Officer Kills Assailant
- A man who allegedly pointed a gun at Chicago police was fatally shot
this afternoon in the Park Manor neighborhood, officials said.
The shooting happened at about 3:45 p.m. near the 6700 block of South Indiana Avenue, according to Patrick Camden, a spokesman for the Chicago police union.
Police officers were driving south on Indiana near an alley when they spotted a man coming out of the alley with a gun in his hand, said Camden.
After police pulled over they ordered the man to drop the gun but the man began running down the alley and about midway the man turned and pointed the weapon at the police, Camden said.
The officers fired at the man, fatally striking him, Camden said.
Well done Officers.

Great job. Stay safe all.
Over 1500 active cops lost eveything or suffered major damage. Please check out the links.
Maybe JJSr can talk about the heroic acts of these Officers when asked those nasty questions about JJJr. I forgot the media doesn't ask about that sort of stuff; let's play the dumb ass "ABBATTEEE" video again, we'll all feel so much better.
Great job office!!! Be safe, God bless...
Good for the officers involved. First rule of police work: Go home alive at the end of your shift.
ECS
Good job officer, glad you are ok and no need to house this shitbird for the next ten years.
good job officers!!!!
Score one for the good guys!
Maywood PD killed a bad guy last night too. These brazen pieces of gabage don't fear and don't care. Everyone stay safe.
Well Done Officer.
God Bless.

Does anybody know if these police involved shootings count towards our homicide numbers? I mean they're not murders but technically they are homicide, right? Any who, good job to the officer involved. Always good to see we made it home after an incident like this.

OT: here is what we have to look forward to with 4 more years of Barack in power, the fiscal cliff.
_____________
Fiscal cliff caused by inability of Congress to come to agreement. Therefore, the 2011 budget solution was to set up the end of the various TEMPORARY tax cuts (i.e. payroll, Bush) and the beginning of cuts to over 1000 government programs on December 31, 2012.
A Romney presidency would not have changed the warring factions of Congress. The Republicans still hold the House. The Democrats still hold the Senate.
where the rhymin fool rev jessie now? oh yeah worried about his own baby-jjjr not the bastard child-like there is a difference.
Glad the officers are okay!!!
Don't mess with the police,
this should always be the outcome.
God bless the CPD, it's a jungle out there & it's going to get worse!
See SCC, SEE?

Accretive settlement leaves Emanuel's involvement unexplained
Mayor's office declines to answer questions about May letter urging Minnesota attorney general to put investigation of Chicago-based company on hold
August 01, 2012|By Jeff Coen, Chicago Tribune reporter
In May, Mayor Rahm Emanuel took the unusual step of defending a Chicago company from an investigation two states away, asking Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson to turn down the heat over allegations that hospital patients were hassled to pay bills.
She didn't.
Instead, Swanson outlined for a federal judge an alleged pattern of questionable collection efforts by workers for Accretive Health, some of whom used what they called a "secret sauce" — their method for pushing emergency room patients to pay upfront or settle overdue bills before they received treatment. Many patients said they thought they were dealing with hospital staff and that they would not be treated unless they found a way to immediately pay hundreds of dollars....

Accretive Investor Sues Board Over Debt-Collection Claims
By Steven Church - Nov 9, 2012 12:47 PM CT
Accretive Health Inc. (AH)’s chairman and chief executive officer should be dismissed over stock losses caused by the use of “shameful” tactics to collect money from hospital patients, an investor said in a lawsuit.
Chairman J. Michael Cline, CEO Mary Tolan and other board members breached their fiduciary duty, Robert Doyle said in the lawsuit made public today in Delaware Chancery Court in Wilmington. Accretive plunged 19 percent after it lost the right to collect health-care debt for Fairview Health Services, reducing 2012 income by as much as $68 million, Doyle said.
“The company was violating state and federal law regarding debt collection and patient privacy and engaging in practices that were outright shameful,” Doyle said in the complaint.....

Hey you're the justice department. You figure it out!
Chicago breaking news described the person shot as a 15yr old “Boy” when in fact he was a teenage gangbanging piece of shit. A known gang member with an arrest history that includes aggravated battery to a Police Officer and robbery. A boy in my opinion is anyone under 10. However, if you’re a boy scout or an altar boy I’ll make an exception. But if you’re over 10 and placing my life in fear by pointing a gun at me …….sorry….but now you’re forcing me to feed you some lead. If the Chicago Tribune reporters enjoy using this type of spin they should at least have the courage to sign off with real names instead of “Staff Report”.

Groupon Plunges to Record Low After Coupon Demand Fades
Groupon Inc. (GRPN), the largest daily-deal website, plunged to a record low after reporting third-quarter revenue that missed estimates as sales of coupons overseas declined from the previous period.
The shares tumbled 30 percent to $2.76 at the close in New York, for a market value of $1.81 billion. Last November, Groupon sold shares at $20 apiece in an initial public offering, valuing the discounter at about $12.7 billion......
------------------------------------
That means that the stock price is 86% below the initial public offering price of $20.00 one year later.
Which makes me wonder.
Were the students and future entrepreneur in attendance at Chicago Ideas Week suppose to be learning from these companies or was it the other way around with the companies seeking ideas to exploit and profit from?
Anyways, not the kind of Ideas Chicago needs some would say.
This dog and pony show put on by the mayor and Groupon reminds me of a few people I once knew who would travel to Vegas on a regular schedule.
All you need is about three guys following you around asking "everything okay mister (fill in the name here)" and all of a sudden you look like someone really important

You are very right! But at least he didn't get the Bill cozzi treatment. Billy did 3 years in the fed pen. He was punished twice for slapping a guy.
Police involved justifiable shootings/homicide does not count in the total by either city or federal standards, at least in 98' when I graduated WIU and I did a paper on that topic, I doubt it has changed

The conservative Fox channels are called Fox News Channel and Fox Business News. They are only available on cable or satellite. The channel known as WFLD/32/Fox 32 has never claimed to be conservative. If you have been trying to get conservative points of view from channel 32 then you are simply retarded. I can also see why Quinn, despite being the most incompetent Governor of all time, was re-elected.
