- Gov. Pat Quinn this afternoon floated a desperation plan on pension reform, throwing his support behind a bill that would set up a commission to decide how to fix Illinois' financially failing government worker retirement systems.
Conventional efforts to craft a compromise on pension changes have gone nowhere during the lame-duck session. The new measure filed today would set up an eight-member commission appointed by the four legislative leaders. The panel would issue a report on pension system changes that would become law unless the General Assembly voted to overturn it.
Testifying before a House panel, Quinn said the measure represents "extraordinary action" to break the gridlock. It is modeled after federal military base closing commission reports to Congress. "We must have some sort of movement," Quinn said.
Great idea! Form a committee! A committee of scapegoats who everyone can blame when the ship finally sinks.

- The Illinois House today approved a measure to allow illegal immigrants to get temporary driver's licenses, sending it to a supportive Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn.
The 65-46 vote came after a lengthy debate in which backers and foes laid out their cases.
Rep. Dennis Reboletti, R-Elmhurst, cited numerous concerns about public safety. Opponents questioned why fingerprinting isn't part of the legislation. Republican Rep. Randy Ramey of DuPage County said too many issues are left unanswered.
“There are going to be far too many people who will get these cards,” Ramey said. “There’ll be fraud, abuse.”
House Republican leader Tom Cross, however, supported the measure saying Illinois should be a place welcoming to immigrants "who want to work, who want to be part of our communities. We should work with them, not fight with them."
Then how about they follow, oh we don't know, the rules? Communities have rules, laws and such you know. That's part of what makes them "communities."

With regard to pensions.
The taxpayers did their job to fund the pensions. The police, fire, teachers, public workers and their unions did their jobs.
The political apparatus that stole the money, diverting it to their no-bid contract cohorts are trying like hell to pit the evil, greedy, public workers and their unions against the taxpayers.
If they can get away with it the politicians will be off the hook with the pension theft.
With regard to Illegal Immigrant drivers licenses we wonder what politically correct tag we are going to use now. We can't call them undocumented aliens anymore. They'll have documentation!
What a nice "Broken Windows" law enforcement strategy and slap in the face it all is. We showed them. We're a nation of laws...here's your drivers license. Screw all the people standing in line waiting to come into the country the right way. HAHAHAH what fools you all are. That's not how you do it. Kick the doors to the nation open and demand your rights!!

If any of those estimates should leak out it's gonna eff-up the pension crisis talks, and the union give backs, the shared sacrifice crap that is being pedaled.

This has become a witch hunt on public workers and their pensions.
How about the focus of the witch hunt shifts to every politician who ever voted to misappropriate funds that were earmarked for pension contributions in the past? Let them be held accountable instead of now trying to screw the poor workers who have nothing else but their meager pensions to rely upon.
There have always been temporary DL's called TDL's. One could get one for 90 days twice without a social security number, just a fake Immigrant card and fake birth cert.

Pension. Nobody deserves a public pension at a rate of the job they been exempted to or appointed to by someone they know. Nobody deserves double and triple public pensions. Nobody should be getting a pension they were able to buy. (Daley and while lot of others). Cut off all those and that erases a lot of debt right off right away. A pension system should never be underfunded. If we had social security. Can a private business underfund there social security payments? No! Someone would end up in jail! Why ain't this the case here???

Just watch. Now with a drivers license, illegals will take local and state jobs away from citizens. IDOT and CDOT will start highering illegals to fill jobs and replace current workers for less pay all with taxpayer money. Rhams already looking for private companies to privatize city union jobs. It is time to quickly buy some rental property in Pilsen and thereabouts because the Spanish/English road maps from Mexico to Chicago are already being printed up.
Soon there will be a large influx of new "immigrants" and someone needs to be here to greet them and to rent them apartments and get them on the bus to get their brand new Illinois Drivers Licenses.

With regards to the driver's licenses for illegals, I would say that besides all the money the state is going to make off this, it will make it that much easier for all those now documented illegals to vote in the next election.

I love my country, but I am so saddened by what the politicians have done to the citizens of this country. Both sets of my grandparents came here legally. They worked hard, were too proud to take a handout from anyone. I never learned how to speak their native language, as they were so proud to be Americans, we only heard English spoken in their homes, even if it as one would say, broken English at times. My one grandmother raised her children, took care of her home, and went to night school so that she could become a better American. I remember how proud they all were and how fortunate they felt that they could come to America. My grandparents always told me they owed so much to this country. Sadly, today the immigrants feel that our country owes them. We won't need a war to come upon our soil to make the U.S. fall....I'm afraid our politician's and their extreme liberal process will be the fall of this great country.
It angers me that this country doesn't take care of the returning vets who have fought for this country, but somehow have all the resources available for illegals.

Are car insurance agencies required to provide service to licensed drivers? Or can they legally decline for any or no reason?
Cause I tell ya... Licensed or not, I don't see any illegal staying put at the scene of an accident where they are at fault, period.

I think I will go to Mexico and ask for a drivers license and health care, schooling, voting, etc. They will find my ass dead in the ocean or mountains.

Lisa Madigan has made herself impeachable by not prosecuting ANY of these sniveling politicians for even suggesting that illegal ALIENS (calling them "immigrants" is like calling a streetcorner drug dealer a pharmacist) be allowed to get a legal driving permit of any sort. Sanctuary Cities?! Being here undocumented is a Federal crime. Can't imagine why we aren't able to report illegals to ICE anymore...
