Messy Weekend - Again

  • A man was shot multiple times in the Sheridan Park neighborhood last night and left in critical condition, one of at least 13 people shot across the city Friday and early Saturday morning, officials said.
And stumbling into the middle of it all, a CFD ambulance crew:
  • An ambulance happened upon a West Side shootout early Saturday morning that left two men in critical condition.

The ambulance was eastbound about 12:15 a.m. in the 3500 block of West Lake Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood -- not responding to a call -- when the paramedics saw men ducking behind cars and firing guns, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said from outside John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County overnight.

Paramedics called a "10-1" over the radio, a term used to signal that a police officer, paramedic or firefighter is in distress and in immediate need of help.
No paramedics hurt, which is the one of the few stats we care about.

Exactly what happened in a scene from that Chicago Fire show a few weeks back. Except the CFD personnel looked like two Miss America winners...

Chicago's GDP received yet another boost to it's economy this weekend as the shootings rise into the double digits.

In economics there is something known as the velocity of money which is a measure of how fast money changes hands. Why is the velocity of money important? Because every time money changes hands there's a tax to be paid.

If everyone just saves their money -- ha how ya going to get tax revenue?

So just look at that velocity of money that is boosting Chicago's GDP!!

The EMS techs, ER room staff, hospital and drug company money changing hands. CPD overtime, crime scene evidence techs and detectives. The lawyers, judges and admin staff. The D-A and their staff.

It's all being put on the taxpayers charge cards so to speak but don't look at the bad look at the good. GDP is growing!

It's like look at all the stuff you bought on your credit card and then throw the bill in the trash, ya know?

That's economic activity baby and the city politicians LOVE IT!!

It's a BILLION dollar business as big as any corporation in the entire state!

The political clouted ones and the corporate CEO's are unwilling or unable to create attractive alternative opportunities for these people doing the shootings -- they make excuses about skill sets and education -- but the bottom line is that they are not intelligent enough to leverage this workforce they have or create the workforce that they want.

Instead let's leverage the shootings themselves!! Monetize the shootings and killings! That's it!

Brilliant eh?

Let's find a Hollywood movie star to play the Hayida Pendelton kid. Glorify her like a little goddess because daddies rich! OH THE POOR CHILDREN!!

Let's take that kid that got run over on his bicycle downtown and use it to sell Groupon tickets claiming that the money will be use to build bike lanes.

WTF, I already pay taxes for that why should I pay more money to the city and the CEO's for this crap so they don't have to?

I'm sick of this emotional tear-jerking use of "the children" as tools bullshit they are trying to pull.

This entire system is broken. It's all about the money.

Do you see Rahm and the city council going after the money from drug sales that allows the purchase of the guns that he hates? NOPE! He goes after the people running a legal business instead. Let's not kid ourselves here. We all know what's going on.

Think things are getting better in Chicago or the state of Illinois or the USA?

Think again.

While the BLS and the media tout that 170,000 jobs were just created try looking over here at the Food Stamp caseload data instead.

The latest report shows A NEW RECORD OF 47,727,052 people on food stamps!

Illinois food stamp caseload growth lead the 50 states showing a 10.4% growth over last year.

Illinois food stamp caseloads increased from 2,023,635 to 2,048,658 from the prior month.

About a 1.2% increase month over month and a 10.4% compared to last year.

What's that... 25,000 more people on food stamps in Illinois?

http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/29SNAPcurrPP.htm

Remember that the next time you hear some politician talking about job growth here touting 100 jobs or 1,000 jobs being created.

At the rate we're going it's very likely that within the next 12 months Illinois will have 2.8 million people on food stamps, the equiv. of the entire population of Chicago.

Funny isn't it? Just last month the Governor was bragging about the states coal exports being up five fold. People make assumptions that we must be doing pretty well based upon that, right? So why are the food stamp caseloads and the unemployment rates not dropping.

Oh look the stock market is doing well so companies must be doing well too. There's another false assumption.

The ponzi fraud money printing debt based economy has just about hit a dead end.

Answer: This is Illinois, you're forgetting the entire state is basically one big scam, full of scammers looking to steal anything they can get their hands on and lying means nothing to them if they can get something for free.

When you come up with the stats on how many fucking scumbag liars are lying their asses off and stealing the taxpayer dollars in free foodstamps, let us know. Till then, NO ONE knows the true unemployment numbers because the thieves are stealing the system blind.

*********

Not really, Wall Street companies are making record profits, because they're not spending a fucking dime and they're not employing anyone. The companies ARE doing well, because they're hoarding any and all cash they make. It looks great on balance sheets and shows a much higher profit margin when these vermin don't reinvest any of their profits.

So yes, they ARE doing well. That doesn't mean a fucking thing in terms of putting that money back in the hands of more workers.

Learn how the game works.

Why you ask - because the incompetent leaders in CPD don't understand asset forfeiture and could give a rat's ass about seizing assets. It's all about how many warrants you executed or how much dope you seized. Well guess what you're not paying for lease cars, or equipment, or gas for the helicopter or long term investigations, with kilos. You need real money to pay your bills and the only ones with real money are the dope dealers and money launderers. Mcstupid, Roti, OGrady don't get it and never will.

McDrunkinfool went to Paris for his daughter's wedding??? That's very interesting considering how numerous officers have been DENIED time for important events in their lives. In our district alone, we had one officer denied time for his wedding/ honeymoon, another was denied time to attend his own daughter's wedding, another was denied time to attend his grandmother's 90th birthday, and many others have even had personal days cancelled. All because of that jag off who now dares to enjoy time with his family while so many others are begrudged the same luxury. I have a hard time believing this. If you are getting married you have at least a year to set up a furlo, baby furlough, Pd's and as far as your daughters wedding, my guess is she is at least 20 years old so I'm sure the po has that or close to the 20 years on the job making him able to pick a furlo or again a baby furlough for the time she is getting married.

I said the exact same thing when I got a letter from the assessor's office stating that my property had been re-evaluated and the property appraisal had dropped. You would think that I should be paying less, right?? Guess again. They lowered the appraisal but INCREASED the tax rate, so whatever savings I would have had is gone. The county did this because they didn't want to lose revenue on all the properties that lost their value after the mortgage scandal. They can't make money off of devalued property, but they can raise the rate at which they tax it. Nothing but thieves here in IL!

This surprised you? You are very naive and dont know economics. What did you expect, property values go down, so you taxes go down Smart thinking. Did your salary go down, did the city, CPD pr CPS budget go down or did you get a raise, although a small one. So you think property taxes should go down, then who pays for the budgets that rise. With your logic then you salary should go down with falling property taxes Great thinking

You're right I'm not an economics major. If property is taxed according to it's appraisal, then your bill should reflect that. Raising the tax rate to get around that is just stealing from property owners. There is no incentive to buy property here when you can get more for your money and pay minimal taxes. No should be paying extra for the budget here; they need an audit. The city and county waste millions every year on pet projects of the mayor and his 50 aldermen- who each make 100k+. Every other major city can function with half that, so why can't we? They downsized the police department but not the city council. Maybe aldermen should start answering calls for service- they can carry a gun anyway. My point is we should not be paying more just because the connected politicians want to spend more.
