More iPad Theft Questions
After the media finally caught wind of the iPad theft story, they make a half-hearted attempt to report on it, but fail to ask a number of questions:
- Nine teens and a 25-year-old man have been charged with stealing more than 300 iPads and other Apple gear worth nearly $100,000 from a Near South Side elementary school last week.
The iPads, seven MacBook Pros and numerous keyboards were stolen sometime in the overnight hours Thursday from carts stored in the auditorium of Drake Elementary School at 2710 S. Dearborn Ave., authorities said Tuesday.
According to a Chicago police report, an alarm at the school was deactivated for more than five hours after the principal secured the building and called CPS headquarters to turn on the alarm. CPS activated the alarm at 2:18 a.m. and it went off about 17 minutes later, the report said.
CPS spokeswoman Keiana Barrett declined to comment on what happened with the alarm ...
Really? No one is going to 'fess up to the alarm snafu? Then there's the question about how do ten people manage to evade any sort of observation by school officials, school security, and neighborhood residents? Three-hundred tablet computers aren't exactly easy to move as a unit without a forklift and a pallet. And even with 10 people doing the moving, that's a lot of trips in and out of the point of entry. We're going to go out on a limb and say there are a bunch more people involved than we're hearing about and the possibility of inside info or help can't be discounted.
Also, our initial info had 400 computers being stolen. The official number seems to be 306 tablets. Make of that what you will.

I bet they were all honors students too, led by their 25yr old mentor.
So what we're saying is that the safe passage program works then?
Anyways, I'd like to know where CPS is buying their Ipads from.
I though the base price was like around $599 a pop and if they're getting them for $333 that's some significant hard to believe educational use discount to me.
The mac pro's are well over a grand a pop.

It be the pooleeses stealing dem itablets from our chillrun. Now, I'm not saying that its true....just repeatin what I HEARD in the communirty
this ain't the first time
I've had cases with CPS where the principal tried to add 100 missing laptops
they were trying to correct the misplacement/ theft of those laptops on that one report
New meaning for safe passage. Hey Rahm the burglars were heard yelling its for the children as they were selling them.Fire the goof who stored them in the open and also forgot to turn on the alarm.
Why would a child need an Ipad? Will the children be taking them home? If so, what's to prevent a bunch of low-lifes from stealing them from a child walking home?
Actually, isn't it true that after police started knocking on doors in the Dearborns a whole pile of the ipads showed up next to a trash container. Can't really count those as stolen, just misplaced.
An old ghetto copper told me when I was a PPO (many, many years ago)"the fastest way to get these brats into school is to lock the door"
Moo-Neek Davis is on her own. No SpankDaddy help.
Where are the iPads and MacBooks for the kids in Oriole Park, Edison Park, Sauganash, Mt Greenwood, Hegewisch, Lincoln Park, et al?
If one kid gets them--all should get them.
I love the reasoning "to make the kids who had to move to a new school feel better about it"
Got to love the liberal mindset.
My kid goes to Garvey, I've asked the Principal where their free iPad was, he looked at me like I was crazy--I'm sure he's gotten that question many times before.
Inside help? I would think so. The principal shutting off the alarm? Not turned on until after 2 AM? Ummmmmm
What grade was the 25 year old in?
Did Someone have the alarm code ?
The Key to this, may be who deactivated The alarm code.
they'll all get probation and this will be the end of it.
Show us the Bill of Sale, including the signed requisition and the named supplier of these $300 ObamaPads.
Cutting the Police budget to make up the shortfall gMac?

Good one!
McCarthy stated that were up from ipads stolen/recovered from CPS, last year at this time.
When will CPS complete their background checks on ALL their new Safe Passge workers, current security guards (especially the gangbangers working in schools), and in the cafeterias.
NONE, and I mean NONE, of these people thought education was so important when they went to school, dropped out, and then got their GEDS. Now, they're making daily decisions concerning CPS students and preparing food for them?
Hey CPS, how many of your employees had their criminal records expunged?
Computers are important. In the future, these children can become prosperous hackers and identity thieves like those fraudsters in Nigeria.
The computer thefts are not confined to the Chicago Public Schools -- at the City Colleges of Chicago computers ordered for Olive-Harvey College were routinely stolen as soon as the boxes were placed on the loading dock outside of the building.
An elementary school in Lake Zurich just had a bunch of iPads stolen from a secured area. You can't blame Pookie and Ray Ray for that. More like Dakota and Kyle.
This same disgusting thievery is commonplace at the Port Authority Bus Terminal's Lost & Found Dept. in NYC by PABT Supervisors. Google “Donna Lebourne abc news" & see the vile face of shame being confronted & exposed.

Port Authority Supervisor Donna Lebourne has an outside job, she is the Vice President of her & her husband’s charity Caribbean Sports International that donates cellphones & other electronics. If you lost an item at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and did not get it back, contact her charity, perhaps she may donate your item back to you out of the kindness of her evil heart. It's very easy to be charitable when you are giving away other peoples' property.

The Port Authority allows these crimes by their supervisors & their enablers to go unpunished. The Port Authority also has an illegal policy of throwing lost valid passports found at the PABT in the garbage, for anyone to find & use for their own nefarious purposes.
The Port Authority’s illegal passport policy is criminally insane in this age of global terrorism and rampant identity theft, This is an act of treason against the United States of America. The Port Authority has become an imminent threat to national security. Google “Port Authority - passports” & “found, stolen, trashed by PA”

No one should be above the law no matter who they are and who they work for.
