Want to Win A Gun?

  • An Illinois Little League insists there is no political agenda behind its fundraiser raffling off an AR-15 rifle.

Owners of Atwood Armory and the Atwood-Hammond Little League Atwood, Ill., came under media scrutiny in the past week following the start of their AR-15 raffle to raise funds for the financially struggling Little League.

Some media outlets have reported that the rifle is similar to the one used in Newtown, Conn., in December when 20 children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The Little League’s commissioner, Steven McClain, 33, denied that it was the same type of gun and said he did not factor in the Newtown massacre into his decision to raffle the gun.

“I have kids. Every board member of the league has kids,” he told ABCNews.com. “I’m deeply saddened about what happened. But we don’t believe it’s the gun’s fault.”
So far, the Little League has raised $10,000 - their last fundraiser netted them ten bucks for a hog. So this is definitely a step in the right direction. If you'd like to buy a ticket, they're on sale until 28 June. The drawing is 29 June. And since most of our readers already have an FOID and have passed background checks, you're already qualified to win.  Here's the info (it's from their open source Facebook page):
  • RAFFLE #2 INFO: This is for the Atwood-Hammond Little League Raffle. We are raffling off a ROCK RIVER ARMS TACTICAL OPERATOR 2. Last day to purchase tickets is June 28 as the drawing is June 29. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at ATWOOD ARMORY or by sending a check or money order made out to ATWOOD ARMORY, 65 E CR 1175 N, Atwood, IL 61913. You can purchase if you live out of state, however, we will not ship this firearm to a restricted area. It is your responsibility to know the laws for the state or area in which you live. Thank you so much for your support!!
As Rahm would say, "It's for the children," so you know it can't be bad.

UPDATE: They are also raffling off a second AR-15 to raise money for the Camden Foundation to fight childhood cancer. That drawing is 30 March. The specifics:
  • RAFFLE INFO:: Raffle #1 is for the Camden Foundation, a local non-profit organization that helps the families of children who are dealing with childhood cancer. The last day for ticket sales is March 29 as the drawing is March 30. We are raffling off a ROCK RIVER ARMS ENTRY OPERATOR AR15. Tickets are just $20 each and can be purchased in person at ATWOOD ARMORY or via mail by mailing a check made out to ATWOOD ARMORY, 65 E CR 1175 N, Atwood, IL 61913. Please designate that you would like it to go towards the Camden Foundation Raffle. Thank you for your support!
Specify the raffle you are entering if you send them a check. Both are worthy causes though.

So, msf and tru like units will not be back. This is a major win win for the city. They can slow hiring and avoid paying into the pension and medical for new hires, get revenue from VRI and have visibility and not have the lawsuits and "harassment" of stopping anything that walks by specialized units. And it is true. When I work VRI it's all Parker's, a mover and maybe an anov. I don't jump out on anyone and the white shirts are happy and so am I. Hey, we can cry about hiring all we want but as long as there is unlimited overtime at time and a half I'm fine...

A lot of small Indiana towns raffle guns as fundraisers. Last summer the VFW in the town we were visiting were raffling off three beautiful engraved silver and gold plated 30-30s. Needless to say, i put my couple bucks in. Couple members were telling me that nothing comes close to the money they raise with the guns.

There was no assault type or ar15 rifle used in the shooting at Sandy Hook. Remember people these are not the honest reporters of years past, just a bunch of clowns lead around by station chiefs who are mostly commies or socialists.

Absolutely. Affluent white people in luxury bedroom communities can qualify for the Idiot Parent Award too.

What kind of person, when faced with a bug-eyed, walks-with-a-half-step-in-more-ways-than-one, uncommunicative, semi-functional offspring, leaves them in the care of "KILL THEM ALL" on the computer game for hundreds of hours while they themselves go out warming a bar stool and being the toast of the town -- and then takes Problem to the range and trains him on a variety of modern firearms and gives him the keys to the gun safe?

What kind of outcome was this woman expecting -- I know, I know. If she thought about anything at all, huh?

"Owners of Atwood Armory and the Atwood-Hammond Little League Atwood, Ill., came under media scrutiny in the past week following the start of their AR-15 raffle to raise funds for the financially struggling Little League."

So go ahead and "scrootin," as our former mayor would have it.

Heard a radio story this morning -- reporters are becoming unsure of the security of their jobs.

Nobody buying all this, huh?

It must be said -- there are a lot more normal people in this country, and they can choose to simply ignore the endless trumpeting of a tiny pressure group and hold their own school classes, campouts and baseball games, on the basis of no organization, private property, private party and you're not invited.

Sure, force the Boy Scouts to become LGBTABCD with mayonnaise. You will end up with not much Scouts. Force homeschoolers to "teach a standard curriculum" without the preface of "this is a bunch of bullshit that the bad people in the government want to force us to teach you. It is all a bunch of lies."

Beat freedom down in one place and it will simply pop up somewhere else -- with the oppressed increasingly going their own way and hating you more and more.

The truth will out.

"Budget?"

In the here and now, it costs NOTHING to tell your kid, "Don't you ever do that again!" and explain why.

But of course a third-generation banger is going to bring up the fourth gen. into the sacred ways.

But of course that's someone else's fault and we don't want to "criticize."

Anyway -- nobody in a blue shirt can undo in a minute what has been done (or not done) year after year in the home.

I've got a timely philosophical question for you City of Chicago Cops.

Most of you know better than me that things are getting increasingly more and more out of control. The citizenry knows this too just by looking at the ammo shortages and gun sales. More concerning to me than any SHITBAGS streaming out of the inner cities to come looking for me and my stuff, is the possibility that (for the first time in my 62 years and I can't believe I'm actually writing it) but I am now more fearful of my own government than I am any street thugs.

Here's my question ... what percentage of cops ... and by that I mean city, county, state, federal ... would stand with the citizens in direct violation of orders to shoot, jail, round up, detain, average constitutionally law abiding American citizens? Could such an order ever be carried out?

The military people I am talking to say 'no way, they swore an oath to the constitution'. That's the reason Hitler had his troops swear loyalty to him and not the German constitution.

The creeps I am ready for without a moment's hesitation. But I don't think I could ever bring myself to firing on the same cops who have devoted and risked their lives to keeping me and my family safe.

While everyone agrees that an AR15 was At Sandy Hook...a .223 rifle is not an Assault Weapon.

You want an assault weapon?

Try an UZI or an Steyr AUG in 5.56x45mm or 9mm. You need an FFL due to the receiver. I don't need an FFL for an AR15.

Many suburban departments hire part-time officers? At a better rate of pay? WTF have you been smoking?

Part-timers get paid BELOW a fulltime rookies hourly salary. And Overtime? Unheard of for a part-timer. Plus you are limited to average 20 hours a week. Per the Illinios Law Enforcement Standard Training Board.Oh and you get no benefits either my friend, like vacation, holidays, health insurance, etc.
Very few departments use part-timers, cause the unions rightfully scream. Most part-timers are used to supplement special details, like in Rosemont at Allstate arena.

An internal investigation of the FOP counsel, paid for by the membership, ought to be general knowledge, right? The lawsuit posted cited an investigation undertaken by by Asher, Gittler and D'Alba. Shouldn't the membership have access to that report that Shields & Co is trying so hard to conceal from the plaintiff? After all, we pay everyone's salary and any attached investigations. We don't want our labor organization held liable, do we? If our union officials are assisting in the coverup, we're going to get tagged hard if the plaintiff wins. If it can be proved that Geiger was acting outside his role of lawyer and instead acting as a predator, it would behoove us to fire him as soon as possible.

No they aren't asking. The media believes 'the police' are in lockstep with 'the government', in wanting to disarm the populace.
The problem is, when a police McSuperintendent tells the media he is all for it, they PRESUME he speaks for the policemen of his department. They don't get that he speaks only for the man who hired him and who will fire him if he says the wrong thing.

Really? Because at corp council they were doing everything in their power to teach people in MSF how to write proper case reports and THAT is 100 percent true. Maybe you or your team did not get lawsuits which was great for you... but the lawsuits coming in for MSF were coming in the most of any unit or district in the entire city. If you want facts I have no problem giving you them. Feel Free to pull the numbers with a FOIA request. I was able to learn of all of them when I hit light duty due to an accident when I was detailed to the law dept for a year and a half. Believe me, MSF in particular was a big problem when it came to lawsuits. Much more so than TRU.
