charge you unlimited fees to register your guns. Thus if Quinn's bill passes, you could very well find yourself paying $100 or even $1,000 per firearm per year to comply with the law. Additionally, you could find yourself paying $50, $100 or even $500 per year for each "high capacity" magazine you own. Can't pay? Well then you would have to surrender your guns to the State Police for destruction.

This is just a taste of what you could expect from Quinn's gun ban. Twists and turns in the bill would certainly open up the doors to taxation, regulation, and outright bans on every civilian owned firearm in the state.

Oh, and one thing is for sure, you can forget about concealed carry if Quinn's gun ban passes.

NRA LIFE MEMBER, and Chicago Police Officer.

I hate these bullshit politicians trying to claim safety issues about law abiding citizens arming and or defending themselves.

I really hate assholes like Bloomberg who reference police officers and our safety. What the hell does he know?? Criminals will always have weapons be it guns, or damn near anything else. The first lesson taught to police is consider everyone is armed, if you have reason to believe they are, pat them down.

To the unarmed past, present, and future victims of Chicago, arm yourselves. If you don't have regular negative run ins with the police, that won't change, but you will be able to defend yourself if the need arises. So when the ever shrinking police dept. is answering bullshit ghetto nonsense and can't get to you while your being robbed, at least you stand a chance.

The most truthful statement ever:

"When seconds count, the police are minutes away."

The money is not wasted if it actually goes into the pockets of the "right" contractors, lobbyists, lawyers judges, corporations, and other assorted members of the Daley/Burke/Madigan crime families. They're simply redistributing tax dollars to the wealthy criminals!

It looks like Chicago will be paying Oak Park's share of the fees. Chicago tax payers screwed again. Why is the mayor spending Chicago money for Oak Park's debts?

"The legal fees associated with the lawsuit involving the National Rifle Association, the City of Chicago and the Village of Oak Park are expected to total roughly $1.3 million, pending a judge's approval, but Oak Park won't have to empty its pockets.

While the court documents appear as though Oak Park would be forking out their half, according to a 2009 agreement between the two municipalities, Chicago agreed to pay for the NRA-associated fees, as long as the fees "could be attributed to Chicago's and Oak Park's joint defense of their respective ordinances," according to an written arrangement with Michael Forti, Chicago's deputy corporation counsel during the time.

The agreement states that Oak Park would be responsible for its own legal fees associated with the case, but the village was represented by the Chicago-based firm of Mayer Brown at no cost."

How much more of the citizens money are you going to squander Rahm? Why don't you and Governor Jello just admit that you are tilting at windmills? The tide of public opinion regarding firearms and the Second Amendment is against you, yet you just won't quit. For an intelligent man, you sure act stupidly sometimes.
