More Exempts Leaving?

They can't stand McGoof or what?
  • The supt is livid that Goreman and OGrady both dropped tier papers for the end of Nov. Goreman to Amtrak and ogrady to Harwood Hts as the chief. 10 other exempts interviewed for various local Chief jobs. I guess everyone is getting tired of The Supe listening to that egg head Wysinger.

This is what I do appreciate about SCC. Though a lot of nonsense gets posted, you also get some credible info. As well. An example, the post above. If you follow up and go to Harwood Heights website, click on November 14th board meeting agendas, you will find that the agenda includes a vote to approve O'Grady to the position of chief. Harwood heights has a population of about 8,700 people and a police force of 24. Not an error, 24. That explains why he was shipped out of narcotics to 011. Not a bad guy, he was a working cop in 013, heavy of course though.
So will the West Side "revrunds" push for their commander choice again, even though McJersey told them to go pound sand a month ago?

Good for both of them, but this is also what is draining the pension at a quicker pace. Hillard and Cline started the trend of giving 10 year old brats the exempt positions, of which they retire just before or as soon as they turn 50 years old. If one of these juvenile exempts lives for 30 more years, that's over 3 million dollars of cpd pension funds in his/her pocket.

This is exactly why "in the much older days " only Lts or Capts were given exempt positions usually after they were 50 years old. It was generally anticipated or expected that they would stick around for another 10-13 years to collect the big money before they retire. Not to mention the job was actually fun and nobody wanted to retire until they were 63 years old.

Thanks again you self serving bastards Hillard and Cline.

Watch that McAsshole will start importing more exempts from NYC.

We need to take our department back.

NEVER call this goof Mr. Superintendent.

"Mr. McCarthy" will do just fine.

While we are at it. …

This department has been literally decimated. It is a provably fact, McDufass is trying to destroy the institution of the CPD and remake it into what the Socialist dictators want.

The media has been ignoring this fact. How many times have you heard a news story about a murder or shooting and the talking head ends it by saying, "police have no one in custody."

Because there just isn't enough police and we are losing more of our experienced officers ever day.

If you ask Rahm or McGoof how many officers were there when you started and how many are there now you will not get a straight answer.

Well screw them..

Let's have FOP publish the numbers on a monthly basis. Make some graphics to show how short handed we are and don't let the media ignore it. On this day we had so many P.O.s, so many Sergeants, so many Lieutenants and so on.

Do it Mickey!. This is a matter of officer survival, health and keeping our pension funded.

Everybody that CAN flee, IS fleeing...

So what if McMooky gets mad?

His insulation (the exempt echelon) is burning off on re-entry...

Is he mad that Coppers are fleeing in droves to get away from his idiocy?

That has to sting like a mofo for a superintendent of Police to KNOW that by his own hand, he has completely LOST an entire Police Department.

Well... Maybe it doesn't sting for McMooky... That would require a soul and a conscience.

Same holds true for Rahm Al-Ghoul too... He HAS to be pissed that his strategy of picking an unnecessary fight with Policemen who have to contend with Rahm's very real animus plus the real life cares and concerns of trying to survive a mean, nasty, ugly, shit doo-doo job dealing with mean, nasty, ugly, shit doo-doo people and situations while trying to keep body, mind, soul, family, home and hearth together.

It looks like The chit chat about Rahm very much wanting CPD under 5000 is plausible...

Fuck whether people will actually be able to move around freely, safely and unaccosted on the public way.

Joe turned 50 a couple months back and Jim is right there as well. A true loss to the rank & file, gangs, narcotics and to the overall City of Chicago. Decisions by young talented guys like this make me (us) realize there is more than just the CPD and their bureaucratic bullshit. Eyes wide open to that light at the end of tunnel. Best to both of these true professionals.

Nonetheless, he was a reasonable man and easy to work for. He appreciated good officers doing good work and didn't go wacko in response to McJersey's bullshit. It's a shame to lose him.

Of course, I'll never be able to leave with a $111K Plus pension and paid medical while walking into another 6 digit paycheck with three more pensions after ten years. Make no mistake, if I could I damn sure would. I'd be gone so fast McJersey would still be doing his De Niro/Capone impersonation before he realized I was gone.

I would honestly have to say no, I wouldn't have taken this job had I known how fkd up things really were. I'm vested and at the age where it would be unfeasible to start over in another department. I'm going back to school for certification in a different career as my post retirement plan B- in anticipation for worst case scenario with no pension. It's really sad that you can give this department the best years of your life, sacrificing countless days without your friends and family, tax your health both physically and mentally, and they repay you by finding endless ways to punish you; financially, from docking your pay to ill faith contract negotiations, disregarding your rights as an employee and citizen, undermining honest efforts in policing through a corrupt and lax judicial system- from state's attorney to judge, and holding you to ethical standards that they exempt themselves from, and do so with blatant and brazen disregard. It is truly criminal.

I saw this very early on when McCarthy just came here. He began getting rid of anyone that would disagree with or challenge him. Slowly but surely that left all yes men/women and no real leadership to tell McCarthy that some of the things he's doing should not be done. Nobody questions the guy or speaks up in fear they'll get dumped/forced out. That is a never a good thing to have all the power with no objections in one persons hands.

Oh nooooooooo, the exempts are leaving. What will we do without them? What will we do with them?

Do you want to hear a funny joke? A Supt. and mayor said that "the patrol division is the backbone of this department". Initially I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. So I first laughed and then cried. The city has no intentions. None, what so ever of hiring enough officers so we can take care of business. Nope, the politicians feel that public safety can be done on the cheap.

Anonymous Dump the Rat and McGoofy said...

Are you kidding? McGoofy listening to Wysinger? Seriously? Al is a nice guy but non-operational. He's just holding on to a spot, wouldn't you? The goofball in the big boy chair gets his orders from the little rat in city hall. He is nothing but a lapdog to the politicians. He is told what to do, what they want and he sets out to do it. He is not a free thinker, he is not concerned with crime conditions in the city other that how they effect the politicians. He only takes orders from the rat an no one else as seen by his confrontation with Ervin over a white commander in a "black district". The rat said it was ok, so McGoofy was able to get mouthy, otherwise he would have his tail between his legs. He was brought here from Jersy to shrink the size of the Department at any cost. He was the dark horse pick by the rat after he was secretly interviewed before the rat was elected and obviously agreed to obey. The rat really don't care about crime conditions otherwise this goof would be long gone. The rat wants the department downsized, and is pulling out all the stops to do it. And, he doesn't like any interference or resistance to his demands. That's when he gets vindictive. But this is where we( the department) need the help of the citizens. If they live or work in the city they need to call write march and be loud- very- very loud to the alderman, the city council the inspector general and the rat himself about the understaffing of the police department and they inability to be protected or get service. Burglaries get reported and are not investigated. Same with auto thefts. The public thinks we are out looking for their stuff, their cars and the bad guys who took them but we are only providing them a report as a whore service for their insurance company. Violent crime makes bad politics. People dump politicians over violent crime and the political pukes know it. These politicians need to get dumped unless the rat increases the police staff back up to safe numbers. We are in the 9000s, from over 13,000. 4000+ understaffed with the likelihood of additional reductions is a huge disservice to the public, let alone unsafe for us. Now is the time for the public to speak up. Yell, holler and demand, no matter who you are or where your from. Call the alderman, write letters, make demands and threaten political action if your demands aren't met.

..............

I read on here all the time that it doesn't matter how many police are in certain areas, the problems won't change. The "experts" on this blog say that crime is a result of no parents, no respect for human life, people will act like animals no matter what we do, but a Commander, and a good copper at that, gets blamed because jag offs keep shooting. Make up your mind.

Than I read things like, I'm not writing a ticket, I'm not stopping anyone, I'm not arresting anyone, I'm not doing shit. So the Commander says fuck it, I'm out or he gets dumped. Then the "expert" on here says the district is a mess and crime is up because the commander is a jerk, or doesn't know what he's doing.

Here's one for you: the Commander succeeds or fails based on what the workers do. Look in the mirror.

I am aware after 28 years that there are asshole commanders who can't handle people for shit. I have experience working with and for both Gorman and O'Grady, and neither of them fall into bad boss territory. I worked More with Gorman whether in a district, in a unit and at side jobs. He was a working copper, locked guys up and put plenty of guys in jail for a long time. And if you think his Dad was some clout guy ask Bobby Rush.

And one more thing to the poster who keeps trying to link O'Grady to the former Sheriff? They aren't related, you uninformed ass.

Good luck to them both.

Answer me this one if you will..

How can ANY Cop...blue shirt to gold braid exempt...Prevent a Shooting?

Gang problems abound because the City refuses to support the police and that includes the exempts that can be fired for any or no reason. Until such time as this city gets a mayor with the Stones to declare gangs a "clear and present danger" to the safety and security of the citizens of Chicago and request DHS and ICE to come in and help the CPD clean them out with Body bags supplied by the National Guard..shit all will change.

No I would not. Im not miserable. Im just beyond disgusted. Some of you dough heads think life would cease to exist without this job. That's why we get shit on and always get screwed come contract time. We don't and never have in my 22 years stuck together

If its so bad, after 22 years get off or retire. Your vested, take you expertise elsewhere. If you think you life would be better without the job then leave it, the worse that can happen is you have to wait until 50 to get your pension of 54% plus all the accomplishments you would have done after this job

It's not the same old bullshit….KP is highly qualified for the position. There was a formal application process, qualifications were confirmed, interviews were conducted and experience was taken into consideration.

She is aces, definitely has the background to go there, no question about it. I wish her the best and you will love having her there.

However, there was no application process. There was no notice about submitting resumes. Legit, Just like Spiro going out there? I don't dislike him, but when his brother is a big boss overseeing the unit, that's how it's done. Sometimes it works for ya, sometimes it doesn't. The game swings both ways. But don't kid yourself about a legit process. Very few if any in this department.

Saleme to 2nd Dist and Williams to area south.

My guess Argenbright and saleme will retire.

That leaves 2 for Lott and 8 for Kulbida.

----
Why can't these guys just leave the job at $111,000 and enjoy their retirement? Do nothing but have a great life with a great pension. Ask yourself that, is it the POWER?

11/17/2013 08:53:00 PM

No, it's not the power. It's the golden ticket, the E ride. It's the lottery win.

It costs a lot to send a couple of kids to college. It costs a lot to buy or build that dream retirement home while you're still paying for the one you HAVE to have in Chicago.

I have retired CPD friends who took that post-retirement job to pay cash for the new car, the snowmobiles, the cabin, the honeymoon they never had and they paid off the kids' student loans. It had nothing to do with 'power'; it had everything to do with having no debt and going into retirement secure, knowing they were set, even if some ass like Emanuel stole half their pension and medical coverage out from under them.

I'm taking their cue and I have a job lined up for three to five years. I'll still be fully retired by the time I'm 61 and I'll be financially secure.

Rahm brought in McGoofball to destroy the CPD and run it on the cheap and blow the employee pensions. The citizens and cops be damned.

The suburbs that bring over ex-Chicago brass might be trying to buy some expertise but it is admitting that they failed to develop their own personnel to be able to take over the top spot.

I thought about trying to get a Chief's job somewhere when I retired. I wonder if that could be done without being tied up with politics that are just as bad as Chicago.

But if I did, the first thing I would do is call a meeting of everyone in that department with more than 10 years on the job.

I would tell them...

All of you will have my best efforts to make this a good job and a safe job.

You may call on me at any time for any reason, but follow your established chain of command.

I will be here for I don't know for how long but one of my main goals will be to develop personnel by education and experience so that when I leave here the new Chief will be someone in this room.

It appears Gerry is grooming Missy to be something. If Missy stops writing, our taxes warrant an increase.

11/17/2013 09:21:00 PM

I hate to be the one to break the news to you but….there was an application process advertised around the end of August for Sergeants in the Special Functions Division (which includes the airports). KP was selected and assigned. You were not selected…suck it up. Just because you were not picked doesn't mean they didn't select the most qualified person for the job!!

Now these exempts were present during every minute of the Weis and McCarthy Era efforts to destroy this department. They collectively know the dirt about under-reporting crime and the bully tactics of McAsshole.

Not only that, if Rahm can be dumped some of these people might just be brought back to rebuild our beloved CPD.

Is he mad that Coppers are fleeing in droves to get away from his idiocy?
================
More likely they are fleeing IL in general, or trying to insulate themselves from the pension mess as much as possible.

In any case, CPD is pretty old and there are a lot of coppers who can retire. That is almost certainly what is driving retirement as much as anything.

The pension thing has pushed a lot of state workers to retire, especially at the upper end, since they do not know what will happen with their pensions if they don't take them now. A lot of >$100k state employees have taken retirement and are now at new careers.

Most have had no trouble finding a second career and a second pension to draw on eventually.

Coppers are no different than anyone else. When they see the chance to improve their lot in life there is nothing wrong with taking it. As they should. There is absolutely nothing wrong with moving on from the job. The city tries to con you into believing it is some kind of calling, and almost too sacred to leave, like being a priest. That is a lie designed to fool you into sticking around when it is in your best interests to move on. It is just a job after all.

Do yourself and your family a favor and do what is best for you and your family.

Not the smartest idea to hire those who allowed and helped perpetuate the degradation of an entire police force so long as they were able to prosper themselves. Let these "yes" men go find another calling in life, preferably somewhere far from real working people.
========================
You do understand this is exactly what the politicians want in any political appointee. Does not matter much if it is a police chief or a sewer department chief. they want people who will do as they are told. This is not new and has always been this way in any such position. You just do not get promoted much above the level of peon unless you tacitly agree to these terms.

The little secret about going to Airport North is that it's like hitting the lottery. You get to work 1 RDO a week at time and a half and then you get all the other side jobs with the airlines and cargo companies. You see when you go to the airport you just don't work as any regular PO, you are "badged" by the FAA which means you are cleared to go anywhere around the airport and surrounding properties where a regular copper cannot. The same works for the side jobs, you need to be badged and these companies save a lot of $$ by hiring Airport coppers to do the side work because they don't have to pay for the training and the annual fees for keeping their FAA clearance. So if your a PO at the airport you should be bringing in about 48 hrs of OT per month, not including furlough, and side jobs so your looking at $ 20,000-$28,000 on top of your salary, give or take and this isn't like court time this is just there for the taking, no pinches needed, no driving to court, no bs, just $$$. So food for thought people.
