Half a Dozen Shot

A cool Monday afternoon, crisp even. Punctuated by the sound of gunfire:
  • Five people were wounded this afternoon and early evening in separate shootings on the South Side in the city's Englewood and Grand Crossing neighborhoods.
And another wounding during school hours in 010.  Just a typical Chicago morn.

Dear diary,
It's been a few days since I was able to write down my thoughts but life in 019 has been crazy! First off a couple days ago XO M.R. took a monumental dump and blew up the pipes so the entire station has smelled like booze laden diharrea for days. New station my butt! Secondly they keep giving me jobs! I've handled car alarm calls 99 so many times I lose track! The horrible part is I am trying to study for the sergeants test and these people are bothering me! Some guy came up to my cruiser and knocked on my window. Boy I'll tell you I now know what it must have been like in Vietnam because he startled me something good. Normally I maintain a full tactical state of alertness but I was reading the order on proper display of awards and was so engrossed that he slipped past my danger zone. I think a little stinky gas may have spritzed out. I rolled the window down and the guy tells me that there is a coyote chasing rabbits over in the park. I'm like "isn't that what they are supposed to do?" The guy then asks me what I'm going to do about it, I told him if have to look up the general order on coyotes. Problem is there is no order on coyotes. The guy asks me if I can call someone who does know what to do and I'm like "dude, the Chicago police department isn't equipped to handle this or there would be an order on it" he says well do something about it the coyote is carrying away a rabbit now. So I drove off. My god these people just ask too much of me!

Silly officer; that guy WAS from Vietnam and he was hungry. He wanted you to do his hunting for him and catch the coyote so he could make dinner!

And don't be disrespecting Mike R! His great great grand uncle on his father's side gave his name to the Dan Ryan Expressway so give some respect! His name was Irving Expressway and his father changed the family name to R. er, you know what it is. Anyway, the kids were getting pushed around for having a funny sounding name like Expressway so Dad changed it so people would think he was connected to some former insignificant political puke.

Do you need some good coyote recipes?

heard from 35 th the new DSS order is about to come out. in the order, the DSS position will be filled by sergeants only. under no circumstances will a Lt. ever act as DSS. if available, Lts will be designated as filed Lts. Couple that with the fact that no Lt will ever be assigned as XO, there is now a needless rank in the department. A watch can operate without a field Lt, which means that other than feeding the exempt ranks and captains ranks, there is no real use for Lts, who are now suddenly in surplus. Don't expect a class anytime soon with the rank likely to go to appointment only, much cheaper with no lawsuits. They say the current list has already been scrapped.

Just when you thought IL couldn't get dumber....

Gov Potato Head steps in some shit:

(CBS) — Illinoisans with a felony on their records will no longer be asked about their criminal past when they apply for state jobs.

Promoting the decision to what he calls “Ban the Box,” State Rep. LaShawn K. Ford (D-Chicago) says the governor’s administrative order doesn’t mean private employers will be required to hire ex-cons. It simply means applications for state government jobs will no longer include a box indicating whether an applicant has pled guilty, or been convicted of a criminal offense, other than a minor traffic violation.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/10/07/governor-bars-employers-from-asking-applicants-about-felony-records/

So now felons at the DMV can pass on you home address. Or even better, felons can get access to your FOID card! YA! Sure hope Potato Head gets allot of the felon vote

dont be in a rush to go to Northwestern.....

http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1046349

Why would a bright and promising cardiologist be fired from the University hospital that she had practiced at since 2000?

Apparently, protecting her patients is grounds for dismissal. At least, that is the case at Northwestern University in Illinois.

Despite being promoted to Valve Director in 2006, Dr. Nalini M. Rajamannan was terminated in 2008 after reporting the use of non-FDA approved, experimental medical devices being implanted in patients without their knowledge.

The doctor conducting these human experiments, Dr. Patrick McCarthy, was testing his own inventions, an IMR annuloplasty device and a Myxo annuloplasty device manufactured by Edwards Lifescience.

These devices had not been approved by the FDA and even now, many patients have no idea that they have these experimental devices in their bodies.

As usual most Democrats do not want gun laws enforced on their constituents, but instead call for more gun laws to punish the good, defenseless taxpayers of Illinois.

Tougher gun law proposals trigger call for caution

44 minutes ago • Kurt Erickson Lee Springfield Bureau

SPRINGFIELD | One of Illinois’ top Democrats says the state’s shaky fiscal condition must be considered when lawmakers take up debate on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plan to require tougher prison sentences for gun crimes.

A proposal to increase the minimum amount of time gun-toting criminals spend behind bars could be debated when the General Assembly convenes for the fall veto session in two weeks.

Senate President John Cullerton shares Emanuel’s interest in addressing violent crime, but is still evaluating the legislation.

“Even as the state's fiscal condition improved, we have not reached a point where additional costs can be overlooked,” Rikeesha Phelon, spokesman for the Chicago Democrat said Monday.

The concept, designed to crack down on gun violence in the state’s largest city, would add 3,860 inmates to the state’s already overcrowded prison system, the Illinois Department of Corrections estimates.

That surge would require more space for inmates than is currently available, as well as more than $700 million in additional operational costs, the agency says.

“Based on current inmate population, IDOC does not have sufficient capacity to take on another 3,860 inmates,” Corrections spokesman Tom Shaer noted Monday. “The state would need to build at least one prison.”

Shaer did not have an estimate on how many additional prison guards would be needed.

“Hundreds of new employees, to be sure,” he noted.

Target slashes attacker with knife on Chicago Riverwalk

Posted: Oct 08, 2013 9:38 AM CST
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A man who tried to attack two people near the Chicago Riverwalk got more than he bargained for Monday night, when one of his targets fended off his attack by slashing him with a knife.

The two were near the entrance of the riverwalk, near 2 E. Wacker Drive, when the 31-year-old man verbally confronted them about 10:45 p.m., police said

Words quickly turned to action when the 31-year-old attacked, only to be fended off when one of the two pulled out a knife and cut his attacker.

The wounded man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with cuts to his chest and face, police said. He was listed in good condition, but refused to cooperate with investigators.

The two people who fended off his attack were initially taken into custody. But police said they will not likely be charged because they do not believe the two instigated the attack.

“Formerly incarcerated individuals shouldn’t face a life sentence of no job prospects and no opportunities to better themselves just because they have served time in prison,” Governor Quinn said. “These new laws will help them get back on their feet, contribute to their communities and keep one offense from becoming a life-long barrier.”

Senate Bill 1659, sponsored by State Senator Patricia Van Pelt (D-Chicago) and State Representative Arthur Turner (D-Chicago), increases the income tax credit for those who hire qualified ex-offenders from a cap of $600 to a maximum of $1,500 per employee.

It also allows the tax credit to be valid if an ex-offender is hired within three years of being released from incarceration, rather than the current deadline of one year

Forget playing by the rules. Forget living a clean life. Just go to prison and your chances of getting a state job are the same as law abiding people.

Private employers are now incentivised to hire ex-cons over law abiding folks

Moral of the story: in Illinois, Crime pays

It's too bad so many people of color are dying in the streets of Chicago. We need common sense gun control.

That is the standard line by the liberals. Why is it that in other parts of our country people are armed to their teeth. Yet they don't shoot each other left and right? Also anyone think this is all by design? If they wanted to really make sure thugs don't get their hands on guns then they could easily make the criminal penalties stiffer. But they don't.

So Emanuel is changing the rules for Retirees health insurance benefits right away...not waiting to see how the court case goes. Rather, he is increasing the monthly amount Retirees must pay for their health insurance. Yet, he markets the promotion of the Illegal Immigration Plan to pass which will cost our taxpayers millions and billions of dollars in payment for Illegals healthcare and more. This has nothing to do with healthcare or insurance or adjusting to society's issues or for the Natural Wave of legal immigration...this is to garner votes, only votes...he'll run the city pocket-book dry to get the vote...and so will Quinn and the other state keepers.

Remember this, a one party system is no good. Folks will rule the day.

There is no G.O. on coyotes. But there is a Special Order.

Officers handling coyote calls will,
1. Don the appropriate seasonal Road Runner uniform.
2. Begin to run at a speed that will make his legs appear
to form a circular motion.
3. Run to the nearest cliff and cause said coyote to run
off same.
3. a. In lieu of a cliff, officers will lead said coyote to a tall
building where a large anvil will be deployed to
eradicate the coyote.
5. Complete an information report with the original
forwarded to G. Elmer McFudd.

Numerous officers have been banned by the XO from working at 019 East 850 w. addison, and now have to work at 019 west, Area Nroth, Belmont and Western, whatever it's being called these days. Seems a Sgt. who was asked about wether he possessed testicles and was then told to go ahead and tell the XO, happy stash, did exactly that. Now the officer is banned from working 019 East. Seems the XO blew yet another gasket after getting into a screaming match with the Commander in which his significant other who WAS the commanders secretary got dumped. Well now she's a 019 dist. dog as well working at Lane Tech the XO' s alma mater, on the school detail. I could go one but my latte is ready, decafof course..... oh wait a minute " yea squad 19-p that disturbance," " I know i was on it for an hour but hey its 019 " ......ok now I can have my latte.....

They were just angry over a lack of fresh vegetables. The neighborhood will quiet down after the whole foods opens.
