Father of the Year Candidates
- After police spotted a 2-year-old girl riding in a SUV without a car seat Monday they pulled it over to discover that the girl was riding on her dad's lap and that he had hidden 26 packages of PCP in her pants' pocket, officials said.
The stop happened 12:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Harding Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood, as the girl's 24-year-old father, Emmanuel Wiggins, rode in the SUV, police said.
- As Wiggins was being placed into custody he said: “I’m sorry! I know I (expletive) up! Please don’t take my daughter away!’’ according to a police report.
“I got nervous when you guys stopped us and tried to hide it in her clothes,’’ the report quoted him saying.
- A 28-year-old Florida man fatally shot his estranged wife and their 5-year-old daughter this morning in his wife's Little Village home before turning the gun on himself, authorities and relatives said.
The gunman, who according to records lives in Miami, was critically injured but survived.
About 12:15 a.m., a relative called police after hearing shots from the floor below her in a home in the 2800 block of South Kildare Avenue. When police entered the basement unit, they found three people shot.
Words escape us at the moment. One child has just about no chance and the other is denied any chance at all.

The scene was horrific. Probably one of the most messed up things I've seen on this job. Great job by those on scene to keep the non pertinent people away, that is something nobody should have to ever see. You could tell it was horrific when most of the tact team and CFD that came out had watery eyes and had the long stare into nothing.
Sadly, this is nothing new.

And Tact guys are pertinent to a Homicide scene.......That's whats wrong with the CPD......everyone not pertinent to the crime scene is let in......Become a Dick and have a reason to be there, if not stay outside the yellow tape and leave the red tape to the Dicks. Crime scene protection 101.
Mom is dead, baby is dead, bad guy almost dead......tact guy looking to get a CB#, inventory the gun, cmon.......The paper guy has more right to be in the scene than the tact guys.

Amen to your every word. Allow me add it's my personal belief that poster is a hairgel jagoff with barely a handful of YOJ that think tact officers are elite, hardcore, nothing-bothers-us police. They were there because not one of them has enough time on to have seen something like that. And not enough time on to know when barging your way in is something appropriate or not. Hint: staying away unless you're assigned or have some kind of pertinent role in the scene is the correct answer. Douchebags, every last one of those tact guys that showed up just to see the gore.

Some of these guys need to get out of the District and see the other sights in the City. 13 years ago I came to 010 fom a shit hole District.
The Po's, most of them, back you up. The District has plenty of activity to keep a court whore feed. If you put 15 minutes into your day giving the company something, no one messes with you.
The Commander will go like they all do. Make the job into what you want it to be. Quit sitting back waiting to get dumped on by the dispatcher and create your own events. I think a couple periods in a different District would do alot of the whiners some good. Its NOT the Commanders fault you cant play the game. Shes playing the Supts game. Of course she is going to push for more. You think she wants to be belittled by the East Coasts' "embarassment"? (Refer to past stories for examples)
BTW, check out the transfer order for all the better Districts you can escape to..... Now imagine that Commander asking for the same activity.... The G.M. game is City-wide!

Hahaha this has to be sarcastic right? There's only three people who would write this. One is your gang officer who wouldn't know a gang member from his own mother. The other two are Merit Sgts. One who is hidden in your office all day and the other being the newly promoted and freshly made tact sgt who couldn't even be on a tact team in any other district let alone the sgt in this one. Hate to say it but she turned a once great district into one of the worst in less than two years. If it wasn't for the tact teams her number would be the lowest in the city.
