Illinois State Police trooper helps raise car off U of I student
RANTOUL -- An Illinois state trooper helped lift a car off of a University of Illinois student on Interstate 57 during Monday's heavy snow.
State Trooper Brian Scott was helping motorists whose vehicles were stopped north of Rantoul because of snow. He said he saw the car skid into 21-year-old Ethan Asofsky and come to rest on him.
The News-Gazette in Champaign reports that Scott is a 300-pound former lineman who played for the University of Illinois football team in the late 1990s. After failing to lift the car on his own he enlisted the help of two other people and finally raised the car high enough for Asofsky's friend to pull him free.
Asofsky is from Chicago and was listed in fair condition Tuesday at a Champaign hospital.

I am no fan of Rham, loath the man's politics...Daley even more.
But, The black hand? Let it go. The man is doing a job.
So, the guy has got a good spot. And, maybe he got that spot because of somebody he knows.

the writers from 'Boss' or 'Breaking Bad' would be better.
That's the brown line, so he is more in danger of somebody trying to force him to take their screenplay to give to his brother Ari than he is of being robbed or assaulted.

Just want to let you guys know a Illinois State Trooper was killed tonight on 294 near Willow. Please say a prayer for him and his family. He was a personal friend of mine and a team member on my shift. He was a great guy. Only the good die young.

I'm truly sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and colleague. My thoughts and prayers are with you and of course for him, his family and friends. Your last sentence is one that has gone through my head a thousand times over the years after the loss of my friend and colleague to a drunk driver back in the seventies- he wasn't an Officer btw. Still, it's so hard to accept the sudden senseless loss of the really special ones. Stay safe and stay strong.

Like Rahm? You have got to be kidding? This guy is out to destroy the working man. He is totally against unions. Gives the head of CPS $250,000 not to work & plans to lay off thousands of teachers; deunionizes custodians @ the airport; raises fees & taxes; lays off thousands of working class people. Get a life. Life is all about work. If people had jobs, there would be less crime, less medical abuse, less welfare recipients, less handiouts, better economy. Jobs, jobs, jobs... that is the crisis... Go back & see what FDR did. He made people work. Self esteem goes up, families are complete, people have $, & the economy grows. Rahm only wants to pay himself, not the hard working stiff W/o clout & connects. Get a life. Get a job. Maybe then, you'll have a wife, too.
