Rahm Re-Announces Spending

After mucking out a few basements of northside acquaintances, we were amused to see Rahm promising to spend more money:
  • Days after heavy rains swamped hundreds of homes in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood leaving many without power and gas, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the construction of a $55 million underground pipeline he says will alleviate future flooding.

The one-mile tunnel underneath Foster Avenue will go east from Eugene Field Park to the North Shore Channel. Construction of the Northwest Side pipeline may begin as early as the beginning of next year.

Gee, $55 million. That's about what he's spending on Maggie Daley Park, isn't it? Or is it the same $55 million being spent again? His accounting leaves a lot to be desired. After all, the Streets and San savings from going to a "grid" system are about one-third of what was projected, meaning Rahm has to find that money somewhere else.

And more interesting, Rahm already announced this project about year ago - it's been on the drawing board at least that long. No progress has been made though, just an announcement that gave Rahm headlines, and now ::poof:: a crisis that can't go to waste, so he announces it again:
  • Money for the project will come from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, the city, and from the state and federal government, Emanuel said. The new pipeline has been in the planning stages for about a year.
Rahm is also a scientist it seems, blaming "climate change" again:
  • Emanuel said the pipeline was being built to address climate change, which he called, “the new normal.”

Everything in dark and light red is the so called "global warming" predicted by scientists and a Chicago mayor. The black line, which is just about to fall out of the model completely, is recorded temperatures - reality as it were. It shows about a one-tenth degree rise in 20 years. But hey, if Rahm can garner a headline from a project he announced a year ago already and make it seem like he cares about people who have been pumping water and sewage out of their basements the past week, well by golly, he's not going to let that opportunity slip by.

"Man-made global warming" is one of the biggest hoaxes perpetrated in the later 20th / early 21st century

Like Cultural Marxism, this enviornmental counterpart is designed to do NOTHING MORE than seperate productive people from their hard-earned money and give it to lazy, shiftless, unproductive, layabouts in the name of "social (enviornmental) justice"

ANY TIME you hear these words (social justice, enviro-justice, carbon credit, global warming, etc) KNOW that you are dealing with a hoaxter, a fraud and a Marxist

Which is it?

"Chicago has a skill gap"

OR

"We have a tremendously skilled workforce..."?

Remember this:

December 19, 2011

By RAHM EMANUEL

The Chicago area has near 10% unemployment, but more than 100,000 unfilled jobs. Like the rest of the country, Chicago suffers from a skills gap that undermines our economic competitiveness and threatens our future prosperity.

Despite stubborn unemployment, we have companies offering well-paying jobs that have to go begging for skilled applicants. This is because our community college system, which was a worker's ticket into employment and the middle class during the postwar boom, has failed to keep pace with today's competitive jobs market. Consequently, in a 21st-century economy, our workers still have 20th-century skills.

For example, AAR Corp., an aviation-parts manufacturer in the Chicago area, has 600 job openings for welders and mechanics but can't find skilled workers to fill them. As mayor of one of America's largest cities, I find it unacceptable that at a time of high unemployment, more than 80% of manufacturers say they can't find skilled workers to hire...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203893404577100772663276902.html

(I CALL BULLSHIT!)

Well hallelujah just 16 months later all our skill problems must of been solved..right? Cause this...

Gov. Perry from Texas rides into town suggesting to Illinois businesses it's time to hit the emergency exits and ...

April 22, 2013

From Treasurer Dan Rutherford

“Here in Illinois, we have all the factors needed to create a great business climate. We have a tremendously skilled workforce, an excellent transportation system, a wide variety of natural, cultural and recreational resources, great agricultural success and strong educational institutions to name a few assets....

http://capitolfax.com/2013/04/22/a-texas-primer/

I am sooo confused.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford says "we have a tremendously skilled workforce" that business should want and Rahm says business can't find skilled workers?!!

Funny thing.

If 16 months of community college solved this skills problem why has Chicago lost over 81,000 jobs in the last five months?

Great transportation system? Filled with Apple picking thugs, trains with track and underground fires, delays from bodies commiting suicide on the tracks.? Bus stops with crackheads shooting up.

Strong educational facilities? Did he not get the memo on the 54 school closings in Chicago?

Great recreational attractions? Like the sewage filled beaches from the recent flooding.

Oh and lets not forget the rich culture. The homicide capitol of the nation is here. That's pretty rich eh?

Is it any wonder that we have to pay bribes to Sears, Motorola, CME. about a quarter million dollars in tax breaks to locate here? All that bribe money and we are still losing jobs.

But we have that $55 million dollar park that closes at 11 pm to be cleaned with a crew that has NEVER been seen at that time. EVER.

Don't you know that libtards don't call it global warming any more? It seems that after scientists trying to use them to scam money falsified the global warming statistics, they needed to change the name in order to distance themselves from the scandal.

They now call it climate change. This is yet another libtard, brain dead term. The climate is always changing and has been over the course of history. Perhaps they forgot about the Ice Age? Anything to stand behind a stupid cause.

Good Luck on connecting the chicago river to the north shore channel. The EPA, and I bet the north suburbs will tie this up in court for years. Its another way to pay off de mayor's lawyer friends. Also, why isnt the city mandated like the suburbs to put retention ponds in for every "x" ammount of new construction? The deep tunnel was a waste of taxpayer money. It doesnt work. Try retention ponds. Try making more flood plains in the city to absorb the overflow.
Illinois forbids reconstruction of houses along the mississippi and illinois river flood plain to allow for future flooding control. Maybe chicago should be forced to do so....

Politicians would rather pocket the money instead rebuilding infrastructure. I see this happening.

I was surprised at Mayor Emanuel's proposal because Albany Park is not a tourist area, it is a cesspool of crime...as with the intentional neglect of Englewood, why bother doing anything to Albany Park if only for votes?

Emanuel's $55,000,000 estimate is very, very low. Remember Chicago's Deep Tunnel Project? Hahahahahahahahaha.

Shitassery at it's best...

Rahm has no intention of doing a damn thing for or reinvesting one plug nickel of tax revenue in the middle class tax payer areas of the city.

You middle class people think too many funny ideas and have too many strange traditions like working for a living and having to be accountable for your actions.

You will get nothing and be glad of it...

Rahm has his lips firmly affixed to the asses of the Catered To Constituency and his Gold Coast/North Shore allies in the cocktail party & fund raiser circuit...

You middle class people exist for his pleasure only... Someone simply MUST pay the punitive fees, fines, snatch-backs and gotchas that have been put in place to extract money that you're trying to keep for yourselves and your families.

Funny...

So many of you are now denying that you voted for this little twisted and hateful, narrow and pointy, rat turd of a less than human?

"But he WORKED FOR OBAMA?"

All the signs were there that he was invited to LEAVE the White House because he had a bad habit of showing his ass and clowning key people HIGHER in the Chicago pecking order than HE IS.

Did he feel so "indispensable" that he could get away with profanely disrespecting FLOTUS and Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett?

Soooo...

In the name of appearing to be singing from the same sheet of political music?

"Lucifer" was cast from "Heaven" to Earth... Landing in Chicago and remade it into Hell in order to set himself up as king.

The impact crater from his celestial launch hadn't even had a chance to cool when he decided he would cast Police and Fire as the enemy and main actors standing in the way of the fiscal health of this city...

Nothing said of the multiple Billions stolen by the previous administration?

>Pffft!< A mere trifle when a new agenda and political talking point is being slid in place.

"Well, you're gonna have to learn how to bleed."

"We're gonna stick it in the Cops ear..."

We'll wager that Rahm doesn't even really know what he wants other than to beat on the first responders of this city because all of them didn't vote for him?

Whatever...

The street drama, urban theater and puppet show of media and political fuckery continues with all these strategies, pronouncements and fanfare spewing from 3510 South Michigan and 121 North LaSalle.

Waiting for Rahm's Re- Re-Announcement...

Funny... The city is "broke" and has no money, but Rahm has "announced" somewhere north of $1 Billion in spending initiatives since falling from the sky...

Get busy you so called investigative reporters!

The Police are the enemy...

Viva Hate.

Bravo and well done!

Rahm is in denial... Funny thing is even Ray Charles, though he be both DEAD and BLIND, can see that Illinois and Chicago have been totally destroyed by the political, business and media corruptocrat class.

These same corruptocrats are naked and sweaty in their bald faced attempts to totally disinvest state and muni employees of their pensions because pension monies are THE VERY LAST "POTS" OF UN-FUCKED WITH MONEY "laying around just doing nothing."

Shortshanks did Miriam Santos a dirty fucking deed because she thwarted him getting his greasy greedy paws on muni employee pension money.

These people are truly evil...

Not quite...it was Nordic misdirection..Iceland was habitable, Greenland was not...they hoped their competitors would flock to "green-land" and avoid "ice-land"..however, you're right about climate cycles..they've been happening since the beginning..they can be as short as a few centuries or tens of thousands of years.

Rename it whatever you want, but don't rewrite the truth to suit your whim.
The park was NOT 'perfectly good'. The rebuilding of the garage roof, which is the park floor, already scheduled. Parts of the garage have been closed for a long while. Water damage was huge. It was going to be done no matter what they named it. It was FAILING, as the result of shoddy work in 2000-2001.

If you want to bitch about something, bitch about Daley's demand that it be finished back then on a rush-rush basis, no matter what the cost or quality. We are now paying AGAIN to get what we should have gotten thirteen years ago.
This is not Rahm's boondoggle; it's Daley's. RAHM's big mistake in this was expecting Chicago would be more accepting of the money being spent if he pretended it was in honor of Maggie. He's a D.C. guy, not a Chicago guy, and he really must've thought Maggie was so beloved here, we'd all be okay with the excuse the $55million was being spent to honor her. He miscalculated.

Enjoy the benefit of our deep tunnel project! We only dumped 525 million gallons of sewage into the lake for you.

(Milwaukee, WI) – The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is reporting the following information to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regarding sewer overflows that resulted from heavy rain April 17 and 18, 2013.

Two to three inches of rain fell on most of the MMSD service area, further saturating the ground after heavy rain the previous week. April 8 through 18, more than five inches of rain soaked the service area, producing more than 35 billion gallons of water (see attached maps). Every inch of rain on the District equals 7.1 billion gallons of water.

To reduce the risk of basement backups and reserve room in the Deep Tunnel for separate sewer flows, combined sewer overflows were initiated around 4:30 a.m. on April 18 and ended April 19. The total combined sewer overflow is estimated at 524.9 million gallons.

MMSD took emergency steps to increase treatment capacity and reduce the volume of combined sewer overflows by conducting combined sewage treatment at the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility starting around 3:00 p.m. on April 17 and ending on April 19. The treatment procedure is estimated to have reduced combined sewer overflows by 130 million gallons. Combined sewage treatment involves pumping water directly out of the Deep Tunnel into disinfection chambers at Jones Island.
