6 and 18 (Give or Take a Few) (UPDATE)

Warm weekend, holiday weekend, numbers of dead and wounded are pretty much in line with what you'd expect. We put together the numbers from a couple of articles to get the totals.

And here's Garry's bean-counters trumpeting a 20% reduction in killings:
  • Shootings and homicides in August were down more than 20 percent from a year ago, Chicago Police said Sunday.

There were six fewer homicides this August than in August 2012. Overall, homicides are down 23 percent in 2013: from 366 through the first eight months of last year to 281 during the same period this year, Chicago Police spokesman Adam Collins said.

And once again, 2012 was the outlying year. Compared to 2011, 2013 is within a much smaller percentage of the totals from 2 years ago (can the guys over at HeyJackass.com confirm?) No one is asking the question, "What the heck did McCarthy and Rahm do in 2012 that led to the unprecedented jump in the crime rate?" There were any number of factors there and going through the archives and comments, we're sure you'd find plenty of info about it.

UPDATE: 8 and 20 according to the paper.

Anyone notice how the percentage of murders is LOWERING every time they announce murders are down? First we were close to 50% down, then like 30-something%, then 25%, now its 20%. So how is crime down? Yeah, August had 6 fewer murders than last year so thats something to gloat about compared to last year...Atleast 150 Chicagoans have been killed in the last 3 months which makes this summer DEADLIER than last year!! And there haven't even been a whole lot of "Chiraq type-- 50 shot 10 dead" weekends this summer/year as there were last year.

I saw the number on the 10 pm news on Ch 7. I was WTF, how is this news. Six lower than year before, BFD.

It could mean, bad aim, better doctors, weather, less weekend days (just guessing too lazy to look it up)

That there are about 10 minutes of news at 10 pm and a minute was wasted on this, shows how worthless the mainstream is ( or is it are).

That 281 number is low according to HJ, it should be closer to 300 vs 366, an 18% drop versus 2012 and a 2% increase over 2011 (294). The brass seems to have skipped a week's worth of corpses,

Between the times of 8:36am 32 seconds and 8:39am 15 seconds on Sept 1st 2013 crime went down an amazing 89%!!! compared to the same time last year.
We'd like to thank Spongebob Squarepants, Bozo the Clown, Cookie, Wizzo, Wesley Willis, that guy with the 132lb scrotum, Uncle Rico, Rainman, Nicki the crackhead hoe from 16th/Kostner, and George the Animal Steele. This team of crackshot wizards was put together by the city's "top men", for gathering, analyzing and regurgifizin crime data. Their amazing minds are behind the statistics we know and love. Oh, and also Pearl, the fat vampire from Blade. We can't forget her. She was the leader of this committee until she called bullshit and Raccoon eyes quickly shot her with a UV light.

Ok-I've had just about enough of the "Crime is down" series every freaking Monday! McNutsforbrains came in the door saying, "it's not about the numbers...it's about what you're doing." So hey Gar- what the hell are you doing? With so many people shot/killed every week, doesn't seem like you're doing much!

Any thanks for the low number of homicides should go to the medical community who continue to save the savages who still won't/can't pay for having their miserable lives saved.

SCC - Here are our final numbers for the Labor Day weekend, which we're saying is Fri 12p - Tue 6a.

Shot & Killed: 10
Shot & Wounded: 27
Total Homicides: 11

Looking at the old Redeye datasets, previous Labor Day weekends for the same time period show:

2012: 4
2011: 10
2010: 2

Also keep in mind that quite a few people this weekend came down with some serious lead poisoning so the totals will likely move up from here.

God. Is anybody else sick of Mccarthy as much as I am? Please ship him back to New York and lets start to try and fix this once proud police department.

As of 02 Sep 13 259 Homicides
02 Sep 12 326
02 Sep 11 257
02 Sep 10 292
02 Sep 09 290
The numbers are just averaging out. Anyone who has taken a statistics (Compstat) class knows this. 2012 numbers are so far out of wack they would be tossed out of the study
