Nice Job Officer

  • Some people start work early, some people start work late -- and this week Chicago Police Officer John Wrigley did both at the same time.

The 43-year-old off-duty officer was getting ready for work Wednesday afternoon when he heard the screams of a woman being robbed and ran after the 15-year-old crook, arresting him in the Roscoe Village neighborhood.
  • The teen was released on electronic monitoring and is expected in court on Oct. 29 on the charges, Conklin said.

Officer Wrigley, who was shot in the line of duty in 2005, was given multiple awards for valor for the incident, including Officer of the Month, he said.
Nicely done Officer.

Thank heavens for the officer. Why this criminal was sent home with an ankle bracelet is beyond me. Should have been sent to jail. But fantastic job by Officer Wrigley.

Somebody oughta give the Circuit Court a' Crook County a Nobel Prize.

Call of a pack of coyotes at the park by Orange and Cornelia trying to take a dog from an owner. Bona Fide? Any real sightings? If yes then it is definitely a safety issue for small dogs and children and we need to get the word out. Sorry to get off topic. OOh rah to the real police.

This officer is one hell of a guy. One of the best i've met on the job. Been shot and almost killed early in his career too. If this guy isn't merit worthy, i just can't imagine who his.

But after getting shot and almost killed, making tons of arrests like this one and actually being a nice and personable guy he gets passed over for a merit spot but the sup't driver gets one. What is wrong with this picture. That is why the dept and merit system is so F'ed up.

Slightly off topic 011 info.

It seems 011 2nd watch keeps experiencing more and more people bidding out. Over the last few months we lost 2 great sgts and now rumor has it several experienced officer's put in their Par forms to get away from the 2nd watch issue. I cant blame them one bit for leaving what used to be a great watch up until a few years ago.

A.K. you will be sorely missed by all. Enjoy your new home, at least it has nice restaurants to eat and the scenery is much better, and for that matter so are the Bosses.

They save that for all the self promoters in the units, the ones who you meet and tell you how great they are within the first 5 minutes.

This Officer is not like those hacks - he is the police but most of all, he is modest and would never grandstand or self promote.

Amazing how many "real police" who have sold their soul to be on a phone call. It is great to see when there are still honorable people on this job.

Ah.....Johnny Boy. You ALWAYS have been the po-leese. Now if only I could have gotten you to wear that goddamn baseball cap facing FORWARD!

John was the police at another agency before CPD. His efforts were wasted there and he made the step up (well, kind of) and joined the CPD. Just remember, John... you serve a mayor that hates your guts because you are the real deal and a Superintendent who thinks you're a joke because you weren't a cop in New Yawk.

God has been good to you and saw that you have gone home after every tour of duty. As aggressive as you are, you put yourself in the line of fire because of what you know in your policeman's heart to be the right thing.

Please be careful and watch your back. God knows, Car 1 and Car 3 DON'T and WON'T!!

You know who.

Dueche bag, he didn't get officer of the month for this arrest. Gosh you are stupid. How could he get officer of the month the day after the incident. He got that award from a different incident. I'm always amazed of the amount of stupid people on this job.

Hey, P.O. in the hood district. May you spend your entire sorry career in a "hood district" serving and protecting the people that are so deserving. But you'll always be the "real police", right? Nice job, Officer Wrigley.

I spotted two coyotes on Thatcher the other night in River Forest. They were crossing the street from the residential area to go back to the forest preserve. With no local predators, you should assume they are in all the surrounding forest preserves. The pair I spotted appeared to be well fed and healthy, not scrawny or emaciated.

A local news story from Wheaton reported that a coyote easily jumped over a 5' fence to attack two small dogs.

A buddy of mine who lives in a semi-rural area never walks her small dog without carrying a softball bat. It's good for four and two legged predators.

Hey mr "in the hood" asshole. John has done more police work in his career than 90 0/0 of the cops on this job. He did this without a radio, backup, a bulletproof vest, or a partner. Would you even make an attempt to stop this asshole? I think not ! Signed another west side warrior

I worked with John in 010 when he was shot, a terrific guy, second generation policeman. I also had the pleasure of meeting his parents the night he was shot. The apple never falls far from the tree. This city is lucky to have guys like John on the job. This wasn't his first good pinch and it won't be his last.
