Joravsky Rip Job on Rahm

  • During the 2011 mayoral campaign, I kept hearing a refrain from voters, especially relatively well-to-do north-siders: a tough town needs a tough guy for its mayor. Or, as one put it as we stood in line at a Starbucks on Montrose: "We need an asshole."

Well, Chicago, considering Mayor Emanuel's antics of the last week—bulldozing a field house and then an alderman—I'd say mission accomplished!
Almost always amusing and pretty much dead-on accurate.

What is it Gomer Pyle used to say?

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

"Rahm Emanuel financial aide had close business ties to indicted comptroller"

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-city-comptroller-indicted-0905-20130905,0,2062517.story

Nothing changes in this city.

Guess it was time to "get outta Dodge"

Another school broken into?

Good thing Rahm is working 24/7 on keeping these kids safe.

He must mean 24 hours a week 7 days a month, right?

Our Boy Scout Troop meets in the Old Town Triangle and has done so for 30+ years. We had our first meeting of the new school year last night. When the parents started queuing up for the 8:30 pick-up, some ASSHAT from Revenue started writing tickets for parents that were either standing next to or were seated in their vehicles with flashers on. We tried reasoning but he just kept writing. We called the police and they sent a car with a supervisor. He lamented that he has had to deal with these morons writing tickets for patrol cars on call. What's next, writing for firetrucks connected to hydrants?

Well done Rahm!

Chicago Reader is the only real newspaper in town. They have done more hard hitting pieces exposing the power players in this city for who they truly are than the standard two newspapers.

Know a few people from Wilmette who grew up with the bastard and attended high school with him at New Trier. General consensus was that he was a jagoff par excellent from the word go and uniformly disliked. He also was seriously wired on drugs throughout most of the period. Remember his lost a digit on his hand because it was more important to go to a party and get stoned than to have his finger examined properly, so it got infected. His own father is a doctor!

There are other rumors about his other activities, but they are not germane to Joravsky's rant.

His entire career in politics is driven solely from his ability to raise money. As Tom DeVito (Joe Pesci) would say, he's a "fake tough guy" who "bought his button"
in order to become "a made man."

He sought out the help of the Chicago Democratic Machine (Richie, Rod, Mell and Tomczak) to run for Congress from the city because he lacked the courage to take on Mark Kirk in the suburban 10th District (his long term home was in the burbs, not the city) that was more competitive for certain Republican candidates. The coward could not stomach the prospect of possibly losing in a fair fight.

Any time I see Rahm I can't help but think of a James Woods movie called CITIZEN COHN. It was about an evil man named Roy Cohn who was Sen Joe McCarthys hatchet man. The similarities between the 2 are frightening, they both made careers out of wrecking other people's lives and enjoying it. It seems like Rahm "Channels" this guys ghost.

Rahm is an ass hat and no friend of ours. He supposedly regrets taking the job and in my opinion is in over his head. But is it is not all his fault. Rahm was dealt a terrible hand due to the rampant spending and thievery that went on during the Daley administration. There is no money because Daley spent it all. Another interesting thing is that the media in this town still gives Daley a pass.

I'm a civilian, and my political POV is not yours, but I read this blog and I learn a lot.

The asshole is going to be re-elected unless people organize.

You folks on the right, and Karen Lewis way on the left, both want Rahm gone. So do many lakefront liberals (I'm one).

Police want a mayor who supports the police. Teachers want a mayor who supports teachers. Citizens want a mayor who provides basic public services (public safety and education are the biggies) and doesn't give away the store.

If the FOP wasn't so jacked up right now, this ad would be the perfect platform for a fop rebuttal. Take Rham's feel good quotes about joining a 'calling' for the community and break them down to what they'd really be signing up for... like brown bag lunches in 11th district with pookie!

Thanks anonymous for saying that both the left and right need to come together to get rid of Rahm. I am one of those CPS teachers that wants a mayor who supports teachers and understands what we actually do in our classrooms. The police, firefighters, paramedics, garbage collectors, water department workers, park district employees, CTA employees and every city employee who works to try to keep the city running needs to be respected, understood, and supported. We.as workers need to unite to vote Rahm out of office!

You are an ORGANIZATION. Organize! Get every one of them to turn over a copy of their ticket, sign a letter, and/or converge on your alderman's office en masse. Make it a badge event and teach your scouts how government works and how grassroots organizations can make a difference.

It's the latest sign that we have two Chicagos—one for Mayor Emanuel, and one for everyone else.

Of course, for the mayor, there's a larger collateral benefit to nasty behavior. Whether it's tearing down a field house or snubbing an alderman, it sends a message to prospective opponents: don't even try.

It's short article, but the highlight for me is:
"That raises an important question. Does the mayor do really nasty things—like raze a field house without telling the locals—because he's a brilliant strategist pursing a larger objective?

Or is it just that he's, you know, an asshole?"

Ben Joravsky and Mick Dumke are the only ones who make the Reader worth reading.

Pity they've been blackballed by Daley Inc., Rahm & Co. and the notorious, pantyless, up the ass doing a back-bend across the famous pissy, shit-stained half burned mattress between two abandoned houses local media whores for shining bright lights on the political and financial fuckery in Chicago...

Oh year, and don't forget the time when he sent a fleet of bulldozers over to that airport on the lake to bulldoze the thing in the middle of the night in spite of signed agreements with the State of Illinois to keep it open.

What? It wasn't Rahm? It was the other midget asshole? Well what's the difference? Two assholes cut from the same cloth.

Hey, do you think Daley is getting laid regularly? Man, I feel sorry for that woman, getting in bed with that 70 something asshole, of course, aldermen have been doing it for years.
