15 of 26 are in units. But thats also including the D unit.. so I guess those three dont count. That makes 12 from Units, 11 from patrol, and 3 from the D unit. Congrats to those that made it from the test. Congrats to the merit picks who have worked hard in there career and deserve it. To the others who were merit and have never done a damn thing, good luck... youll need it. Its hard to win over P.Os when they know your a hack and have done nothing. Now that I am retired watching what is going on in the department and seeing some of the the clout sucking worthless slugs being promoted reminds me of the movie "Airplane". Now that my life won't be in danger working with some of these idiots I can sit back and LAUGH at the comedy show that this city is providing. The department is eating itself from the inside out. Finally Eddie Johnson can get at little rest now than Dwayne is off his coat tails for as long as the training is. I can't imagine a more qualified Sgt to be a Merit Lt. than Betts. After all the valuable field experience he has gained as a school sgt. CAPS sgt. and administrative sgt. will serve the patrol division well for the two periods he's is in a district until they make up an administrative Lt. position in the Central Area office.

News Flash: The Sup had no authority in the merit selection, NONE, it came straight from city hall. The Sup interviewed prospective candidates only to portray he had influence to the sworn in the process when it was only smoke and mirrors. He had no say nor did he care who was promoted, he traded the merit picks for public support from city hall because the city is falling apart, crime is out of control and manpower issues. He'll be here for 3/4 years, why should he care? How in the world is the media taking a backseat to the increase in crime, because city hall controls the media.
Dave Harris is a joke to the job (double merit) and an absolute embarrassment to the promotion. R.F. is a joke as well, but he made it off the list.

A man in his forties was stabbed outside the Lollapalooza music festival at Grant Park Friday night.
The attacker ran up to the victim, stabbed him, and ran off, according to Police News Affairs.
Paramedics responded just before 7 p.m. at South Michigan Avenue and East Adams Street. They found an injured man, who they took to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition, said Fire Media Affairs spokesperson Meg Ahlheim.
Authorities are not sure if the stabbing was related to Lollapalooza, according to Police News Affairs.
Police could not immediately provide more information.
So a Sgt saves a PO's life with quick thinking & experience but doesn't deserve a merit Lt spot....WOW - we r doomed. Who else on that list can say they had the brains (and balls) to transport an injured cop (shot several times by a mutt) in order to save his life...NOT A ONE! Worked for AC when i was brand new po and he was a brand new sgt. He was a good peeps back then and it sounds like he still is. I think all most PO's are looking for now is someone who basically leaves you alone and doesn't look to jam you up over bullshit. Congrats Lt. Harris! Don't listen to the shit talkers, they obviously don't know you. I worked for you and you were always good to people. Especially to the workers. I can say I never heard him sitting around telling "war stories". And the Derek Jeter comment, really?? I've heard other people jokingly say that because maybe they look slightly similar but he doesn't walk around calling himself that. Damn people write some stupid shit on here!

A lot of dave harris bashing, yes the double and triple merit people on this job are out of control.
But I have worked with dave on many messed up ghetto parties, nasty crime scenes and a few police shootings. He always was good at the job.
Yeah he's arrogant and his biggest fan but he can can back it up, and a lot of it is sarcastic.
Where ever he ends up the troops will be surprised especially the workers, he will not put up with coppers dogging jobs which in essence screws other coppers.
This test has been around so long I lost track of how many they made. What number are they up to.

So a Sgt saves a PO's life with quick thinking & experience but doesn't deserve a merit Lt spot....WOW - we r doomed. Who else on that list can say they had the brains (and balls) to transport an injured cop (shot several times by a mutt) in order to save his life...NOT A ONE! I hope u merit guys take note that someone else deserved the spot you've gotten - so font fuck it up.
MAYBE if he just shut his mouth instead of telling everyone from the 1st second it happened that he was a hero, that he deserved to be a LT. and it was in the bag. Maybe if he didn't put himself in for every award known to man, and was actually a decent Sgt. he would of had a chance.

That's the funniest shit I've heard. I almost died laughing. This stroke is the only supervisor that ever smiled and was happy giving someone a SPAR. He only took care of you if you bought baseball tickets.

Do you know what his job was? He had to deal with every psycho and emotional wreck on this Department. And guess what, there are A LOT of them. Perhaps even you have been to his office before. He saved a lot of careers and got people help they needed, but instead of looking at it from that perspective, the geniuses automatically say he worked inside and had a clout job. If you only know what a shit job he had.
Again, congrats Fabs, and heres hoping whoever takes over your duties helps as many officers as you have over the years.

No Story here. Full duty at 376 took the test and made it off the list not by merit. He did a good job at 376. Not the gossip you wanted.
Congrats to all the new lieutenants but DH? A double meritorious promotion who plays off his fathers rep. Couldn't lead a circus. However Mostek, Chung and Joyce are good guys and will make great Lts. Congrats again to the new Lts.
Wu will fit right in as an XO.

Agreed. All three are top notch guys, and all three are 019 alum. Sgt. Manto, I'll follow you into combat any time. A true leader and genuine guy.
Honorable mention to Don J too. Nice guy and also was in 019 for a time.
By the way you forgot one other 019alumnus, Saldana, he was there for a short time. I worked with them all and I congratulate them all. I wish them good luck and I am sure they will all be successful. Remember, the haters will hate. I learned a long time ago that you just can't please everybody. All you can do, is your best and treat everybody fairly. If they learned anything from their tenure in 019, it is that the bosses that play favorites are the ones most despised.
