Did anyone else notice (like many of our readers did) that the July homicide rate dropped following the deployment of 200 extra officers working their days off?
That might make someone intelligent draw a correlation between the number of police and the reduction in murders.

only 6 "less" homicides, for 200 "extra" officers working per night in the hood, at time and 1/2... not a math person, but it would be intresting to add up the numbers, to see the dollar amount spent for 6 less

If the police have Y officers on the street and they add 200 officers how many officers do they now have?
In other words....... Y + 200 == X

But that doesn't mean we don't have enough police officers. They just hire us back on our days off because they like having us around.
Remember when you have 200 people deployed like this, it is 200 pairs of boots actually on the ground. This would be like having a unit of 400 or more people and taking into account house mice, furlos, DO, medical, etc.
In the long run it really is cheaper for the city to pay time and a half rather than hire more people. The problem for the troops then becomes burn out and the reulting increase in CR numbers.

I'm not going to fault you for wanting to make extra bucks to support your family. But remember this. The city is going drive down the manpower as low as possible, reduce OUR pension as low as possible, take away or reduce many of OUR benefits. So when the city shoves it up OUR ass don't complain.

What the haters of special employment dont realize is everyone working it doesnt bring in any activity. Thats the beauty of it.....we so short u cant work it.....get paid and not do shit. And youll still keep getting assigned. Soooooo actually we r robbing thr city and not doing shit.
