Welcome to the Party Pal

  • Damarcus Dotson was caught with a loaded .38-caliber revolver in his waistband as he tried to ride away from the police on a bicycle on Aug. 11, 2010 in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Dotson — then 17 — pleaded guilty and faced hard prison time.

But Judge Vincent Gaughan gave the teen a break and sentenced him to the Cook County Jail’s boot camp — a four-month program with eight months of supervision.

[...] Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy pointed to Dotson’s boot-camp sentence as an example of what’s wrong with criminal justice in Illinois.

“Eighty-five percent of murders in this city are by gunfire, so what message does it send about our priorities when state law doesn’t provide stiff punishment for criminals who carry illegal weapons?” McCarthy said in a prepared statement.
Well, how about pointing out that Cook County Board President Preckwinkle and others think too many "persons of color" are spending time in jail. And Governor Potato is releasing all sorts of prisoners early (including violent felons slipping through the cracks) and shutting down prisons. It's a systemic problem to say the least and the bad guys know how to exploit it.

Cook County Board President Preckwinkle and others think too many "persons of color" are spending time in jail.

Maybe they should stop committing crimes!

BTW who are the 'others' that think this too, gang bangers [of color]?

Aren't most crimes committed by "persons of color" against "persons of color"?

Now these Democratic politicians have the gall to say "there are too many persons of color in our jails". Then they say the reason is institutional racism. Well if we have institutional racism then why is it that we don't have so many Asians locked up in jail? Per capita they have the lowest rate of violent and non violent crime. That is a question my liberal professors could never explain back in my university days.

O.T. Sergeant Study Groups

I paid $700 for the Brad Woods Sergeant Study Group. It's $700 that was wasted down the drain. Some of my classmates took the Bernstein course. Most people say that is a waste of money too. Your best bet is to form your own study group and assign each person homework to summarize the information. Then you guys share your summarized information. Also with flashcards write out the definitions. If you get a group of five to eight people the grunt work can be finished very quickly.

Retired guy of 29 years, we need a little more information. Did your wife mention that you were a retired P.O., or did she have an "attitude". I am not trying to give you a hard time, but I have stopped a police officers family members who were complete and total ass hats. I still always extended them every courtesy even when they did not deserve it. My own son was written a ticket a while back in 008, but he never told the copper that I was on the job, and yes he was courteous, respectful and polite. (I asked the P.O. who by the way was not a jagoff) If the copper does not know that you are the police, and your wife didn't tell him, don't blame him.

Since the ban on Illinois CCW was thrown out by the 7th circuit fed appellate and determined unconstitutional, you should have a lawyer review your circumstance and see if your conviction could be thrown out and clear your name.

I think it's more of a issue of anita alvarez and compliant judges letting prosecuters take the misdemeanor for the quick conviction with judges and defense attorneys making deals

Everyone and their cousin with a Star gives everyone else on the Job an old fashioned "Im on the Job" or "Do you know who I am" comment when they done F'd Up and got caught.

And god forbid you get a ticket from Revenue.. You'd be ranting and raving that they didn't genuflect to your badge and beg your forgiveness for just doing their job because it inconvenienced you despite your screw up

Bullshit Ticket?

9-76-050 A & B are specific.

So is 9-76-090 B.

And so is 9-76-080.

Be glad she only got 1 ticket.

That's it in a nutshell.

I think you missed my point. My point was about generations of cops not about whether I got a ticket or not. I paid mine. I didn't expect anyone to genuflect but I surely didn't expect to get yelled at by a member of your fine department for a traffic violation. The way that guy yelled at me was unacceptable.

Nope...didn't miss your point.

However I agree no one needs to be yelled at over something that might only result in a parker or admin notice.

not a fan of mp police, did meet a few at a local drinking establishment in mp while i took my business to the burbs with some friends. Some came in and were not in uniform but rather in biker outfits (vests), and they introduced themselves as mp po's to other people at the bar as well as us( don't know why ,but i guess they felt the need to let people know who they were, heck one was even a sgt.( as he gladly told the other patron)( looked like they were friends of the bartender and owner) and guess what?, they had patches on the front of their vest that supported outlaw motorcycle clubs, I'm not a biker but the patch said " support your local outlaws" and a diamond shaped patch that had "1%" and that i've seen in documentaries on cable. so there you have it. they are not our friends, they are criminals just like the gangbangers they don't write...
