Study Material (II)

Another glaring error - the scenario and solution. You can click the pic for a larger image (we combined the pages into one):

Pretty straightforward scenario and the correct answer is listed as D.

Except.....there is no Officer Redmond anywhere in the scenario. Minor oversight? Sure, but enough to open up untold horrors should lawyers get involved - and they always are in City promotional exams. And it just hints at a whole bunch of incompetence on the part of the test constructors.

Where is the general order or even some kind of guideline from where this question was based on? Oh, wait, thats right, there isn't one. Ignoring the obvious error, this sounds like this was one persons opinion of what the correct answer should have been. A completely subjective question that leaves a lot of room for complaints and maybe some litigation after the test.

And the answer for the ANOV question states the court date has to be at least 14 days.
VI. HEARINGS
A. ANOV citations will be scheduled for hearings using the officer’s court-key letter designation and the “Misdemeanor and City Ordinance” Court Citing Date Card (CPD-11.562). Cases will be scheduled for a hearing date, when practical, not less than 21 but within 49 days of the date of the violation.
WTF! Can I just sue now? U think they would have this cluster fixed before January?

The biggest monkey wrench in this whole test is that even according to I/O Solutions website. On part A of the test, out of all the answers, there is one that is deemed the best response by the subject matter experts. This is one way the testing company can defend itself against "an unfair test" or "a racially biased test".

This test is going to be a joke. Nothing OBJECTIVE about it. That is what tests are; they are an objective measurement of your knowledge. Rather, parts of this test will be SUBJECTIVE. Once again, that is how the testing company can defend itself against any litigation.

11/14/2013 07:19:00 AM

Who is I/O solutions connected to? What are their credentials? What other departments used them? They appear to be incompetent.

When the department decided to hire an independent contractor to write the test. I bet one of the hire ups said they knew of a company. That person then went home and told his slacker kid to get off the couch put down the bong and call your new company I/O Solutions. Then awarded the contract to his kid and presto city contract to write the test plus your exempt salary etc... Only problem your kid forgot to put down the bong.

LMAO, thats what I was thinking. Where is the order on this? It is subjective at best. If you ask me answer A is the best one and the most reasonable. What sgt is gonna get involved in that conversation. Ya right.

To HMO vs PPO, I had a PPO 10 years ago and it was too much money with deductibles and baby well care. Switched to an HMO, no baby well costs, no deductibles, care still
the same, doctors the same, tens of thousands of dollars of medical care for a $20 co-pay.

The way this nonsense seems to be set up, there IS NO "CORRECT" ANSWER!

Only a "BEST" ANSWER to badly worded/structured questions that are intentionally flawed and open to interpretation?

There doesn't seem to be a floor to this shit.

Fuckery in the details?

Is this some kind of "new think" being foisted on CPD?

Remember... You have a host of liberal academic institutions of "higher learning" actively using CPD as a test bed (with the consent of City Hall) for all these experiments, studies, surveys and the like on how to destroy a large metropolitan Police Department.

When the beta testing is proven successful, they'll roll it out to every other democratic urban utopia.

If you have a good doctor like I have HMO all the way, pay 20.00 per visit same price rx coverage. Was in hospital for multiple heart tests I paid total of 20 to hospital 20 to doctor, no bills to your home. Look and see if your doc is in plan. Ppo plan see any doc but you still need referrals just like HMO pay big deductibles and co pays. If you have kids all shots are covered in HMO no charge except for 20 visit fee. My doctor is part of Christ hospital group get good service no complaints had HMO for years!

I honestly thought Answer B was a joke. I mean how do you break up the 3 officers in the store (Johnson, Rogers and Parkus) into "pairs" and send them different ways? It makes about as much sense as when the Good Brother at Leo used to say, "OK now lads, pair off in three's!"
Yet you got partial credit if you chose B.

I take it that none of you non-detective half wits ever served a grand jury subpoena to someone. See below and shut your pie holes concerning a vast conspiracy.

Witnesses compelled by subpoena to appear before a grand jury are entitled to receive immunity in exchange for their testimony. The grant of immunity impairs the witness's right to invoke the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination as a legal basis for refusing to testify. Per 18 U.S.C. § 6002, if a witness who has been granted immunity nevertheless refuses to offer testimony he may be held in contempt of the court that issued the subpoena, and also may be prosecuted for perjury or making false statements resulting from the testimony.

I'd suggest the HMO. People say getting referrals sucks, but I've never had a problem. You go see your primary care physician and if he/she can't fix the problem for you, they give you a referral to a specialist in that network. It's no big deal. Plus I have had no issues at all with billing since we switched from Unicare to BCBS. You do pay a lot more with a PPO, especially if (God forbid) you get really sick or hurt. I had two children on our current HMO and it literally cost me $40. $20 was for the delivery/after care and $20 was the physician fee. The actual bills were over $30,000 for each delivery. With a PPO I would have had to pay a certain percentage of that total amount. Also, with the HMO medical care for kids is way cheaper. Just my opinion.

HMO I believe is the best. 20 co pay. Er 100 co pay. I was in the hospital for 3 days it was completely covered. Always great drs I even have an incurable disease and have great specialists. Unless you really need a certain dr for something I would go HMO. Another plus with my disease I get insanely expensive medicine and the one big one $6000 a month....totally covered.

Obviously, only a bunch of PPOs would have that kind of discussion . A sgt and a bunch of POs walking down the street making conversation with random people lmao . I didn't say citizens since many are not. Meanwhile, there would be a backlog from the lack of manpower. The scenerio must have taken place on afternoons in the 3rd district. A taxpayer district will be lucky to see one P.O. walking down the steet talking to himself. After 20-25 years of this nonsense a po walking down the street in a taxpayer district probably does talk to himself.

I have ppo and I think it's better than HMO. For the deductible enroll in the pay flex. Tax free money for medical bills. I have two kids. So you want to see a specialist but no appointments until 3 months. Just pick another one in the plan. And no you do not need a referral to see a specialist on ppo. And if you don't like your doctor you can get another primary. With HMO you are stuck with him/ her.

I have to disagree. I have the HMO and had no problem changing my primary Dr at all. The co pays are less and as far as seeing a specialist the availability is pretty good. My family had a terrible year as far as sickness and accidents HMO was great for me. With kids and a lot of ER visits and some pediatric specialist plus needing an orthopedic surgeon twice this year I am very happy with HMO and thankful we are choosing between good plans.

HMO for me. I've had multiple serious infections that required hospitalization in the last ten years. Each stay was billed at $70,000 or more, not including doctor's fees. Estimated overall cost for just the hospitalizations over the years, $800,000. I paid $20 each time for a total cost to me of $140. When I need to see a specialist, I get a referral thru my primary physician, no problem. All doctor visits, $20. No co-pays for tests. I switched to BCBS HMO 13 years ago when I was a lot healthier. Never saw the problems coming. Over that time, I saved a ton of money that would've gone towards medical bills. You can still use pay flex too. Do your homework and choose a good doctor who has a competent staff.
