Wednesday Murder
- A 39-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday morning on the street in the South Side Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened in the 8700 block of South Throop Street about 9:20 a.m., according to police News Affairs [...].
The victim was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene....
After the shooting, two vehicles were seen fleeing from the scene, according to police.
No one was in custody as of late Wednesday morning.
Of course, this is all the fault of Concealed Carry. Not even the law of the land for 24 hours and already a fatality that can only have been caused by the loosening of Illinois' last in the nation Concealed Carry ban.
No FOID Card on scene, no Chicago permits, not even a registered weapon was to be found, so you know right away it's time to blame the NRA and all their racist members. Shame on you all!

I would like to know if any type of statics are released on gun crimes in Chicago that show if the criminal has a foid card, if the gun is stolen and if the criminal is a felon ?

No one is laughing louder than we are here in Indiana.
We have had concealed carry for a long time, and it is (still) easy to get a lifetime "pink card". The wait time is longer now than it was when my husband and I got ours 6 years ago, but only because of the backlog, not a change in the rules. You sheeple in Illinois are getting what you deserve. It is no longer the land of Lincoln, it is the land of Daley, Obama, and Rhambo. Heh heh heh.

As Chicago continues to grapple with a spike in gun violence this summer, its medical facilities are feeling the strain. St. Bernard Hospital — located in Englewood, one of the neighborhoods at the epicenter of Chicago’s gun violence and gang activity — will host a blood drive on July 19, linking its supply shortages to the increase in violence.
An ample supply of blood is crucial for St. Bernard because it serves many victims of gun violence. According to data from the Chicago Police Department, Englewood ranks second in neighborhoods with the most violent crime. Over the past three months, 268 instances have been reported. Englewood also has one of the worst rates of shooting victims per capita: it has 30,000 residents, and so far, 50 people have been shot this year, or one shooting per 600 residents.
The city’s gun violence swells during the summer and creates a higher demand. The hospital’s spokesman, Derek Michaels, explained that getting more people to donate soon is “imperative.”
“We may get someone who’s been shot in the arm or a leg, and they’re treated here and discharged. But that still takes blood,” Michaels said. “And this summer we’ve been seeing unfortunately quite a few of those. On a weekly basis we see quite a number of gunshot victims.”

I was almost the victim of assault recently, and felt completely powerless. Pepper spray? Any other ideas?

What neighborhood watch program asks you to follow a suspicious person? Since when is it not "fighting for your life" t slap the hell out of someone you don't know who is following you? I've been time in enough neighborhoods in this city (Englewood, Little Italy, Lawndale, Mt. Greenwood) to say with confidence Zimmerman would have gotten the same mouth shot if he followed somebody around any of these neighborhoods. If Trayvon was following me I would've felt justified in popping him one. Same for Georgie Poo.

That should probably read "...the Armed Wing of The Civilian National Defense Force..." that President Obama said we needed. That, of course, was before he said, "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon." I wonder who the President thought would make up The Civilian National Defense Force and from whom they would defend "us?"

Wrong? The state will not consider the FOID card a de facto cc card. There are counties that have stated openly they won't prosecute otherwise lawful citizens for what used to be a uuw, but the state makes the law. Some counties are choosing not to enforce it, which I think is cool. I doubt the guy asking is from one of those counties otherwise he probably would've known already that he can carry plus why would they ask Chicagoans for advice on weapons carrying?
