- Ot- whose the merit selection in sgt school that was recently dismissed due to this person not meeting the education requirement? Thanks for taking a spot from someone else.
We wish we didn't have to ask these questions, but the complete incompetence downtown and the crooked history of promotions just keeps bringing it to the fore.

Not true. The goof is TG from 008. He also passed the last Sgt Exam and had to pass because he lacked Education.
OT. The better question is how come Det JF doesnt have to ever show up for class? I realize that he may have court, but you can't tell me he is at 26th and Cal from 8am until 4:30pm every day. I hope someone has the brains to check the sheets at 26th and Cal and catch this a-hole ditching class. F him that arrogant douche. Also, the negative comments that were posted about him are 100% dead on.

How about the new LT. Mantos, the dept. has his date of rank as 1 apr 2004. He WAS not sworn in with other sgts on that day. He actually attended a later class and was sworn in, given his sgt's star etc., with other sgts, who were not eligible to take the Lt's test. What gives? I understand he was deployed, But to give him special treatment for his "great job" with logistics at NATO is bullshit and unfair to other vets who came back and were not given the same opportunity.
Hey, ditching a pre promotion class is not a crime, but a tradition. I remember when Iwas made the class was three weeks. The first week everyone was present. The second week lunches were two hours. The third week lunches were three hours. Tradition.

Wasn't a merit selection. Made it off the list. He didn't take a spot ...............the spot was filled by the guy they passed over. Simple as that.
And yes there are rumors of a detective hat has not been in class for more than an hour the first day..........typical CPD fashion.

Homan Square is full if them. Like Sgt. S.D.. I got picked from 18 to go to the Fugitive Unit because I make alot of arrest. Now he's acting like Mr. Big man doing search warrants. First of all, this shows us what kind of officer or future sgt. you will be if you are going to front out someone on a blog. Second, if you had any knowledge, you would know a subpoena overrides everything...you know. a court order....yes even sgt. training school. Lastly, what do you care? If he isn't in class, is it hurting you in anyway? Does it take money from your pocket? Does it give you an extra turn at the chalkboard? Take a look in the mirror and look at the real douche.

If you think Chicago is becoming Detroit, I seriously suggest you take a couple college classes. They don't make you Einstein but they couldn't hurt ya! (wink)
FYI Detroit didn't go down because of crime, it was industry. High crime followed. Nobody is saying "Aint no jobs in Chicago." People are finding jobs in Chicago if you didn't know.

Guy was removed from class cuz of education requirement. He WASN'T replaced by next guy on the list. The class is 1 short. Therefore he screwed the next guy on the list. The #1 guy on sgt list right now could have been earning sgts pay. He is not doing that cuz he got screwed over.

Yep it is true. Three males blacks approach two 14 year old kids put a handgun to one of the victims stomachs and took cell phone and money. One of the offenders wearing an evergreen park football t-shirt. Evergreen Is going to shit and the robberies are going to be more frequent. 022 tact team - you fucking paying attention. Do some work on the west end instead of driving through fast to go to your house!!!

What happened to Tobias? Kuschner is a good man, realolice once upon a time, good detective, good boss. Wish he was still here but he took care of his family. He was chief in Berwyn when Waguespack was working for city manager there. Both very decent people.
Mantos is a true hero, leader. Career Army Colonel (retired). Class act, respect the man, we need leaders in this department. If you work for him or with him, you would realize this. He gets the job done and looks out for his people. There are other political hacks on this list that you can bash, not him.

Another fun fact...his rank in the service?? A full colonel. This guy is a real leader of men. Also, he was NOT a merit promotion. He was high up on the list. He knows his shit, and he's always on the p.o.'s side. Whoever gets this guy will be real happy with him. Something this department is real short on...bosses who aren't out to screw the troops every chance they get.
I retired recently. For the past 5 years I cannot really say that I have seen a tac car on a street stop. And I was working a city wide unit.
Are they all on details or on side streets making one bag pinches. When I went inside district stations I would see their sorry asses always eating in the tac office.
Tac teams should be eliminated asap. Let the watch throw a couple of 06 cars on the street.

The classes for the new sgts are a waste of time. After one week of classes, they have not presented anything new for the sgts? Who reviews the selection of classes? Who is in charge? Academy staff should not teach the classes and instead experts from the various units should teach new sgts.

It is Lt Manto and he is a very good leader. Full Bird Colonel in the Army, one step away from General. Brigade Commander. Truly earned, not given.
Look for him to not stay too long as Lt. He can best use his talents elsewhere and collect two pensions plus a good salary. Army pension at Colonel level, CPD Pension plus whatever salary he manages.
He is a leader I would follow into gunfire because I know he would truly lead by example, not like the phony baloney nincompoops we have here sucking politician's dicks.

Unfortunately the sergeant's training has become a Police 101 for the merit people who have no experience as the police. Teaching them the basics of being the police, like arrest reports, how to do an inventory. Our class was extended a week so that the merit house mouses could learn how to log onto a pdt and the hot desk computer to run names and plates, as well as other routine things. I wish I was joking but it is true. There was nothing that a working cop would gain from the sergeant's class. The things we needed to learn like how to do Cr #s were not even addressed. Probably because the white shirts who were the instructors never did time in a district so they probably never did one. Overall, it was a huge waste of time and a joke to those who made it off the list.
I really believe the education requirement for sergeants should be dropped. The sergeants they are promoting with masters degrees are total morons and lack common sense. I was considered due to my work ethic and that I was well like among my fellow officers and supervisors. However could not accept the offer due to not enough college credit. Now is a piece of paper really going to change me? No! Total nonsense. Really I'm glad now I didn't. You loose your seniority and really your the middle man. I have seen in the past two years all the bullshit the sergeants are going through really isn't worth it.

Ok, here is part of the problem. You do not need a degree to be promoted to Sergeant, only the 60 hours. You do need a degree to make Lieutenant.
It doesn't matter if she/he has a education or not. Example there's a Sgt that has taken every seminars classes on dept cost on cooking, never pick up a knife or made a meal and now calls herself a chef, orders everyone what to do and the dept allows this idiot to continue running the unit.
