"Police responded Sunday to an apartment complex on the 2900 block of South Harlem Avenue in the west suburb for a call of an activated fire alarm, according to a news release from the Riverside Police Department.
"A tenant, who alerted his neighbors, found a small fire in a planter inside the building. He led the police to the second floor where there was another fire smoldering inside an apartment, the release said. The fire department was called to put the fire out.
"An investigation revealed that the former tenant of the unit had moved out two weeks prior and a married couple had moved in because the rent was paid to the end of April. The couple had been using the apartment to party and use heroin, according to the release.
"Police learned that the couple went to the North Riverside Mall on Sunday and had stolen liquor. They returned to the apartment where they drank all day and later drove to Chicago to buy crack. They then returned to the apartment where they continued to drink and smoke, the release said."

crimeinchicago says we are 26 and they invite Mc535 to count along with them they lay each homicide with the date and time and location since the start of the new year to 4-26-13 shows 106 homicides
they state that Tiny likes to count multiple gunshot homicides at the one as one shooting so if 1 or 10 are killed at the smae spot he counts it a"1"

Hey goof the academy has been doing this shit for years, they are suppose to.... Every academy in the state does it!!!! The suit can be dry cleaned .
The academy made exercise optional one year that I can recall think it was around 96-97. Stupid idea.

Are you fucking kidding me? This needs to be done more often. The academy is so afraid of offending some one or getting sued that that they are as soft as puppy shit.
I had more physical fitness running and exercising during grammar school football then when I went through the academy. Trying going through the state academy, there is some real training.

They did the same shit a decade ago and back then they had the most nasty, dirty, dust filled carpeting throughout the building. Yeah it sucked, but you did it because it was a right of passage. Just like crawling through the mud for "Welcome to the gym" day. If they don't like it, the Academy door isn't locked. There are plenty of people who would take their place. Nothing new. I came on in 2007 and thats exactly what happened to us. Front lean and rest the 1st day and I imagine it happened to every class since that followed me

It is called discipline you asshat. if you were bothered or even curious, ask the instructor why? He would have provided a reasonable answer. Second, the academy has 500 recruits yest you claim they cannot fill the academy? Academy is at full capacity. Any more and they will need two watches to complete the training. Well I came on in the 80's and weeding out "Sally" didn't start until after all of your admin crap was done in the first week. Then they weeded out the Sally's........Thats what I'm talkin about Mr. Salty

Dont think it was a PT class, they usually start the 2nd week. Think this was more for discipline or to set the tone
If they cant handle think, they should resign because all the CPD will get out of it is a recruit or po that will bitch and complain about everything for the rest of their time on the job.
These days the biggest kiss a## gets to be class commander in the academy! They don't have to EARN it anymore. Basically a teacher's pet who will then get to pick their district of assignment after graduation. I guess it's good training for merit promotion process. What a joke.
Will they please stop doing monthly numbers BEFORE the month is over?

I was the class commander in Class 66-24. So what? My old man was a CPD captain who was really pissed that I went OTJ after college. I was "randomly" assigned to bloody Fillmo'...and I LOVED IT!. (Sorry, Dad. Nice try.)
The only way they got me to leave was when I was reassigned via legit exam to detective after 3 years of pumping adrenaline. Good times with great coppers; great camaraderie; great back-up and response times. Great bosses led by the legendary George Sims. We were all BLUE, regardless of race. Danger was no stranger in 011. Non-stop ACTION! Riots, homicides, 10-1s, well-deserved wood shampoos, ad infinitum. We owned the night.
OT: Chicago gas prices: As the rest of the country experienced an 11¢ drop in gas prices, ours went UP 15¢/gallon! Once again, we have the highest prices in the country!
Taxes weren't blamed, but what was blamed is the higher-cost of "summer blend", trouble with local refineries and an "increased demand".
Chicagoans are experiencing an increased demand alright, probably because they want to get the Hell out of here!

I saw the order for assignments.The 3rd district got a whopping 1 FTO outta the whole bunch LMAO.Does that mean they are only allowed one recruit every three months?The department caved to save further embarrassment and I'm glad for the new FTO's the fact is they need you more than you need them.

Wasn't no weeding out in my class, long ago. The stupid ones and thieves and drunks all had clout and stayed on. One dumb MF could not pass the law test until the last day and then he took it in "private" in the office, given by the sgt in charge of the law unit. That dog's father was commander of public housing south. you don't think... Naw, it was legit, sure it was. Welcome to the police department, phony as a three dollar bill.
