12 Years
- A former veteran Chicago police officer was sentenced today to 12 years in federal prison for conspiring with leaders of the Latin Kings to rob the gang's rivals of cash, drugs and guns.
Antonio Martinez Jr., 42, could have faced up to life in prison, but a federal judge in Hammond cut him a break for his extraordinary cooperation, including wearing a wire on his own partner.
You don't just wake up in the morning and decide to help a specific gang. Is this another one who slipped through the cracks?

So much for background checks. This guys whole family is tied into the Latin Kings. He's still got family that on the job also.
Its amazing how this one and the last one got 12 and 18 years in club fed. But Joe Miedz, who the ausa's dubbed the most corrupt cop ever, got life in prison. Yet Joe didn't do nor get charged with anywhere near as much crime as these two did.
Not defending Joe by any means, but it just goes to show you how it was obvious back then that the ausa's had a personal vendetta against Joe. They did not like his lack of cooperation and his "I'll take my hits" attitude. Which I gotta say I respect - no tears. Do the crime do the time.
Sorry, to throw one more out there - the ausa's did the same thing to Blago. Sandbagging with charges and sentencing.
Ausa's take it so personally when the government working criminal has an attitude.

O.T. 025 Gang Arrests
Someone has to ask why is it that in 025 certain officers ONLY arrest certain gang members. Yet they leave other certain gang members alone. It's all in their arrest history.
Also, how do you like this one- a p.o. one day told me "just because you are in a gang doesn't make you a bad person".
If you don't think gangs have infiltrated our department then you are kidding yourself.

Both were scumbag infiltrators, put there by the LKN, there are more of them still on the job. Some from the same family, some not. there are no less then six more latin kings / queens on the job that came from the south east side. One is a new sergeant in 006

Wow, bad month for us on CPD. Deavlin Page, Glen Lewellen and now this guy. I will be so glad not be affiliated with this organization in two years.
Nothing new here guys. We all have come across that one cop who acts like a thug and dresses like one. It's a fucking shame. Sadly this won't be the last time this happens.
They got what was coming to them....move on!
Maybe he can wear a wire while in the prison shower? Now that would be funny!

Yet his family is still working on the job without incident... Neither have been stripped or charged with any wrong doing, but you want to call that out? Grow a set and confront them if you have a problem with their brother, but you won't. Everyone knows his family was on the job at the time of his dumb mistake, this is not news...
I worked with both his siblings years ago, keep your heads up you guys and don't let his dumb mistake haunt you. He made his bed and now he will lay in it. Coppers are going to judge you guys no matter what, but that's all it will be is behind your back talk because no one will have the gall to say any of it to your faces. I'm not defending Tony's actions at all with this post, it just disgusts me how much coppers are spiteful.
How can this happen in a semi military organization?

Don't delude yourself. The day your raised your right hand, you became affiliated with this organization forever.
You will ALWAYS be 'former Chicago police officer', no matter what.
I have worked in 008 for awhile. In traffic court recently I couldn't believe my fucking eyes. A known Latin King is a copper in 6!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!! It's a shame.
I hope the media and the general public see that just because these idiots are police officers does not mean we automatically are on their side. As a general rule, if you make an "honest" mistake on this job, we will back you. However, if you cross the blue line we stand to protect, then you are perceived as the scum we arrest daily. For example, I was in roll call when the SOS scandal broke on the news. Almost every copper in the room shouted idiot, moron, a***ole, etc. Not one police officer said or felt that we should stand behind or by them because they wore the patch. "Finnegan was like a father to me." Give me a break...a**hat!

To Martinez family, I've known you for years. Tony fucked up and has to suffer the consequences. Don't let that deter you from being the police. You guys have been the police. Unfortunately we work with quite a few spineless pussies who don't have and never will have the balls to tell you to your faces what they think of you. And most likely you'll always be the subject of their conversations when they see you (behind your backs of course). But keep your heads up, you still have friends out here. And I would gladly back you guys up anyday.

Really you f$&@ing tool. This guy is a criminal and a load of shit and a disgrace to the police department. This has nothing to do with spite it's about a jag off being a jag off. If his family or familia members are shit also then screw them if they're not then great.
Talking about gall, why didn't you post your name brave soul so you can defend your brother whose going to jail.
The whole family as well as extended family are associated with Latin Kings. Whether the unaccused are decent coppers or not they are still associated with them.
It's ok to hire gang bangers, but not Policeman's kids or military veterans.
