Search for IPRA Leader
- Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday named a former Chicago Police superintendent, an activist-priest and the trusted co-chair of his transition team to a committee that will search for a new chief for the agency that investigates police misconduct.
Sarah Pang, a recent Emanuel appointee to the RTA board, will chair the committee that will search for a $161-856-a-year replacement for Ilana Rosenzweig as chief administrator of the Independent Police Review Authority (IPRA).
Pang was the co-chair of Emanuel’s transition team who was instrumental in the selection of Garry McCarthy as Chicago Police superintendent. She also is a former top aide and public safety liaison to former Mayor Richard M. Daley.
Pang's history leaves much to be desired and her political pedigree is positively embarrassing.

- Joining Pang on the committee are: former Chicago Police Superintendent Terry Hillard, whose appointment as superintendent Pang helped engineer; the Rev. Michael Pfleger; Ald. Deborah Graham (29th) and Michael Rodriguez, executive director of the non-profit formerly known as the Little Village Community Development Corporation.
Hillard and Pfleger? There's a brain trust you can count on to do exactly what Pang and the mayor tell them to do. Along with an aldercreature and a complete unknown, we're really looking forward to the pick that comes out of this group.

Wow, what a diverse committee...I am sure Rahm is proud. However, in the end, Rahm will throw away their report and pick whomever he wants.
Perhaps they can find suitable replacement candidates at a shoe store. That's where most of their democratic party linked investigators come from. Because kneeling at a strangers feet should be a fine prerequisite for the "work" they do.

This aside, Michael Pfleger has repeatedly demonstrated racist tendencies and favoritism to the demographic that comprises his congregation. Is he capable of unbiased contribution while serving on this committee? I highly doubt it.
Hell, he even called for civil unrest after the Zimmerman verdict. Are the citizens of Chicago to trust a man who openly exhibits such disdain for the law of the land with making such weighty recommendations?
Continuing, can't there be a perceived conflict with Hillard in the mix? If I was Joe Citizen I'd be very suspect of having a fellow/former top officer responsible for finding who is to investigate complaints of excessive force and other alleged wrongdoing within my former department.
Oh, I forgot. Consequences for indiscretion and impropriety only effects us peons. Rahm will do what he wants, damned be anyone else.

He was out of shape, in poor health, chain smoker and allowed his friends to use their clout with him as a bludgeon on their enemies. He died in his own house while on furlough and was awarded a line of duty death status for the high stress of being on furlough and smoking cigarettes when he had the big chest grabber. Other than all that, he was great.
Atleast Hilliard was in Vietnam. Better than the Social Science cracker jack box proffesors. Best of the choices.
To the know it all who posted about John Thomas, please get your facts straight. John was not on furlough, he had been at home for a few days with Flu like symptoms when he suffered a massive heart attack. When John Thomas was promoted to the first deputys' job he took the job to heart, every time a copper screwed up he took it personally. this caused him great stress, everyone could see the changes in him, especially his close friends. It was proven that the job caused his heart attack and they granted his wife a duty related pension, So What, he earned it, not like some Dog Ass politician who committed a crime and still got his pension.
