Weekend Totals

  • Four people were killed and dozens wounded in a spate of shootings during a muggy first weekend of summer.

Friday, the longest day of the year, was the deadliest, with three killed and at least 11 wounded in 10 separate shooting incidents throughout the city. Saturday saw at least six shootings, including one fatality. Ten people were wounded in at least eight shootings Sunday morning.

Those killed include a 31-year-old man who was recently freed after more than a year in jail and a 21-year-old man who had been in the country for only a few months.
But as heyjackass.com points out, the powers-that-be will hang their hats on this:
  • At this point, 7am Sunday, EMS has had a slower weekend than last.

Last weekend: 3 dead, 32 wounded
This weekend: 5 dead, 22 wounded

Last Sunday was the money shot and with 80s and sun today, it'll be a foot race to the finish.
Less ambulance runs must mean crime is down!

Funny how the only time we have seen the Supt on TV addressing anything was to say they were going to bring the skydivers from last week to justice.

I didn't see anything in the MSM about the multiple stabbing mob action on Belmont. Anyone see the guy walking around with a chunk taken out of his shoulder like nothing happened?

If they aren't reporting mob attacks at the Belmont L where civilians were stabbing in the face with bottles who the hell in the media isn't in the 9 fingered Napoleon's little pocket? Things are getting worse each year.

The BIG story over the weekend is that OakBrook had a shooting crime right in the Mall.

They have had problems (robberies in the Parking lot) there before but a lot has been hushed up.

You can't really hide a shooting in broad daylight so to the "it can never happen here crowd" this was a BIG eye-opener.

Let's get those concealed carry guns out and about. You need one to go shopping whether on North Michigan or OakBrook.

Next case.

It looks as if "dozens" turned out to be 30. As in 7 dead and 30 wounded. Last weekend was 11 dead & 42 wounded.

Success! Crime is down!!

Strange that there were no reported shootings on Sunday from 6:30a-9:30p given the weather. Maybe weather doesn't have anything to do with it.

Even Ray Charles, (R.I.P) dead and blind as he may be, can see that these two clowns are "all wet" in spite all their bullshit and ballyhoo about their so called strategies are finally "taking hold."

Are we working with google numbers that are so vast as to escape comprehension? Just tell us the exact number of people shot, killed whatever as of blank, blank time.
Like the other day on the radio the announcer says during a sweep, over a dozen guns were seized. Really? The number is not firmed up enough? Was it thirteen, fourteen. If you found half a gun..that's really not a gun.

OT But, I'm sitting in juvie court on a case today, and there's a kid up there for a serious offense against a legit victim. As he's standing up there in front of judge Marianne Jackson, it was brought to the judge's attention that the juvenile in question went to the victim/witness room and harassed the victim on his case while we were all sitting in court. The judge's response? "That's the least of my concern". So you know when you occasionally get legit victims that are afraid to prosecute, and we tell them it will be ok and they will be safe? I guess that doesn't apply in judge Marianne Jackson's courtroom.

Final weekend total is seven dead and 30 wounded?

Meanwhile in Rockford IL....

Mayor drops out of Bloomberg’s anti-gun coalition, says ‘focus should not be against law-abiding citizens’

An independent Illinois mayor is leaving New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun coalition because he said the group strayed from its original mission and became too focused on pushing for an assault-weapons ban.

“I’ve dropped out of a group called Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG),” Rockford, Illinois mayor Larry Morrissey said at a Rockford Tea Party town hall Saturday as the crowd burst into applause. “The reason why I joined the group in the first place is because I took the name for what it said. Against ‘Illegal’ guns.”

“The challenge that we see day in and day out in the city of Rockford is not dealing primarily with assault weapons or machine guns, automatic weapons. It’s dealing with a typical handgun. All of those typical weapons are usually in the hands of people who are prohibited from having them,” Morrissey said.

“As the original mission swayed, that’s when I decided that it was no longer in line with my beliefs. …So that’s why I dropped out,” Morrissey explained. “The focus should not be against law-abiding citizens. We should be focusing our enforcement on folks who have no right to carry a gun, concealed or otherwise.”

Morrissey also said that he supports concealed carry and plans to apply for a permit when the opportunity becomes available to him in Illinois.

“Personally as well, I’ve had three threats that I’ve had to deal with since I got elected,” he said. “None of which turned out to be any major event, but, you know, once you get a death threat and you realize even with the support of the Rockford Police Department, I just know with myself, especially now with a very young family, I don’t want to put my family’s life at risk, I don’t want to put my own life at risk, in a way that I could otherwise prevent. If I can protect myself, I’m going to do it.” ...

Am confused by the points thing. On the last test they never received any points, period. After you passed the test and were given a lottery number, then the veterans preference came in. The veterans preference was that 20% of the class would be veterans and that went in lottery number order.
Only makes sense because it was a pass/fail test so points wouldn't be involved. You were only allowed to request the preference points AFTER you were notified about passing the written test and being on the eligibility test.
