- Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Monday that the father of a 6-month-old girl slain last week on the South Side was not changing his daughter's diaper when she was fatally shot, contrary to what police told the news media on the day of the shooting.
Speaking at an unrelated news conference, McCarthy said Jonathan Watkins, the father who was wounded in the gunfire in the Woodlawn neighborhood, is cooperating with investigators but could be more helpful.
"At this point, we think there's a lot more that he can help us with, but he is, in fact, cooperating with the investigation," McCarthy told reporters at a Southwest Side police station. "We think that there's more that he can tell us."
Golly. Who'd have thunk it? Someone did mention to Garry that this would be "snitching," right?

- McCarthy said the baby was shot once, not multiple times as published in some reports. The bullet, though, injured several organs. She died the next morning. Her father suffered wounds to his buttock and left side and was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Thursday.
Only shot once? But the family listed five distinct wounds suffered by the child. And while we've all seen multiple entry-exit wounds from a single bullet, the listed wounds make conspiracy theories look possible:
- His young daughter was hit five times: in the thigh, shoulder, lung, liver and bowels, the family later said.
And you thought the JFK/Governor Connally "magic bullet" theory was far fetched? It looks completely plausible in light of this "shot once" statement. So the questions must be, why even mention this as it weakens the State's case and why is there an effort to rehab the image of an unmitigated and unrepentant asshole who dealt dope with his child in his lap and most likely used her as a shield? And why is the media slurping it up?

An internal investigation of the FOP counsel, paid for by the membership, ought to be general knowledge, right? The lawsuit posted cited an investigation undertaken by by Asher, Gittler and D'Alba. Shouldn't the membership have access to that report that Shields & Co is trying so hard to conceal from the plaintiff? After all, we pay everyone's salary and any attached investigations. We don't want our labor organization held liable, do we? If our union officials are assisting in the coverup, we're going to get tagged hard if the plaintiff wins. If it can be proved that Geiger was acting outside his role of lawyer and instead acting as a predator, it would behoove us to fire him as soon as possible.

In addition to now saying the baby was only hit once, Channel 9 News tonight also changed the part of the story about Baby Daddy standing outside the van changing a shitty diaper. Now, it seems, that he had the child on his lap during the incident. Uh huh, sure. Doing what exactly? Playing Patty Cake?
It gets even better....
The reporter was quick to allude that CPD is somehow responsible. I forget which asshole was reporting from the funeral home, but she mentioned something about a squad car (paraphrasing) "that should've been on the street when the shooting occurred, but was only a block or two over so they still got to the scene somewhat quickly. However the gunman had already fled the scene in a waiting car".
Then they also retracted the story about Baby Mama being shot while carrying the child. Can anyone confirm if this is fact or prove the original story as legitimate? It shouldn't be too hard for you media bust outs to do a little legwork and find a police report documenting a person shot and what hospital / physician treated the victim. FOIA that and report back with your findings, Channel 9.
This whole swing from the originally reported facts stinks to high Heaven. Sure, recollected memories become clearer and more facts and clues are mined after the dust settles, but there is no conceivable reason to have such a drastic change in story...UNLESS THE ORIGINAL STORY WAS TOTAL BULLSHIT and the powers that be wanted to minimize or hide something.
The only problem? Why is the CPD, at the direction of McLiar, covering for this piece of shit family? Baby Daddy is a multi-convicted felon, gang banger who has been less than totally cooperative and truthful with investigators. Anyone with half a brain knows that normal people don't hang out with their infants in a van, in a shithole neighborhood, in freezing temps. And any cop with half a brain knows what really was the probable chain of events that led to this latest ghetto tragedy.

After the theatrical wailing and flip-flopping like fish out of water, after the forced tears and mean-mugging for the news cameras, and after all the promises by the community to finally address the gang and drug problems devastating their neighborhoods and "do something about all these killings in the black community", they will return to doing nothing different.

I want to hear McCarthy give a press conference where he says the father has been charged with being responsible for his child's death and whatever applicable charges apply for interfering with the investigation. McCarthy stated he did not know why this misinformation was reported. Well Garry, it was because you disseminated the misinformation.
This is a big deal and you will see a dramatic change in headlines over the next few months.
Chicago reporters have had it with McCarthy's lies and spins. All of them have been fucked over by him and they are now all out to get him. Ask any of them when you see them out and about.

Single bullet is possible, means the human shield theory is out the window. Mom shot while expecting baby was never confirmed, not sure who put that out except somebody on this blog. Changing the diaper story sounds like dad changing his story, not the police. The reporters can only report what they learn from doing their interviews, and the police and the family have had bad information -- because dad gave them bad information, and because the number of bullet wounds probably wasn't immediately clear. (What does the ME say?)
It adds up to no human shield, but an uncooperative dad (it is upsetting to see the reporters report that he is "now cooperating" when in the same breath, they are saying he isn't telling all he knows) who has priorities other than catching the killers of his baby because he probably knows exactly who they are.
He's getting a pass and he shouldn't. The changed story about the diaper change ought to be a big signal that this guy is deeply involved in the pathology of this homicide. Not unlike Susan Smith or that guy in Boston who shot his wife and blamed it on a black guy. There is more than meets the eye and all the detectives likely have to work with is his account and the physical evidence. Plus the interference from Rev. Brooks, who should back far, far away from this guy.
I can pretty easily draw a line entering the thigh, going through bowels, liver, lungs and out shoulder (or vice versa) without any magic bullets pausing in midair or turning.

"Truth behind" nothing. It is the truth standing right out in front yelling for the whole world to see -- but we are supposed to go our whole lives with our heads turned to one side like we don't see it.
There was one of these deals in New Orleans, great photo, babydaddy was never anywhere in the child's life -- but as soon as the child was shot, there he was in an expensive suit and wraparound shades, releasing white doves into the sky. The guy did not have two brain cells to rub together. Who put him up to that elaborate stunt for the cameras? He himself has almost certainly been killed by now.
Now it is all over our radio and TV again, church packed to capacity again for standard babyfuneral again, all these mouths open as far as they will go with speeches of pretend "outrage."

I was told by somebody who is in the know that the baby was shoot in the should and then the bullet exited the thigh. While going they the body it damaged 5 organs. This person was part of the medical team that worked the baby.

One man on this web log who styles himself "I Fart In Your General Direction" puts more simple, everyday truth into one quick paragraph than do many looking-over-their-shoulder "reporters" do in an entire agonizing career.
What does that leave?
How many new exercise machines and clever little restaurants and rich people's hand-woven-in-Guatemala "green" houses that cost five times what a normal one does and "self-reinventing" blatant cronies and craven syncophants promoting books like, "How To Promote A Book" are going to be palmed off on us as "news?"
The media elites themselves are sensing a limited future for this sort of thing -- a growing discomfort in the region of their "virtual wallets" -- seeing as how they are the very sort of spineless, characterless follow-on individuals who fell all over themselves repeating the meaningless "sequestration," and are now obediently parroting the characterization of outright government theft of bank accounts as a "tax."

Anything but. The skill set you encounter is more like beating the kid's brains out on Thursday night, then be pacing back and forth like a tiger, waiting for babymama until she wanders home on Tuesday morning.
The rest of the world could fly out to San Diego to see Aunt Wilma for a couple of days, side trip for some shopping, and come back, and this wild-ass, lethal problem over nothing would typically still not be resolved.

What would you do if you had expensive tastes, an absolutely enormous self-image, and no marketable skills?
