Stop the Violence!
Now we're hosting "youth summits" to inform the "children" about not being naughty:
- The Chicago Police Department hosted a town hall meeting to educate the city's youth about the recent rise in violence in some neighborhoods.
ABC 7's sportscaster Jim Rose was the host and keynote speaker of Saturday's event on the South Side in Ogden Park.
Kids aged 8-12 years old attended the event to learn how to stop violence and gangs in their areas.
But something must have been lost in translation if you read the story at the top of the page today. Perhaps more jails? More orphanages and debtor prisons? More work farms?

Rose appeared on a "Stop the Violence" 'discussion' on Windy City Live channel 7 late Friday night that included Fr Pfleger, Corey(up on the roof) Brooks. a Cease Fire worker, etc. Rose was in near full "blame the police" mode. Almost as sickening to watch as host Ryan Chiaverini "ban the guns" screed. The only one who made sense was Cheryl Burton, who talked bout growing up on the south side and having a good life - with two parents - something no one else was willing to mention.

It's gonna be all about the neighborhoods. Bringing the people of the various tribal communities together ...ha.
The rich hoods are gonna sponser the poor hoods to build floats to run down the river -- at that place they just blew $100 million dollars on.
The city is gonna let artist from the hoods design the floats to put out the messages on what they would like to see changed in their communitees. They'll do it for free of course.
The elite entertaining themselves by seeing how many hoops they can get the churls to jump thru, selling them on some b.s.about being somebody.

When asked how much this is gonna cost the taxpayers there was no comment.

Unfortunately, people seem to think these kids are forward thinking when most don't think at all. They are not mischievous or naughty. They are downright criminal.
Again someone else has so raise/educate those kids. Useless fucking parents are the real problem. I hope they handed out condoms after the event to begin stopping this fucked up cycle.

This is channel 7's initiative, not Rose's or Burton's. They did a big stop the violence push after Hadiya's death, on that ridiculous morning show they put on to replace Oprah.
There was some kind of 'audience input' thing, asking for suggestions on what the city wants to do to address the GUN violence problem in the city. Looks like this is the result of the response.
As for Burton, she's no genius. She's a pretty face who often forgets how to read the teleprompter. Nothing more. And Rose seems uncomfortable when he's forced into the position of representing his station in these dog and pony shows.
Two parent families are essential. That made me the man I am today.

It's not that the streets are unsafe. It's that you "perceive" that the streets are unsafe.
I love Dickens. First Dickens was Great Expectations in sophomore high school. That was fantastic! For anyone who has never read Dickens, go get Great Expectations.

And his last name is a mystery to mama. His first name is often 'L'il Man' or 'Big Green' or 'Rock'. When you ask what's his real name, not his street name, mama looks at you all blank and surprised. "I dunno", is the response.
Yes..a little late posting..didn't see this until now..My son was the youngest one on the panel..Yes...two parents in our home..Yes. .both work make good $$..Yes..own TWO homes..YES...my younger son is a STRAIGHT A student..Yes. .he founded a PEACE group in his school..YES...he plays sports. Yes..we have a college fund for him...NO..he doesn't go anywhere alone...Just like my older son. .but he was murdered anyway. .buying a can of soda..And yes..it was on video..and ... NO..He never was arrested. .We worked hard so he wouldn't be a STATISTIC...but...someone else didn't. .
