Why hasn't gov jello issued the official word to drop the flags for this Trooper?
May God watch over and help his family during this difficult time.
RIP
Gone but not forgotten.
May G-d bless your family and friends. Rest in peace we'll take it from here brother.jK
My condolences to his wife, family and Illinois State Police. R.I.P. It's a shame!
Godspeed "Troop"! :(
Died way too young.
another knight in shining armor has been taken from us way too soon--- he was already a hero before he even worked his first day in patrol--- he came to the aid of a downed female motorcyclist on the xway and performed emergency medical treatment which saved her life--- rest in peace brother and our most heartfelt condolences to his family....
Rest In Peace,Trooper.
Rest in peace, in the kingdom of heaven.
R.I.P. Trooper, for you are a REAL hero.
May GOD hold you in the palm of his hand and watch over your family.
Sincere condolences to his fellow Troopers.
CPD Sgt.
Thank you guys at CPD. This is devastating, I was Jim's partner on patrol. He was my little brother. I'm completely lost and feel like crap. I just want to yell and go crazy. I drive down the interstate today thinking the whole time I'll never be able to bust his chops again. I cannot stop crying. This hurt sucks. I've been doing this job for a while and I'm half way through my career. I can't imagine not seeing Jim again. This is very tough and I don't want anyone to go through this. Please tell your partners how much they mean to you because if I could I'd give Jim a big ass hug.

My Prayers, so very sad. RIP Trooper.
God bless you, your friends and family. May you rest in peace.
Many thanks and much appreciation to all the CPD who showed so much respect for our trooper at the morgue. Heard about it even downstate, and saw it on WGN. That was truly awesome. I did my time on the tollway and loved it, and learned to love and respect all the CPD. They were always great to me. Always made me laugh when they thought it was more dangerous on the expressways and tollways than working in the city. I just told them there were many kinds of dangerous. And at times like these CPD shows how great a group and a department it is. Thanks again. Rest In Peace Trooper Sauter.

I new Jim from the health club. A great guy everybody liked. Such s tragedy
OT:
WE ARE CALLING UPON THE MAYOR TO:
BAN THESE McDONALDS!!!
They should of shut down the Mag Mile for the peoples safety as the heat wave has struck downtown today -- ya know we fear that people will pass out from the heat and emergency responders will not be able to get to them. It must be at least 60-F out there!
It's just one more tool in our tool-kit said officer McTollBox.
More cars needed on State and... no, no, no wait -- scratch that more cars needed on Huron and... no wait scratch that..
Get on the cameras and tell people "there's a heavy police presence" so the touristo's will think everything is under control.
THEY NEED TO KEEP SHOPPING FOR GODS SAKE KEEP SHOPPING OR THE TERRORIST HAVE WON AND WE WON'T GET THEIR MONEY..
Shades of things to come I guess.
RIP trooper prayers for your family GODSPEED BROTHER!

So terribly sorry for your loss, my friend. God bless and help you and yours in this time of grief.
You will not be the same -- and that is the biggest compliment that you could pay someone, that they made a hell of a difference in both their living and their passing -- but you will be stronger, with time, and the best of your friend will stay on in you and those others who knew and worked with him.
"...if I could I'd give Jim a big ass hug."
You just did.
To the ISP, I feel I speak for the the CPD when saying how sorry we feel for your loss! Were are here for you guys and gals. If you need to vent, cry or scream!!! We will be there to stand by you in your time of need.
Respectfully Ken 014
From a troll: This was absolutely awful and prayers for him and to his family during concerns on Easter. I think the ISP does a great job on the highways and we are grateful they are there. The conduct at the ME office by CPD was outstanding. Thanks to the CFD who were forced to perform a very difficult job there. There needs to be an accounting of what happened and I am sure there will be.
As a newly retired Trooper I want to thank CPD for standing at the ME's office as Trooper Sauter was removed from his squad. I worked I-57 in Central Illinois. I shouldn't be here. I had 3 occasions where I shouldn't be alive. But I am. I stopped a lot of CPD and other cops... I never wrote any of you guys... Even the female running 120 mph n-bnd early one morning. ( Although I did chew her butt.) Again... Thanks CPD... Be safe out there.

We feel your pain, brother.
Jim was blessed knowing that he had a dedicated and caring partner such as yourself.
We too, are partners as one, attached by the brotherhood of that...
"Thin Blue Line"
Rest in Peace our Brother, God has called you to 'serve' in a better place.

Several times today, my thoughts went back to the post from this trooper's partner. I can't tell you how that heartbreaking post affected me all day. I think I'll give my old partner a call tomorrow and tell him what a difference he made in my life, while I still can.
RIP Trooper Sauter. Godspeed.
