Three Daylight Homicides
- By Tuesday evening, three people had been slain — all in broad daylight — on a day in which temperatures soared to 63, a record for Jan. 29. In addition to Cannon, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head in the East Side neighborhood at about 8 a.m.; the 15-year-old girl was shot at about 2:30 p.m. a few blocks from King College Prep after finishing classes at the North Kenwood high school.
With two days still left in the month, this marked the second consecutive January in which Chicago has hit at least 40 homicides. The 40 homicides last January represented a jump of 43 percent from 28 in January 2011. While Chicago never quite recovered over the rest of the year from an even sharper jump in violence over the first quarter of 2012, homicides fell or were flat in the year's last four months.
Crime experts caution it's way too early to suggest the disappointing January numbers mean violence in Chicago will continue at a similar pace throughout this year.

Has anyone noticed that how these ghetto gang banger savages are moving into 016 at an alarming rate? About five years ago I noticed it a little. Then every single fucking year right when the weather warms up in late spring I would notice an increase. The past few days when it was warm I noticed an uptick. I live by Portage Park. The loud music, the loud music coming from cars that just go circling around the block again and again, people talking loud, people hanging out on street corners, these assholes looking "hard" at you just for you glancing at them, etc...

Speaking of the academy, Lodding is completely in it over his head. He has no idea what has happened to the quality of training in the last year. Currently, he tried to stop all physical activity because of a few recruits were sick. The staff needs permission to take recruits on a simple run. Lodding over reacts to every problem. I mean a serious over reaction to the point of temper tantrums and panic attacks. It is a shame had bad the quality of training has dropped in the last 8 months.

This same weekend last year had more murders than this last weekend

Dont expect any more ford SUVs anytime soon. I work in fleet in the area 1 garage(yes, civilian) and the city has defaulted on the payments to ford for the explorers. Obviously we all first thought its business as usual just lost paperwork or slow payments from the city that works etc. Nope, the city is just no paying it. They told ford that they will pay the bill in full in six months. Ford fired back saying that no more deliveries will be made to the city of cars, parts etc until the bill is paid. City still says nope and ford is taking a hard line. So, what does this mean??? First off, the city and ford have a CONTRACT that usually keeps the required parts and vehicles flowing in as we need them or order them. Now, ford is screaming foul for breach of contract.. which, this is. Im guessing if the city continues to blow them off(which seems to be their intention) then we at fleet will be at a standstill with any repairs to any and all fords for new parts that we currently dont have in stock. We will have to use the restocks of the cars we have in our graveyard to pull used parts from. This will result in cars being down longer or extremely worn out and unsafe used parts being put on squad cars. Its a mess. Stay tuned for this one...

SCC I just received a phone call tonight from a close friend from call back. He told me that Pam Secman from channel 2 cbs is going to coppers houses, that have been stripped. She is coming up to them before they leave to go to work, and asking them why are you stripped, and getting paid a full salrary? Just another FYI while talking to the time keeper today that everyone will be swiping in as of 31 March but the Department is having problems with the court sections swiping in and out. I know for sure traffic court and 26 cal just got theres installed on friday, and monday of this week. I guess there is no more late ducks or time at the end. She further informed me that there will be a 30 minute window for you to get to work. So be prepared to bring your portable dvd player and tv....hahaha. Also for the overtime your sgt or DSS will have to give an estimate time into the computer system as how long it will take you to finish your job. But if you go over that time frame they have to go back into the system and change it. So no more Yellow slips! Just wanted to tell the troops whats going on with the dept. I have 22 years as a police officer/sergeant, half of my life. Worked in 7 districts all over the city, north, south and west. Worked patrol, units, and tact. Im a couple years from retirement. We joke about chalkie and other violent death situations which every police officer becomes numb. As you get older you also find the good in most situations . I remember in 007 in about 1992 when CAPS began and I was forced to know the public. I found some very good people in the worst areas and committed myself to them. I always had a soft spot for the kids in a bad situation and dealing with it was hard like for most of us. I still find our murder rate being higher than our clearance rate, a plus but most, 99% of the victims are scumbags that deserve it. But every once and a while a good one gets it and I think this situation is one. Whats bad is that that personal feeling will soon dissipate with the political scum get involved. Father Phaleger, Mayor Emanuel, Gary McCarthy. Our department is a failure and those same political people have destroyed it. It won't happen in my career but the dept. will turn around. It will take a mayor that respects the police and a superintendent that is not a political asshole and a boss like the sheriff that recently came out in Milwaukee and told the citizens to exercise their second amendment rights. All to often repeat offenders are responsible for the majority of the crime in this city. I too am sorry for his loss. Are we police officers and family of innocent victims the only to realize this??? No more second and third chances for these pieces of shit, which I am guessing this offender has had. Cook County ASAs and judges need a refresher course on how to keep offenders locked up. In the case of Cline it's pretty hard to survive the fallout from a rogue piece of shit beating a defenseless woman. In case you didn't notice, the embarrassing video went viral around the world; that usually means people are going to be fired. There were also several other high profile embarrassing police misconduct incidents on his watch. Someone had to take the fall and it was Cline.
I can only assume you're not a cop because that would be the only reason why you wouldn't understand the outrage regarding Weis/Cozzi.
I'm not sure how you defend McDumbfuck and his failed policies that resulted in 500 homicides last year.
So in summary, if you're the Supt and there are several high profile incidents of officers disgracing the badge on your watch, if you fail to back your guys and fuck them over, or if you implement failed policies that lead to more homicides than any other city in the country, more than likely, you will be unpopular on this blog and there will be people calling for you to lose your job. It comes with the territory.

Just another FYI while talking to the time keeper today that everyone will be swiping in as of 31 March but the Department is having problems with the court sections swiping in and out. I know for sure traffic court and 26 cal just got theres installed on friday, and monday of this week. I guess there is no more late ducks or time at the end. She further informed me that there will be a 30 minute window for you to get to work. So be prepared to bring your portable dvd player and tv....hahaha. Also for the overtime your sgt or DSS will have to give an estimate time into the computer system as how long it will take you to finish your job. But if you go over that time frame they have to go back into the system and change it. So no more Yellow slips! Just wanted to tell the troops whats going on with the dept. Be safe, out there brothers and sisters.
yawwwnnn, as a time keeper myself who ACTUALLY paid attention at the meetings your "facts" are completely false. The hand print and swipeing will only be once a day. They are not for payroll and overtime reasons. They are to make sure people are at work when they say they are. The court sections etc are getting the scanners because cpd officers work in the building and need to swipe also. It will not be for officers attending court, those will still be logged in with yellow slips. They cant do it for court because many some court locations are not city property like civil attorneys offices. Those will also continue to use yellow slips and phone calls into ops command. also, bridgeview, markham and skokie will also not have these machines because no cpd personel work there. so, all of your scare tactics are bull. also, the march 31st thing is also not correct. Some places dont even have the swipers yet. so, carrying people may be done with.. thats about it. It will be one swipe a day.. doesnt matter what time of day, just some time during your tour. get it right and tell your "friend" to pay attention at the meetings.

Speaking of the academy, Lodding is completely in it over his head. He has no idea what has happened to the quality of training in the last year. Currently, he tried to stop all physical activity because of a few recruits were sick. The staff needs permission to take recruits on a simple run. Lodding over reacts to every problem. I mean a serious over reaction to the point of temper tantrums and panic attacks. It is a shame had bad the quality of training has dropped in the last 8 months.

Before anything can change, what it will really take is:
1. Enough citizens successfully voting out the incumbents, any incumbents, preferably most all incumbents, no matter who the challengers are who get voted in. No numbers game and not making apologies for black people hiding behind an abomination that ended 150 years ago. There are no white ghettos in New Hampshire like Englewood etc. I have spent time there. White trash for sure, New Hampshire hillbillies etc. But not whole societies that have totally broken down like here and in other big cities.
I get it, you don't like black people. That society is ruined, broken, failed with no end in sight. What's the answer? Who the hell knows. It isn't what is happening now. It isn't government give-aways, it isn't LINK cards and the rest. Any possible improvement is generations in the future and will come from inside their society and culture, not from well intentioned democrats.
I tend to favor improving the overall economic climate so jobs are available and hold people accountable for their own lot in life. No free passes out of jail because you might have been born with a percentage +/- of brown skin.
