- Whose bright idea was it to have SWAP come to Homan Square the other day(Thursday) to clean the parking lot grounds? This department never ceases to amaze me. Undercover officers told to stay away until SWAP was done cleaning up. Truly fucking amazing. Seems like Rahm was looking to save money and utilize felons to clean our facilities for free instead of hiring actual contractors. WTF?

It gives them the opportunity to scope out bldg security placements and procedures as well as personnel comings and goings. If the overhead doors were open they could gaze at vehicle's and equipment etc.
Considering the contractors who proctored the Sergeant's Exam there isn't much differene between them and SWAP.
Is there any security for anything we do any more? There was a heavy KGB presence in the Polish community in Chicago. They recruited or threatened the Polish janitors who worked in the research buildings of places like IIT. During WWII janitors at Manhattan Project facilities had to be illiterate to not know what was written in notes or on blackboards.
I think it's a fairly decent idea. Nearly every police parking lot and garage is disgusting and in need of serious cleaning. Sure, it would've been better to have notice ahead of time so officers could park elsewhere during the cleaning, but some cleanup is better than none.
I see that our illustrious Sheriff hasn't learned his lesson from the dog kennel incident. And shame on Rahmbo and McStreelight for allowing it to happen.

Does anyone have any information on when they will announce the next sergeant's class? Oh it would be nice if they promoted everyone by their exam score order. Both of them are hard workers and do a good job. They don't mess with anyone. So what more do you want? You don't know what bad supervision is. In my district some Sgt. are out to get you. That isn't the case in 017.

I'm not a u/c and agree some of them think that they are CIA but it would be a concern of mine if I had to walk up to someone on the street and buy dope and have that person recognize me from when they were doing swap. Especially since the hair gel police in my enforcement car is probably playing on his iPhone.

It's really sad what has happened to our Chicago Police Department! I don't care if you have 1 day on or 30 years, we are all Brothers and Sisters in Blue. Yes, some Officers have clout, some Officers have no clout, some Officers are White, Black, and Brown, some Officers are educated, some Officers are not, some Officers Love this job, some Officers, not so much, some Officers are aggressive, some Officers are not, some Officers work in Districts, some Officers work in Units,.....however, for all OUR differences, WE ARE CHICAGO POLICE OFFICERS! When I was a young teenager, long time ago mostly during the Kenndey and Johnson administrations I did a lot of grunt work for my elderly neighbors. I mowed lawns, raked leaves and shovels snow and other odd jobs.
How many of you would have your kids do such jobs these days even for people you know.

Gee....I always thought swap was for offenders that were convicted of minor offenses such as traffic and misdemeanors, didnt realize they were felons. Yea....it would have been better to leave the place looking like shit, most of the guys don't mind it. Unbelievable.

Don't mistake constructive criticism with infighting. There's nothing wrong with a little debate, especially when people need to be taken down a peg or two, and where better to do it than on an anonymous blog.
Thanks to SCC for providing this forum. His/her/their work often goes unappreciated, and it IS a lot of work.

I wouldn't worry about those guys working swap all of those offenders r for minor stuff like traffic. They even have to pay to work swap and they also miss a day of work they get double fucked sucks to be them.
I would never use a department covert. Long before there was a blog, s'heads all knew the comings and goings out of Homan. They would even tell me which cars were the coverts. I would find a tvb, then use that s.o.b.'s car as a covert. When I was done, I'd call in the tow.
