- Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy is not happy about the new concealed carry laws in Illinois. And now he is predicting that police will shoot citizens who are lawfully carrying firearms.
During an interview with WVON radio McCarthy made some very bold statements that show his disdain for the 2nd amendment.
Oh, WVON. That explains a lot. Garry is just doing an audio version of his Sabina speech.
- “You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”
Look around Garry - there are dozens of "tragedies" every weekend if you haven't noticed. And homicides are up 4% from 2011 (discounting last year's aberrant numbers.)
We must say that we are glad that McStreetlights will be personally training every officer in the Department - a job made easier by Rahm's refusal to hire adequate manpower and Garry's insistence that everything is all right.
But threatening lawful gun owners with being wounded and even death for exercising a Constitutional Right is just dumb and ignorant.

I remember reading this earlier, but it was not taken out of context. As a licensed handgun carrier in another state, I can tell you that licensees don't get shot down by police because not only are the licensees trained but the police are trained as well. When Oklahoma added open carry as an option to it's handgun license, police and dispatchers were trained how to handle I teractions and MWAG calls.

Most of these people are citizens who back the police. I would consider them benevolent. I don't think it's good police practice to harass or otherwise alienate them in any way, just because McNumbNuts doesn't like them exercising their Second Amendment rights! And it's good to note, that the City has already paid $66 million this year alone in lawsuit settlements, much of it for Burge's ($82M) stuff.

If someone points a gun at you shoot them, they are probably not a legal CCW permit holder. People that have CCW know how to act when dealing with the police. I have said every time this was posted McCarthy is a politician and does not represent the rank and file of the CPD. I don't believe Chicago will have a real Police Superintend until he comes from the rank and file.
Here in Texas legal CHL holders interact with cops all the time. No shootings, no woundings, no attacks on cops... no nothing.

Take the odd case of a "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" rally in Columbus, Ohio, where none of the anti-gun supporters bothered to attend. Instead, dozens of pro-2nd Amendment protesters appeared, began shouting at the seriously out-manned organizers, and shut the whole thing down. By the time the rally was over, it was being anchored by Linda Walker - a member of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation.
"There’s no reason for Mayors Against Illegal Guns to be in Ohio," Walker said. "Ohioans stand up for our constitutional rights and that’s the way it’s going to be.”

Not entirely true. If you get pulled over and you are ccw, respond to police as normal. No need to announce the fact. If the nature of the stop requires you to step out of the car, step out of the car. If asked if you have any weapons on or in your car, say yes. And tell them where your permit/license is.
The above is 100% correct when it says DON't REACH FOR IT! Ever! The cop should learn to use the phrase "without touching or reaching for it, do you have any weapons on or in your vehicle?"
If the subject lies and complies and is found out, nail their ass for lying.
No need to alarm some cop who may or may not be seasoned enough to respond to the situation well. Police should act with caution at every stop, expect a gun in every car in chicago too.

Im sure ther are nitwits in all the free states that are licensed to carry but are really too stupid to own a handgun. The police will be put in tough circumstances if some fool is so brain dead that he turns and points a gun at a cop. Guess what...he is going to get shot. And it should be justified too. If you do not know or have common sense enough to understand you dont point a gun at ANYONE or anything unless you plan on killing it you should not own a gun.

This is old news from earlier this year just recently re-published.

Some of these folks are looking for a "ghetto lottery" payout if they are wronged in any way of their 2nd amendment rights!

Since when are we highly trained I shoot my gun once a year to qualify and I would be willing to bet my 16 yr old niece can pass the joke of a qualification we have to pass once a year. The sad part is there are officers that fail it.

Gee, officer. Seeing as it's your job to carry a gun, don't you think that perhaps you should get your lazy ass to a range and practice so that you are competent with your weapon? I mean, you don't even have to pay for range time or targets like civilians have to do.
Or are you waiting for the government to do it for you like the ghetto dwellers you like to criticize?

HIGHLY TRAINED............I was a P/O for 35 yrs. we used to shoot a couple of times a year the last 25 it was once a year highly trained ...come on I know citizens who shoot every weekend or so way more than most P/O's, this idiot is a cluster fuck.

If someone doesn't show me their hands and starts digging in their pocket, waistband, under the sweater, etc... the are going to be shot. If during the traffic stop the driver refuses to show me his hands and instead digs around under his seat, he will get blasted.
