Tourist Shot Story Falls Apart
- At least seven people have been wounded citywide during six shootings from Saturday night through early Sunday, officials said.
Police had earlier said that a 48-year-old man was shot in the back as he sat in his vehicle in the 100 block of East Superior Street about 11 p.m., but police later said that did not happen.
Chicago Police News Affairs [...] said Sunday that an investigation determined that the man's story was false and that he had been shot elsewhere in the city in a drug deal.
Did this story even sound remotely real?
- Police had earlier said the man was a guest in a hotel in the 200 block East Walton Street, told officers he was driving a rented 2014 Jeep Patriot at Superior Street and Michigan Avenue when he heard his driver's side rear window shatter.
The hotel valet parked the vehicle and once the man got into his room, he found his T-shirt was "wet and full of blood" and realized he was shot on the left side of his chest and his left rear shoulder, police said. He notified the front desk clerk and police and an ambulance came to the hotel.
Rear window shot out, yet wounded in the chest and back? And having the valet park the car? They ought to charge this guy with just being an asshole for starters.

I'm sure I ain't the only one here. I read this story on Breaking News and told my wife it was bullshit. That it was a drug deal gone sour. And I been retired six years. Nothing changes, victims lie, witnesses lie and offenders lie.
Of course he wouldn't want to say he was on the West or South Side looking to score some drugs.
Maybe some of those Rahm Red Light or Speed Cameras can pinpoint that vehicle somewhere.
Or is there someothere Big Brother tracking log that can check the route of the vehicle.
I doubt if any cop in those areas filled out a contact card on him.

Why is Chicago so unwelcoming and unfriendly towards tourists? Some cities bring in lots of $$$$ from the tourists. A city isn't going to be bringing in much in the way of tourist $$$$ if it gets the reputation for shooting tourists.
That story stunk from the get-go. Was just waiting for the real story to come out, which turned out to be just what I figured.

I live 3 blocks away from the supposed incident, and it didn't surprise me that this was BS. Granted, if it did happen, the Patrol folks on the Mag Mile would have been there instantly while the folks in 018 waddled on over eventually, making it a true circus.

So if i was to pull over the white guy in the newer car on the west or southside because my intuition believes him to be out scoring drugs , when does it become racial profiling, if i was a black cop or white cop ? She may have a clout job but I worked in 013 when she was there and she always did her job never dogged anything. Not saying she or anyone deserves to be handed that job but she did work when she was a blue shirt

the news Friday morning, I immediately called bullshit.
"sound remotely real?", uhhh, now lets not forget the gentleman shot in the back literally right outside the south loop Daley compound a few months back. That was real and he was real dead. Or the gentleman sliced up in the high brow downtown hotel restroom this summer. I believe that was real. Never assume it won't happen everywhere and anywhere in this cesspool of a city the libby's have created.

FYI
The patrol folks on the MAG MILE are PPO's freshly out of the academy and are not authorized to respond to calls or leave their posts. They are there for show..... Chicago style smoke and mirrors. If they see something, they are to report it to OEMC and OEMC will send a beat car to handle the job. In the next month or so, you will see over 400 PPO's roaming the Mag Mile who can't do any police work whatsoever. Just stand there and look pretty, you see something turn the other way, hear a call on the next block... stay put.
You can't make this shit up.
