C'mon Sinkhole!

  • A sinkhole swallowed part of a road in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side this morning, officials said.

City crews have closed off the area around the hole near 124th Street and Wentworth Avenue.

According to an e-mail from Shannon Breymaier of the Mayor's Press Office, the city Department of Water Management is still investigating, but based on what is known now, a leaking water line running from the water main to a home breached a sewer main and washed away the soil underlying the street. The street caved in, breaking an 8-inch water main, resulting in a hole that is about 30 feet deep and 14 feet wide.
We hoping another one opens up around Clark/Washington and Randolph/LaSalle and then a third at 35th and Michigan.

It is a sign of coming destruction and devastation. The underpinnings of the city are being eroded. The rot will spread.

I would like to see a sinkhole open up in Maggot Daley park. Then the taxpayers could fork out another 56 million bucks for some new dirt and sod. VOTE Democrat !

Don't worry the next sink hole will be in 012th Dist at Harrison and Racine! N/b lanes. The street keeps sinking and the brilliant city and who is the head of streets and San but some deputy flunky who is retired and collecting a pension and a salary from the city, just keeps putting asphalt on top of it.

I had some business to attend to at 35th street about 2 weeks ago. I parked on 36th street on the west side of Michigan. On the part of 36th st that curves south, there is a softball sized hole in the middle of the street. I happened to glance into it as I walked by and noticed that it is pretty much the entrance to an underground cave. There was NOTHING under the street. There was just empty space that went down several feet and expanded outwards pretty wide. I could see a layer of gravel at the bottom of it. It's a bit far from HQ, but if it gets ignored for long enough maybe it will suck the whole damn building in.

Two separate sinkholes on my block in three months. More on the next block later on. I asked the repair crew supervisor if he thought maybe some new sewers for this taxpayer area were in order. He said they have done about 50 in the area and have to do them after the damage is done, one by one. Nothing new and improved for the taxpayers on the NW side.

The one at 4200 N. Hermitage has white-hot fire shooting out of the ground with fork-tailed cloven hoofed, horn-headed fellahs with pitch forks dancing, prancing, turning pirouettes and stabbing the shit out of each other.
