Finally, a job that liberal bleeding hearts can go while supporting their dreams of nanny-statism and villages raising children:
- On Friday, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry F. McCarthy called for increased access to voluntary home visiting programs for new, at-risk parents to address the root causes of violent crime
Pointing to a new report by the anti-crime organization Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois, Superintendent McCarthy said research shows home visiting programs, which provide coaching for at-risk new parents, can cut abuse and neglect by as much as half and significantly reduce future violent crime. Home visiting programs provide trained workers, such as nurses or mental health professionals, to support new, at-risk parents starting before birth through the child’s toddler years. The services work on an ongoing, voluntary basis to help parents cope with the stresses of raising an infant or toddler, support the child’s social and emotional development and ensure infant and maternal health.
Reduce the police staffing numbers to dangerous levels, watch the homicide rates rise, blame everything but the number of police officers, and finally, introduce some new "feel-good" crap that we can see is just going to raise our taxes again and produce zero results for us since we already know how to raise functional human beings.
And does anyone else see the irony of McRevamp911 telling everyone how we're going to alter the way police answer calls, disregarding non-emergency and nonsense calls, while simultaneously pushing this non-police initiative?
We've completely lost our direction thanks to McColumbus.

What they'll never seem to grasp is that there are no parentS in the ghettos.

What doctor, nurse, or mental health professional in their right mind will volunteer to do this?
Will this be just a "coaching" session or will these volunteers come bearing freebies, like diapers and formula? If so who pays for it?
And what will they do with the many moms ( notice no dads are around ) that have been raised with a sense of entitlement?
For a program like this to work, you will need both mom and dad to actually take, dare I say it.....RESPONSIBILITY for the life they just brought into this world.
But when you have a mother and father who themselves have been raised since birth to expect EVERYTHING to be handed to them.....

I'm a det. Last week I started noticing more and more burglary reports coming from callback. It's not something I was looking for, or keeping an eye out for. But all of a sudden, burglary reports with no officers on the scene are here....and gaining momentum.
Which isn't a bad thing because we're so short-handed, when there's no offender or evidence--but the citizens are being short-changed by not being able to talk to an officer on the scene BECAUSE we are short of officers, especially those who've been hit numerous times....and we all know where THOSE areas are. Businesses, at least on the west side districts, moving out in droves.
Tax base gone. Drive around a couple of shit districts and see how many businesses are still there, and how many are vacant buildings. Isn't TIF money supposed to help keep businesses here?
And in 9 of 10 reports, no ET ever called.
Has anyone ever noticed all the 'day-care centers' run out of regular homes? Gotta be some big fed funds coming in there.....along with the privatized rides to hospitals and such.

This concept actually makes sense. However, it also compromises the police. Let's say you drop by for a "home visit" unannounced, and the there are illegal drugs and materials clearly visible; what now? Do you arrest? What was the basis for your entry? Perhaps a better idea would be to get DCFS investigators off their fat asses and have them make home visits with the police only as escorts. If DCFS sees something let them be the complainants because they can enter the residences of their clients without a warrant. Putting police in an On-View situation is a mistake. Home visits is something storefront Revs and DCFS should be doing."Baby G"

Different approaches TO RAISE OTHER BEINGS' CHILDREN (notice i didn't say Human) have been tried since the beginning of time...and consistently failed.
Countless variations of the same miserable social programs have been implemented only to repeatedly fail; fail both those who refuse to take advantage of the multiple gifts being thrown at them and fail the taxpayers who are the unwilling surrogate parents footing the bill.
As a taxpayer, allow me to speak for every other taxpayer: WE'RE TIRED OF NOT GETTING A RETURN ON OUR "INVESTMENT".
There's numerous sections of the city (ghettos in particular) that receive highly disproportionate amounts of federal, state and local forms of aid. Housing vouchers, food "stamps", discounted utilities, "free" cellular telephones and "free" food programs at public schools just to name the first few that come to mind.
All while the local inhabitants of these same areas consistently contribute disproportionate amounts of crime to society. Crimes that span the gamut. Crimes learned from being immersed in a culture that encourages gaming the system and contributing (next to) nothing.
These are generational failures and they compound exponentially regardless of how much money is earmarked towards eradicating them. In short, some people just don't WANT to be saved. They're perfectly content to remain on the taxpayer teat as long as they're not bothered to contribute anything meaningful nor expected to consistently follow the rules governing their "free" handouts.
"Free" everything has created a monster. A monster that has no sense of pride of ownership or self reliance. A monster that has had basic parenting skills expunged from it courtesy of a "Nanny State". A monster that will become more dangerous if allowed to exist without having to conform to societal norms.
So feel free to come be the police in the ghetto. Jump on a BLS ghetto ambulance. Maybe teach at an inner city public school. Possibly join this mentoring program for at-risk ghetto youth that just magically woke up one morning impregnated. Don't let the naysayers discourage you from sharing your wisdom and child rearing skills.

Before he was a copper, when I was an itty bitty kid we were on food stamps and living in the hood and I'm from a working family where college wasn't just preached it was expected. One thing I've found is that people who started out like that and made it pretty good for themselves don't mind "sharing wisdom" because some other people just don't have it. We don't make excuses for laziness and not being willing to work in my house but there are people out there who will get over the hump if you share some wisdom with them...and I'm not talking about social programs and all that. You're pissing me off.
You can't force a parent who doesn't want to be one in the first place to be a good one. And there isn't enough paid help as there is and this is a voluntary program??? What will the libs think of next...probably mandatory middle class drop in chatfests with these idiots.

If you don't get it by now, you never will. There is no way you are a Policeman and think that a TV show is how it really is.(unless you know another reason for the following)
I have a few questions.
Does poverty make you stupid? After all school is free.
If you are poor, how does that make you more likely to get pregnant? After all, rubbers are free and every savage I arrest has at least one in his wallet.
If you are poor, how come the majority of women I deal with are obese?
Why are people who live in poverty in urban areas, so much more violent than those in rural areas?
If you are poor, how come you keep having kids?
If you are poor, why do you have $10,000 rims on your car?
Why do they eat out everyday?
