Channel 7 had a weather report Tuesday afternoon that stated this was the 13th coldest March on record. We understand the data goes back over 100 years or so.

The one constant over decades is the weather. Strategies come and go. Superintendents come and go. Aggressive policing waxes and wanes.
But every police officer knows it'll be a long quiet night if it's a frigid, icy night, and it'll be a busy, brutal night if it's a hot and humid one.
Why do the 'experts' feel the need to argue the result of eons of human evolution?

If you ignore 2012 and look at 2011, we are only 6 homicides away from keeping pace with the homicides of 2011
2011: 75 homicides
2013: 69 homicides
That's not a decrease in the increase, or a increase in the decrease...
...that's normal homicide totals, even with the VRI programs saturating the ghettos

VRI on every corner, the district resorces there, outside sat units there. The ghetto gets incredible police service and protection, meanwhile my beat has none. me and my family and our neighbors get none for being good responsible non criminal tay payers. I guess our property and our lives mean less to McCarthy and Rahm. When is everybody going to speak up and say "enough" and "not fair". Way too many sheep out there, what a shame!
Working in a South Side district i can tell you that the weather AND VRI are the main reasons for the curb in violence.
I would say more the VRI though. It's amazing to see all the help we have down there now. It was sorely needed. Talking to the mopes on the street, they say that they can't go a block without seeing a police. Their neighborhoods are truly on lockdown. It's fantastic.
As a side note, the good citizens of the neighborhoods absolutely love it too. They can walk around again and for the first time in a long long time they're starting to feel safe again.

Well, it's nice to see 2211A, a dedicated car for beat 2211 not assigned an event and heading eastbound on 87th at Halsted last night. Also saw them east of the Dan Ryan the other night too not assigned an event. Way to go guys. How about getting some neighborhood guys on that car that actually give a shit? Tired of the ghetto getting all the service while our whole neighborhood gets one car who can't even manage to stay on the goddam beat. If you wanna head east, bid out to 005.
Speaking of VRI, anyone hear about the new rumor? Its going around that the VRI may be around for a few years..... Start investing some of that money into a good retirement plan boys and girls. We may be able to retire and be able to survive with a couple bucks in the bank.
BTW, anyone looking for a part time job outside the Department (if you even need it now) should find one very easily. Security companies cant find any help from off duty Police, no PO wants to work for them when they can work VRI.
