Who Pissed in the Media's Cornflakes?

Honestly, they're acting like a real reporting entity for once in the past decade or so:
  • Former Metra CEO Alex Clifford contends his refusal to capitulate to House Speaker Michael Madigan’s patronage demands angered some agency board members and ultimately led to his downfall, according to a memorandum obtained by the Tribune.

The eight-page memo – which the agency repeatedly has refused to release – contains allegations far more damning than Metra officials have suggested in recent days and raises new questions about how the commuter rail service operates in clout-friendly Illinois.

The memorandum has been portrayed as the proverbial smoking gun amid multiple investigations into Clifford’s ouster and the $718,000 severance package that accompanied it. At least one Metra board member has described the deal as “hush money” to prevent the allegations detailed in the memo from becoming public.
The memorandum details Madigan's efforts to get political hiring and promotions for his campaign workers along with member of the Metra board who owe their jobs to Madigan and their coercive efforts to have the CEO fired for not bending to their will.

The allegations being made and supported by the paper trail would mean impeachment and possibly jail in almost every other state of the union.

Here in Illinois? A shrug,a yawn and business as usual. What's it going to take to have people wake up? A family member of the Machine has literally gotten away with murder already (or manslaughter), and you see that one fading into obscurity - out of sight, out of mind.

Maybe it's coming from the Daley camp. Bill Daley knows Quinn is all but done, his competition is, most likely, going to be Madigan's daughter, so they expose this? There's no love between the Madigans and the Daleys. Ehhh, just a thought. My own speculation. Don't bet the house on it.

A fish rots from the head down.

NEWSFLASH: We are not a nation of laws.

Case in point. Obama's own Obama care. He got it passed, The supreme court even approved it. Now the man that told us all that he didn't go to Washington to kneel before a bunch of Wall Street bankers ups and decides that the law that was to become effective in 2014 will be delayed on a whim and not enforced to maybe 2015.

But wait. It's a law. Congress passed it!

Whelp add it to the list of illegal immigration, Fast and Furious, Mortgage Banker and investment frauds. secrete courts violating constitutional rights, and on and on.

I have one question.

It the government suppose to control us or are we suppose to control the government?

Conceal carry hahaha. Yeah Illinois passed the law. SO WHAT. Now it will be one delay after another while being told that we're going to do -- it's just that these things take time and we're working on b.s. The oldest line in the book.

Conceal carry is now law. SO WHAT. So it illegal immigration, etc., etc.

The political apparatus picks and chooses which part of the laws they want to enforce regardless of what congress passes. Why should we expect the Illinois lawmakers to act any different -- no-one is held accountable. The royal families pass control from father to daughter to son election after election.

You're looking at a rigged system my friends. Will the Illinois AG bring justice against daddy?

It's all for show SCC...

We won't be convinced about any of this until all the right people are dangling from the scaffold and running on air or are found sitting in their v.i.p plated sedans and suvs in lonely forest preserve snacking on a .380 breath mint having cheated the upright citizens of their great joy and long denied justice in seeing the entire criminal kleptocratic class of Chicago and Illinois assembled for a group air-dance.

The whole of Illinois north of I-70 would be rendered desert to build a scaffold big enough for these thieving motherless-fucks.

Heh... This might be a play by the media in hope of not being considered for being forcibly quick-stepped up the same 13 stairs when the Great Correction finally occurs for so energetically looking the other way while the people suffered grievous financial harm and diminution of their rights.

A skull on a stick has more overall credibility than any so called practical application of a Journalistic Code of Ethics in this town. Or the gratuitous panty drawer riflers in this flaming shit-show who call themselves journalists...

This is all smoke and mirrors for the next govenors election. The Daley clan is just setting up Lisa's daddy for the fall and hope the dirt rubs off on her (There hoping for a federal indicitment on Mikiee because Lisa won't do a thing to Daddy). Bet Mr. Clifford gets a million dollar fund raiser thrown by the Daley family and the old bridgeport democratic party like Richie's old friend the patroniage chief Sorsch when this is over to help him cover his legal bills.

Don't be fooled, this is a clear sign that the Media is backing Bill Daley for Governor.
As for Lisa, she sees herself as the first female U.S. President! She will begin by taking Kirk's Seat in the Senate. Kirk is done, he can only count on so much sympathy related to his illness and most of that is spent. In every other instance he is a Democrat claiming to be otherwise. Lisa is a Real "Progressive" Democrat, who will actively take part in Hillary's doomed White House campaign take the Senate then like her Hero BO after serving for a few months go for the Prize. Watch.

i guess it's all in how you interpret "influence" is it wrong to "put the good word in for somebody" ?
Granted it goes without saying that the "good word" from madigan carries far more weight
then if i called.now if madigan let's say was to "withhold" funding because of not considering this guy then it would be extortion but just calling as they infer here is maybe at worse unethical but probably not illegal

Remember 3 years ago when the CEO of Metra killed himself? Sounds like nothing has changed...

"Pagano was placed on administrative leave last week after it was discovered he took an unauthorized $56,000 bonus. The Cook County States Attorney's office said it had launched a criminal probe as well."

Also with the pres. of FOP. Madigan was, apparently, calling them all. I don't doubt he has regular conversations with the various union presidents. I only know of the one phone call earlier this year or late last year to MS of FOP. Big deal. No sense sponsoring a bill that everyone hates. Running ideas up the flagpole so to speak.

It's clear that the only solution is to have the Illinois Attorney General investigate and prosecute the Speaker and the current Metra board, just like she investigated and prosecuted Blagojevich and the last Metra board (headed by former Deputy Illinois Attorney General Carole Doris).

What was Ade, Glenn White and Paul Bilotta offered in return???

Who's surprised by Madigan's involvement? Alex Clifford tried to do the right thing and lo and behold the big boys didn't like it. The Metra board jumped on him instead of the politicians that are THE problem. I don't blame Clifford for his severance package, I blame the Metra board for launching him. They could have saved a ton of money by just letting him serve out his contract.

Peter Fitzgerald? Hahahahahaha!

Peter scadaddled because his time in the u.s senate was a fluke and he knew it, kinda like kirk, what a stroke.

You mean Patrick Fitzgerald. The one who had everyone convinced he was such tough federal prosecutor, including you, apparently. Even though he missed Daley, mell, Madigan, and about a dozen other democrat machine operatives constantly using the public's money like it's their inheritance.

Fitzgerald had to have thought a judgeship at least was in the cards for that preemptive warrant, making sure to stop anymore wiretaps on Blagojevich in 08 before any of those phone calls might've gotten too close to Barry. Or maybe tipping off Axelrod to the taps so they knew not to horsetrade by phone. No one seems to remember Axelrod going way off script on channel 32 admitting Obama and Blagojevich spoke to discuss the senate seat, then simply saying he misspoke the next day. Fitzgerald had people listening, Blagojevich wanted all that tape played, didn't happen.
Maybe Fitzgerald is the next a.g. otus.

There should be a federal investigation regarding this. I heard some Metra board member on the radio saying that the 3/4M was less than it would cost to engage in a trial in which Clifford would blow the whistle on wrongdoing.

Feds will go after somebody like Cozzi, but are not interested in this??? You know Clifford came in and wouldn't play ball, and that's why they had to get rid of him.

Expect measures to be put into place to limit the authority of the next Clifford, just like the Inspector General's office.

I can't wait to get the fuck out of here. Less than 2 years to go.
