Continuing Scandal
- A Chicago police officer is accused of staging an accident involving two cars in return for $2,000 from a tow truck driver who hauled away the wreckage and billed an insurance company.
This is the tenth officer indicted in this scandal. We aren't sure how many got indicted during the SOS scandal, but we don't think it was ten. And for a measly $2,000? This guy will be lucky to get a job actually towing cars in a few years.

Next up is a handful of medical abusers who have been indicted. Area 1 is going to be short a couple of their hard chargers due to stupidity ( playing softball, double dipping).

All these guys have been stripped for almost five years? It takes that long to indict in federal court? If these cases are from 2007, 2006 and they're indicted in 2012 how long is the statute of lmitations?

Went with a friend of mine to the pound at 700 n sacramento.the civilians and private tow operators have quite a scam going on.where is the FBI set up?

The tow truck investigation has been going on sice 2000 that I know of. My familly was affected by this. The real money was made by the tow truck companies who charged huge amounts of money for towing, storage and " clean-up" usually over $1000 per accident often going up to $2000. The cops were getting only a small amount to call certain tow companies. Complaints were made to the city consumer affairs and they said this is a state jurisdiction as tow companies come under state law. The state also ignored the problem as did the insurance companies. So someome went to the feds. I have no sympathy for those caught up in this mess.

The FBI should be investigating all of the city pounds. Many late model vehicles just 'disappear' from the pounds and the vehicle insurance companies are made to pay, for the 'un recovered' vehicles, causing all of our rates to rise.

It is, not that this has anything to do with it. Contrary to popular opinion, the Feds don''t really care when our contract is being negotiated, and this has been on going for the last 5 years. I don't know exactly what took so long to get to him, as he's been stripped since like 2008, but you can bet it has more to do with the FBI just being SLOW. Not necessarily thorough, just slow. Lots of leads to follow up on when everyone is throwing each other under the bus, trying to save their own asses. It's funny how your memory is jarred by a 6 am knock on the door with your house surrounded by Feds...

He got caught up with the others who were referring tow companies to accidents and get a kick back, problem was the tow companies would charge outrageous prices to the insurance companies..........

to all the p.o.'s who work in/near/around 025, please make copies of all tow and impound paperwork, or it just may go missing. Also, take photo of the orange sticker after you put it on. Just be sure to use extra steps to keep a record of tow and impound paperwork. Many officers have been called down to 35th and interviewed for the district's b.s. Think twice, is it really worth it? Just do the job and go home safe. God bless.
Tow truck drivers are always trouble in 008. these investigations have been going on before 2000. I know P.O.'s in the early '90's that got in trouble for the same thing. WHEN I DO A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT I DON'T WANT THEM NO WHERE NEAR ME!!!

Rendered Services? They do private property impound, real disaster. Just avoid 'em, nobody involved is a victim unless somebody starts shooting. Assholes who park wherever they feel like getting towed by other assholes who get paid per vehicle towed on commision. No incentive to cheat there, sure thing....

There is still much more scandal coming. But there its no pattern of clout coverups, corruption and malfeasance within IAD. Just ask Deb Kirby and company.

Report: Chicago U.S. Attorney Search Down to Four

The list of candidates under consideration for the coveted Chicago U.S. Attorney post has been whittled down to four, according to a report [1] in the Chicago Sun-Times.
All four previously worked in the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s office and are now working in private practice. The selection committee will forward their recommendation to Illinois Sens. Dick Durbin (D), the Majority Whip, and Mark Kirk (R). Patrick Fitzgerald left the pos [2]t in June after 11 years on the job.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the four finalists are:
Jonathan Bunge, partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLPBunge worked in the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s office from 1990 to 1999, ultimately serving as Deputy Chief of the General Crimes Section.
Zach Fardon, partner at Latham & Watkins LLP
Fardon served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago from 1997 to 2003, working on the prosecution team of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Lori Lightfoot, partner at Mayer Brown LLP

Lightfoot worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the office from 1996 to 2002. She later went on to work for the city of Chicago in a number of capacities, including the chief administrator in the Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards.
Gil Soffer, partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLPSoffer served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Chicago office from 1994 to 2000. In 2008, he became counsel to the Deputy Attorney General at Justice Department headquarters in Washington, D.C. Later that year he was appointed Associate Deputy Attorney General.

Stop. The only guys who have been charged have video, photos,cooperating individuals and phone calls against them. If you only knew how many barely slipped away. I wouldn't want YOU as a partner because if you are dumb enough to think the FBI locks anyone up without a pretty thorough amount of evidence, you are too stupid to work the street and will probably be joining these goofs down road.
I dont think the fact that he lost his job,embarrassed his family Etc. over ONLY $2000 Dollars is the the point. So if it was $50,000it would be ok? There is NO money that is worth losing your job, destroying your family and ruining your life. Thats what happens when you think because you the Police your untouchable. The city needs to hire more tow truck drivers, which would stop all this B.S. If the the city were able to respond to scenes quicker, these tow guys would be out of the mix. I work in a busy district. When the tow guys ask me, "Do you want me to move the car?" "I tell them no. The city needs to hire more tow truck drivers."

Oh Yeah, that scumbag Joe was always pimping for his dad's towing scam when he was in 008. The bosses couldn't get the slugs at IAD to do anything about it so they ran him out of 008.

pretty much everything you said was absolutly correct including him being responsible for getting Jessie Jr implicated... what you are not correct about is him getting probation. The feds dont give anyone probation for the most part. Im sure he will get a month.. two or three like many snitches have been getting lately. Without a doubt jail time but not much. And yes, word is that 5-10 more are going to be indicted in this towing scheme in the future. Not many people know this but the towing scam guys all got stripped right about the same time and have been sitting in call back... It was done very quietly and there are at least 6 that I know of who are still down there waiting to get indicted.
37th and Iron was owned by a ex-CPD Auto Dick about 10 years ago. Not sure if he still owns it. Something not right with the place.
