Two More Police Shootings

  • Chicago police shot a man in the Englewood neighborhood Sunday at about 10 p.m., authorities said.

The man was taken from the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with at least one gunshot wound, according to reports.

Englewood District officers were on patrol near 57th Street and Wolcott Avenue following reports of gunfire in that area over the last few days, authorities said.

On Sunday night, they were in that area when they heard gunshots and saw at least one person among a group of four or five shooting at a house, authorities said, citing preliminary information. The officers approached the group and announced their office, authorities said. That's when more gunfire erupted, reportedly in the cops' direction.

This prompted at least one of the officers to return fire, striking one of the suspects from the group in the leg, authorities said. The wounded suspect, a 27-year-old man, then tried to elude the police on foot, but was apprehended a short time later near 58th Street and Winchester Avenue, authorities said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital and a gun was recovered, authorities said. The rest of the group was still at large early Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Chicago police Sunday night shot another person who pointed a gun at them near 82nd Street and Drexel Avenue, authorities said. A gun was also recovered in that shooting, but further details about it weren't immediately available.
Nice jobs all around.

Has anybody ever realized how many officers are related to gang members? If the FBI or the secret service wouldn't hire an employee for that why should the cpd have to? I know a detective whose cousin was shot and killed by the cpd.

I guess gun control laws of Daley,Rahm and Jessie really work maybe the Muslim president can implement gun control laws across the US and deny all US citizens their right to bear arms and defend them selfs. They were not shooting up someone's house their door bell did not work.

Saw McDumbell on Ch. 9, saying judges are not letting gangbangers out on low bail, that i-bonds, are down, etc., and keeping bangers in jail reduces violence connected with retaliations.

Well, that seems to contradict this little ditty I found on the internet:

By Sebastian James at August 27, 2012

Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans and Juvenile Justice Division Presiding Judge Michael P. Toomin announced juvenile court judges have recently diverted 269 minors, who otherwise faced detention in the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC), into alternative community and faith-based programs designed to address their individual problems and needs.

--------Um, aren't all of THEM, or at least 99% of THEM, gangbangers?????

But the again, when McBubblehead talks, shit comes out, so that's not surprising.

This seriously is ridiculous. It makes no sense that Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the nation we're averaging, so far, a little over 1 homicide per day. By the end of the year it should be about 2. That is so sad but where is the public officials outcry? Where's Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, father bullshit, etc? McDumbAss and Rahm need to go bc they've proved to what is left of this once great city that they are clueless morons. If things continue to spiral out of control Chicago will be the next Detroit.

Off topic but I am duty disabled and called the benefits management office today asking if my open enrollment insurance packet was lost in the mail and their response was that they have not sent anything because they have not received anything. Normally, the changes have to made before the 31st of October and go in effect January 1st! Anyone know what is going on?

So now people are held responsible and penalized for employment because of what a family member that you may or may not even be close to chooses to do? I guess if you have a pre-teen cousin who decides to join a gang and in a few years and the dept finds about it and fires you, you'll go quietly huh? GTFOH! If you think everyone in the FBI or secret service has family members that are squeaky clean, you shouldn't be a cop,in fact just for making that comment you shouldn't be a cop.

I think the bigger question is? We have ET'S processing police shootings as dedicated and well meaning that they are they are not a PFI's and have not been trained to process these scenes. I would be worried that to no fault of their own the scene is not processed properly or completely leaving the officer involved hanging in the wind down the line. Possibly loosing their career or in the worse case their freedom!

OMG. McCarthy actually said this on WGN news this morning in response to being asked about our need for more police officers. “I think we are at the right number of policemen as we speak… It’s less important how many you have and more important what they are doing… Just last night two separate police related shoot- outs. That means those officers were in the right place doing the right things that they encountered those violent episodes that they intervened in.”

“Shoot-outs” are a good indication we have enough police? Bad guys shooting at the police are good? That is just the most outrageous, ridiculous statement made during his interview filled with drivel. I have a bridge to sell to anyone who believes anything that comes out of his mouth.

God please watch over our police officers, neither our mayor or are superintendent are.

Hell, there are gang members on the job now! Back when I got on we had to draw a picture of any tatoos we had on blank pages of the application. Now they don't do it due to political correctness. I have seen a handfull of CPD with gang tatoos and I believe there is or was an MLD working in 011. Political correctness is the weakening of America.

You're an idiot. I shouldn't be a cop because I'm related to gang members and felons? I also had drug dealers and users in my family...just ignore my own criminal background, my education, my experience, my test scores, my interviews, my poly, my psych because of somebody else's decisions. Yeah, that's American. By the way genius you're comparing national agencies with international reach and scope to a local pd. You're an idiot (if you forgot already).

To 10/29 @ 1646hrs.... Pretty much... If your related to shitheads you will most likely be a shithead so the answer is find another line of work. I don't have a convicted felon in my family, I don't have a drug dealer in my family, I have never been arrested, and I DON'T think it's all right to affiliate with the above on a personal/regular basis. If you don't know by now "genius" we are and should be held to a higher standard...right? Hope you are not a police officer or a candidate because eventually you will end up as another black eye on this department. I worked for what I have and I deserve to wear the badge that I worked for, no question, and I wouldn't want a person with your beliefs being able to wear the same badge that I proudly wear, ever. To the idiot that thinks all FIs are connected you are wrong. I was an FI for 10 years and an ET for 9 years before that. Most of the people I worked with came up the same way. ET and then FI after taking the test. I admit there are a few that were connected and should have never been promoted but they are the minority and the FIs that had to work with them didn't like them any more than you do. Blame the city for not promoting more ETs to FIs when the spots opened up. That's the main reason the ETs are handling Homicides and Police shooting now. When I retired there were 38 FIs. Now there are less than 15.

That's if the lead Det is even at the scene. Usually he is off talking with witnesses or at the hospital. Or left things in the hands of the car protecting the scene .
