Disarmament is the Goal
A couple people have accused the blog of being overly panicked concerning the gun debate. That all of the ongoing drama coming out of Washington is just that - drama. Sorry that you choose to live in a bubble, but universal disarmament is the goal of the left. They may not all espouse it all of the time, but if you pay attention, enough do it to make it worth pointing out:
- San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne is fully supportive of the Obama/Feinstein gun grab, and says if lawmakers play it right Americans can be completely disarmed within "generation."
Lansdowne has gone on record saying: "I could not be more supportive of the president for taking the position he has. I think it's courageous with the politics involved in this process. [And] I think it's going to eventually make the country safer."
He made it clear that it may take "a generation," but new laws could eventually take all guns off the streets.
This is quite a departure from other law enforcement personnel we've seen around the country--particularly Sheriffs--who've come out firmly against any infringement on the 2nd Amendment. We've cheered those officials for standing with the people, and now Lansdowne has taken a position completely opposite them.
Moreover, Lansdowne has also been slamming the NRA in interviews. And he seems overtly thrilled at the money the NRA is being forced to spend to get their message out in the wake of the crime at Sandy Hook Elementary. "We broke the NRA," says Lansdowne.
One guy in California, but one guy with a bit of influence - a "useful idiot" as Lenin used to call them. And one guy who feels more than a little at ease with the direction his political masters seem to be taking.
Of course, he's completely out of touch with reality claiming "We broke the NRA" as the NRA is recruiting in record numbers (over half a million NEW members since December, on pace to break a million by March.) And the disconnect from every single reliable study that proves more guns make for less crime is typical for a leftist such as he.
Four years ago, we would have doubted anyone was ignorant enough to think they could somehow confiscate 300 million weapons in the hands of the citizenry. Since four weeks ago, another 50 million or so weapons have been purchased and ammo is scarcer than we've ever seen. While we aren't members/supporters of any militia groups or "end-of-days" type survivalists, being the police it only makes sense to pay attention to what is going on right now. If the tiny brains surfing around here think that's crazy, then we'll take crazy any day of the week.

There is a difference between politically-appointed kiss-asses like Lansdowne & McCarthy and legitimately-elected law enforcement officials. Cook County excluded, for obvious reasons.
This is one example of why certain groups only respect the sheriff and have no regard for city police.

Ever read the book More Guns Less Crime. By JohnLott? Great book. Like it or not, guns are an equalizer. What about these domestic violence/stalker victims? If they were armed, they could protect themselves. Citizens could protect themselves and their families.

Really the government want to take away 100 Million guns when they can’t find 14 or 24 million illegal immigrants! So, I no longer have handguns or rifles I own undocumented self-protection devices.

As for the NRA, I think they will be fine. A lot of us have upped our membership and/or made donations. Americans are starting to wake up.

I have personally added 4 people to the NRA in the past 3 weeks, and I haven't even been trying yet.
Obama is going to trot out all the useful idiots like McMoron, Ramsey in Philly, this Landsdowne fool and plop them right in front of the state-run-propaganda machine.

The left cannot comprehend that the NRA/ISRA are true grass-roots organizations -- that we all pay our $30 a year, no one pays us to attend rallies with our own homemade signs (hell, we take off work to go), and we're all writing our own letters and flooding Congress with calls and e-mails. This is what a real grass roots uprising looks like, not their manufactured outrage of their "protesters". If the NRA closed down tomorrow the members wouldn't stop fighting to preserve our Second Amendment rights -- we're fighting because of the principle of the thing, not because the NRA told us to.
They can't comprehend this. The left would kill for this kind of honest activism on their side, but that's the problem with relying on the lazy vote.
Every statistic shows that Obamas gun grabbing agenda will only endanger lives and put you and your family at risk. Remember, guns dont kill people. Its just an object. I don't understand how these chiefs of police can get away with this sort of talk when it is totally opposite of the oath of office they swore to uphold. Same with any elected official. They all swore on a bible to uphold and defend the constitution, yet they all seem to be doing whatever they can to go against it. Isn't that a punishable offense?
Hypothetically, if an assault weapons ban were to become law, under the proposed legislation which clearly states it will not be retroactive, how is the Government going to "take your guns"? Looking forward to rational responses.

Listen jackass, there is NO clarification in the legislation for the proposed 'gun ban'. Thats the way these current Dems do it. They push through bills and then fill in the particulars later, based on what is suitable for them. (Eg., Obamacare, the current Immigration bill, etc.). It just happened in New York under Gov. Cuomo and was just attempted under Cullerton here in Illinois, during the past lame duck session.

Th liberal gun grabbers have stated more then once that their ultimate goal is for " Mr and Mrs America to turn in their guns". And, they have stated, more then once, that they know this will be a long term fight that will be won one law at a time. If they get the seats on the US Supreme Court, then the 2nd Amendment will be reinterpreted to leave out personal possession. If weapons are registered, as liberals would like, then turn in or confiscation is the next step. There was no 2nd Amendment in England, Australia or Canada, but private owned weapons were registered. Once weapons were banned it was very easy to come knocking on doors demanding the guns. By the way, that is also exactly what happened in Germany, China and the Soviet Union. Dont say it cant happen here.The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or target shooting.
