Suburban Cop Killer up for PArole

Question:
  • We see the petitions at the desk and pass them around roll call whenever they come up.  Does Chicago FOP ever circulate petitions for Officers killed in the line of duty for our suburban brothers and sisters?  We're pretty sure we've seen some around at times, but is it a regular thing?
As the largest FOP organization in the state and second largest nationwide, one would hope that our voice could be heard to assist smaller Departments in making sure the criminals who killed their co-workers serve every minute of their sentences.

We received an e-mail today:
  • As an avid reader of your blog, I noticed that you sometimes post about upcoming parole hearings for those who have killed police officers. I was wondering if you would be able to write a post about one that is a little closer to home for all of us.

    Patrolman Anthony Charles Raymond

This was my aunt's brother, and since both offenders were sentenced (with the intention that they die in prison) she has been leading a crusade each time they have come up for parole to ensure that they aren't released. Fortunately one of the offenders died in prison in 2009, but the other is unfortunately still alive and once again up for parole. I've also submitted this hearing to ODMP for posting on their "no parole for cop killers" page.

I've attached the cover letter and petition that she has drawn up, I (as well as my family and especially my aunt) would greatly appreciate if you would be able to create a post referencing this.

I've also been in contact with Duke over at dukesblotter.com, and he was kind enough to write a post on this as well, just trying to drum up whatever support I can so that they can deny parole for this scumbag again.

Thanks for your help and best regards,
    Pat Blair
Duke's Blotter has the petitions up on his site. We're hoping some interested parties can get these signed and forwarded to the Prisoner Review Board in a timely fashion.

The answer is NO! I have had the honor of meeting a family member of Anthony and have learned of what a religious and good person he was. I also learned of the circumstances of his murder and the finding of his body. It is chilling. There is NO collaborated effort! It is a shame. They do forget. It rare that exempt members even attend hearings for their own. For the most part it is PO's. They, exempts , want you to do battle , but when it comes to these issues they are absent!! Shame on you!!!! Shame on you!!!! My family still fights to keep my fathers killer in prison!!! I will tip my hat to Ex. Sup. Phil Cline who has organized efforts to keep cop killers behind bars. Gold Star Family member and P.O. K.Kaner.

Contact Frank DiMaria at the FOP.

He is the point person on petitions for parole hearings.

And, there are usually petitions at the front desk of the Academy for upcoming hearings. Feel free to stop by there and sign one or head on over to the hall on Washington St.

Frank will email you blank copies if you want to post them in the districts but someone needs to be the point person and be sure that they get back to the FOP.

Keep him locked up. You can't rehabilitate a cop killer.

No parole for cop killers. In fact, parole shouldn't even be an issue because cop killers should be executed. Officer Raymond's murder was particularly heinous, and his family was tortured for months not knowing his fate. Keep the SOB in prison, preferably in the deepest hole they can put him in.

I am going with Officer Raymond's sister to a hearing at the Dixon Correctional Prison on Dec 3rd. This will be the second time. We have to walk through the cafeteria which is full of prisoners to go to the hearing room where our remarks are recorded. I find this disgraceful. It is I believe to discourage the family. The killer of PO Raymond is old and the board is trying to reduce population by parolling these prisoners. There was no death penalty back in 1972. My friend lives this every two to three years and she can never let her guard down or this animal will be released. PLEASE HELP!!!

From a troll: Thanks Officer Kurt Kaner and bless you and your family. Anthony was a young Hillside policeman brutalized for hours by low ranking, west suburban mobbed up hoods he stumbled upon in a traffic stop minutes after they robbed a restaurant at 22nd and Mannheim. His remains were not recovered for 10 months before they were returned to his family for Catholic burial. ( A former mobbed up CPD Deputy Chief was instrumental in solving this case because he knew who to lean on. He may be a crook but as I citizen I am grateful for what he contributed in this case) Raymonds' radio requests for help were not heard because of shared band traffic. (This incident was the begining of what you police now know as ISPERN) He left a wife and two small children. The stress on his wife was more than she could handle over time and it is my understanding she passed before living a full life. His parents really never recovered from their grief either. It is simply appalling that we as citizens have to fight again to keep one of his killers in prison but I hope everyone will check out information about Officer Anthony Raymond on the net. Then write a letter to the PRB. God Bless the surviving members of Anthony's family. We stand with you. Many may have not posted on the ODMP site but many of us thought of you in our prayers.

Kurt,

You dad taught this rookie well when we worked Fillmo' together. I'm sure he's looking down at you with great pride. He was one helluva cop and a gentleman.

May Officer Anthony Raymond, Hillside PD, and Kenny Kaner rest in peace while their murderers burn in Hell.

I remember the details from Investigators I knew back then. He was stabbed and put in a drum and buried. He wasn't dead when he was buried.

My Dad was a Hillside PO and friend of Anthony Raymond's.

For Officers who don't know the story Officer Raymond was kidnapped during a traffic stop on the Eisenhower near Manheim Road when he stumbled upon a group of Robery Suspects.

He was the subject of a National Search and was located quite sometime later buried in a drum in a Wisconsin Farm Field. He had been tortured before his death.

Ask any old timer and they all know the case. The petition is a worthwhile cause.

PO, Class 91-8D

Ken, Frank Di Maria never passed out petitions or attended a parole hearing for the person who killed your father?

The Anthony family would appreciate any help they could get from the CPD. Anthony Raymond's sister, Maryann Blair, is married to my wife's cousin Don.They have many connections to the CPD. Keith Blair in 008, Julie Blair in 009, Mike Dineen in 004, and Pete Edwards in 006. Please go to the link in the above post and print the petitions. Get some signatures and you can forward them to me. I thank you in advance for any help you can give in this matter. Chuck Dineen, 001 2nd watch

Anthony Raymond, Hillside P.O. was abducted in early 70's after a traffic stop in Hillside, IL. The vehicle was occupied by two that had recently commited a burglary of a nearby resturant. They abducted, beat and tortured Ofc. Raymond and eventually buried his body in a 55 gallon barrel, later discovered in Wisconsin. Prior to the stop his radio traffic was covered over because of so many suburban departments on one radio band.....this event led to most suburbs going to a new radio system that had only 5 or 6 departments on each band rather then the customary 50, 60 or more. The two that abducted Ofc. Raymond were lower echelon mob underlings.....I'm pretty sure I have the facts straight, seems like so long ago. Officer Raymond, Rest in Peace

Further info:
I,(K.Kaner)was at 26th and Cal for a parole hearing when I learned of the Anthony Raymond story. An Officer that worked the case told me of how after they obtained information about a possible burial site they dug for hours with negative results.Close to calling the search and conducting a final dig a shovel was thrust into the earth striking a solid object. That object was Officer Raymond's badge. He said it was like divine intervention.
God Bless the Raymond family.

Cop killers should get life without parole. It is totally unconscionable how our society doesn't value those that protect them.
