Ban Trains!

We don't know why this obvious step hasn't been taken before, what with all the apple-picking going on:
  • A 37-year-old man was beaten to death on a platform of the Green Line late Saturday morning in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side, according to authorities.

The victim, whose identity was not being released Saturday night because his family was not notified yet, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:13 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the attack, but one "large" man walked up about 11:30 a.m. and started beating the victim, who was standing on the platform in the 300 block of East 43rd Street, according to police.
And if you thought the CTA was bad, even the police aren't safe in Metra stations:
  • One person is under arrest, accused of stabbing a Metra police sergeant who was breaking up a fight at Union Station Saturday night, Chicago police said.

A fight erupted near the food court inside Union Station and the male sergeant was stabbed three times in the leg while trying to break up the altercation, police said.

Metra spokesman Tom Miller said the fight happened outside a McDonald's restaurant in the upper level of the station.
Best wishes to the Metra officer for a speedy recovery.

They should ban McD's. It sounds like fights are breaking out all over and the underlying factor is McDonalds. Must be the new mighty wings. They are delicious though. I'm calling Hamburger U in Oakbrook to relay my displeasure. Can't even enjoy a Big Mac in peace anymore.
Real damndiculous.

Wasn't he aware of his surroundings? He's suppose to be aware of his surroundings and be vigilant.

DHS says to pull out scissors to fend off an attacker.

Colo. law makers say he should of stabbed the attacker with a ball point pen!

I'm confused. Because then scissors and ball point pens are weapons. We not supposed to carry weapons on the streets are we?

Oh well. Too bad a house wife or single girl wasn't alerted to the commotion. She could of followed Joe Biden's advice to start shooting her shot gun in the air to scar him away.

Thank goodness Madigan's drones in the legislature are fighting hard to keep CCW illegal in public transportation. I'm sure the victim's family will take comfort in the (hopefully functioning) video cameras that are protecting us. Perhaps Representative Mell sees this and rethinks her advice for people to yell for help if someone attacks them on the train.

(Note to drones: this is sarcasm)

Disarm the Armed Wing of the Catered To Constituency first...

Illinois liquor store employee shoots armed robber during attempted hold-up

{...]..
The two robbers were seen sneaking around outside the store before they entered, and that’s when the employee armed himself with a revolver. The two entered the store shooting. When one of them, identified as 20-year-old James Taylor, jumped over the counter, still shooting, that’s when the employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, shot him.

He tells WIFR News 23:

“I didn't think they were going to jump over the counter. One of them did, and started shooting at me. So it was just like, shoot or get shot, you know?”

Oh hell yeaz

Off topic:
It's been an interesting turn of events here at the UCPD since the big student protest concerning the new U of C hospital a couple of weeks ago. Our brilliant chief, Marlon Lynch, laid a plan to place an undercover detective in with the student protesters. Since she's a relatively new hire in our dept. (and quickly moved up the rank to detective), she didn't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, and the students discovered her very early in the protest. The U of C Maroon student newspaper is filled with pictures of her texting our Asst. to the Chief, Milt Owens, informing him about how the protest was going. Several students took pictures of our newly appointed detective as she was doing this, and those pics are all over the Maroon newspaper too. What's really interesting is that our Chief initially denied that this undercover operation ever came out of his office. Lynch has now had to backtrack off of that, since someone leaked the official plan of the use of the detective in the student protest to...you guessed it, the U of C Maroon! Lynch has actually made several statements concerning the incident now, with 3 different versions of how and why this operation took place. He's also placed the newly promoted detective and Milt Owens on 'administrative leave' as the matter gets sorted out; it seems U of C president Zimmer has pulled his head out from under the panties of the college professor he left his wife for and is quite upset about how this all came about, and has ordered an immediate outside investigation into the matter. When you're placed on administrative leave here at the UCPD, it's usually the kiss of death, with termination after the two weeks. It's a shame that the detective would be fired simply for following orders from two incompetent fools at the top, but she won't be the first if she's fired, and she certainly won't be the last. The madness here continues here at Peyton Place by the Lake!

You can forget about "decoy teams" and other such "task force" types of Policing...

Rahm, the alderfools and the rev'runs can't have the Police killing the shit out of members of the armed wing of the catered to constituency by the dozens per month on public transportation...

Heh...

Good Policing with the maximum of prejudice allowed by law = Bad political fall-out.

One of our elder subject matter experts mentioned an incident (late 1950's early 1960's) in which an armed robber was chopped to pieces on a CTA train by detectives of which a couple were armed with Thompson SMG's...

The public recoiled in horror...
Daley I had a shit-fit...

"How can The Police be allowed to be so ruthless, hard and callous?"

(A truth... The Police should inspire more fear and outright terror than these fools currently rendering vast swaths of this city unliveable. Nowadays, people are so broke out with contagious crazy, they feel no guilt in ringing the district phones about an officer who was "unfriendly and didn't smile" regardless of how professional their Police demeanor actually was.)

The beginnning of the end of Policing out loud?

The "Choppers" were commanded put away... Until April 4th 1968...

"You guys are just mad cuz it isn't 1960 anymore..."

Earlier posts mentioned the sheriffs from Colorado, those sheriffs are willing to stand up to oppressors and protect the law abiding citizens from unjust laws within their jurisdictions. What are the officers in Chicago and Cook County doing? Letting the innocent people get caught between the filthy gang bangers, murderers, rapists, muggers and the pieces of shit politicians. You want to know why we don't have sheriffs like those you read about? It's because no law official has the balls to stand up to the Daleys, the Madigans, the Preckwinkles, the Burkes and their ilk. Start looking at the 5th floor at City Hall.

If you voted for the current regime, then look in the mirror.

Guess I am fucked, then! But hard to walk away from $130,000 a year for a $60,000 pension, and then cannot contribute the max to deferred. At 55 I am in a good unit make extra, enjoy the coppers I work with, guess I am fucked! Well, you are in the minority of the clout-heavy. The rest of us must not be as smart or hard-working as you.

GFYS, asshole.

Talked to Mike Shields and he said this is in no way going away as the city saves to much money, lets hope he is telling the absolute truth. 1 question I did not ask,if I will be. 55 next year and we are still under old contract as we are, if myself or others put in for it now will the city be forced to honor it?

The agreement is on the FOP 7 website. Your answers are there.

"Securitas will no longer patrol the CTA system starting 01 April due to not being paid by the city."

Now there's a huge loss.

"Patrol?" You have to be able to physically heave your bulk out of your vehicle before you can start to "patrol" anything.

Maybe they went on one of those cultural excursions, instead, or joined in on building a home with Habitat for Humanity.
But, I'm betting on a Carnival cruise.

I ewtired last fall at age 60. I have not a regret in the world. I am glad I worked on the CPD for all those years and I am happy I left. It was a complte journey. A great experience, I could have worked longer but you all know how it is there now, I just wasn't excited about going to work. Now I am getting a pension and miss some people but do not miss the job at all.

There is some adjusting to do but I do not look for reasons to go visit the station. Not at all. My only regret is not putting more in deferred comp. That is it. Hey, union meeting tomorrow, I will be there and say hello to some of the people.

Thank you for posting all this brave crap. But fuck you all for not standing up in public where it counts.

3/17/2013 10:52:00 PM

Why don't YOU stand up in public?

People who voted for the politicians that are in office now have caused this societal disaster and you expect the Police to be your sacrificial lambs?

You want someone to blame? Look in the mirror.
