Police Work Made Easy

  • As a former bouncer and martial arts master, Jason Chan has an eye out for people who look like trouble.

So on Thursday, when a man who seemed nervous walked into Juno, the restaurant he co-owns, Chan kept his eye on him. The man seemed too disheveled to be trying to get a table at the Michelin-recognized restaurant at 2638 N. Lincoln Ave.

“He had his jacket in his hand, and it was kind of cold out,” Chan said.

The man asked the bartender for a piece of paper and a pen, then he placed his jacket on the bar. He quickly grabbed it back and ran out of the restaurant as Chan watched.

Chan asked the customer closest to where the man had stood if he had his phone, which had been on the bar. Gary Wolske, a Juno regular, told Chan his iPhone 5 was missing.
What happened next is just jaw droppingly hilarous:
  • He saw him walk into Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria at Wrightwood and Lincoln.

Chan pulled up in front of the pizzeria and confronted him as he tried to repeat his jacket ploy at the bar.

“We engaged with each other, and he tried to push me out of the way and run out,” Chan said. “I grabbed him and threw him into the door.”

While people watching the incident called police, Chan, who teaches a type of martial art called Shidokan, fought the man on the sidewalk.

“He was adversarial, [so I used] hand-to-hand combat techniques to make sure he was unconscious,” Chan said.

“I put him in a maneuver called an arm bar and told him I would break his arm if he tried to get away,” Chan said. The man kept fighting, so Chan knocked him out with a kick to the face and neutralized him until the police arrived a few minutes later.

When the man came to, Chan made him admit what he had done — and where the phone was — to the crowd that had gathered.

Citizens arrest, then a citizen beating and confession. Where's the citizen IPRA when you need it?

Guaran-fuckin'-tee that if a Copper were to tear that ass up like Mr. Chan did, we would have seen the Copper being perp walked into the MCC on the 10 o'clock news with the preening, lip-smacking bobble-heads in every media outlet yammering about how "out of control" CPD is...

And of course, the online comments of both used bowel-rag papers will have the gates to their paywalls wide the fuck open with the usual "insightful" commentary that's hot and poppin' like the deep fryer at Pete's...

We gleefully await the rising tide of justifiable self defense boot-fuckings, beatdowns, maimings and killings by the decent and upright taxpaying citizens of this city.

There will be a lot of crying about "That ain't fair!"

We will laugh our asses off when Rahm's "borrowed" human skin start smoking when he's hit with hard and pointy questions at a media event...

It'll be well worth the grief and aggravation to see him scream and tear that skin off on live TV out of frustration to reveal his true form.

"He worked for Obama so he'll be a great mayor for this city."

>Snicker!<

Good on citizen Chan doing a solid for society but he WILL taste the same bitter stuff Policemen are made to taste.

The "Chicago Way" from everlasting to everlasting.

Shithead WILL sue/Loevy et al will sue on his behalf AND WIN!

*You should have called for The Police and waited, Mr. Chan! Your Honor, we request unholy millions for our client's pain and suffering!*

Chicago isn't a safe place for good people to openly fight back against the upright walking overflow caused by the intentional clogging of the societal toilet.

We hope Citizen Chan survives what's coming next...

This city has been given over to the dogs and decent people don't have a prayer.

No matter how many stories like this, or the videos that surface around the country, like the mom getting beat nearly to death in front of her 2 year old daughter in their own living room, or the other old man getting beaten senseless outside of walmart, or the other video of the other old lady beaten in her own vestibule... and so on and so on...
it doesn't matter, the police is to blame for black violence because of systemic oppression, economic divestment in black neighborhoods, racist hiring practices that deny blacks of opportunity to ascend, resulting in over incarceration at the hands of law enforcement making sure blacks are disproportionately punished so as to ensure the cycle never stops and blacks will always be marginalized and feared for their presumptive savage beast-like appearance to non-blacks.

There is no more debate. That is what is taught in schools. The answer is keep paying the ransom, keep touting their genius and creative prowess in music and entertainment, keep putting out documentaries and movies that promote the same propaganda about how blameless they all are, like some monolithic big baby, or abused defenseless national starving puppy.

Hurry, where'e the next Blindside, The Help, The Butler, Precious, or next flurry of cacamamey tv shows and commercials that portray the black characters as sensible, thoughtful, decent, inquisitive, educated bankers, responsible parents, friendly neighbor, planning for retirement, putting up a christmas tree with family, warm and loving physicians quietly and diligently consulting with an elderly patient,
...while the non-black characters are all bumbling, rude, thieving, senseless, hapless, clumsy, thoughtless, inconsiderate bumpkins who can't pour a glass of wine, save money, use a cell phone, park in a garage without crashing, trim branches without destroying their black neighbor's house or hail a cab, without a kindly generous black person to help them.
Ahh, America... the new soviet union, delusional, state-driven indoctrination and always in denial for the sake of propping up the new ruling politburo, the party, the Chicago Kremlin entrenched in every capitol, university, union hall, and even the church, the new fake church, towing the party line, covering up its crosses for political speeches to please and appease our beloved and dear citizen of the world and his inner circle.

Years ago, gypsies stole my son's nicer stroller at Great America while I was naively taking pictures of him on a kiddie ride. They ditched their cheesy umbrella stroller in the landscaping. Fortunately, a bystander saw the whole thing and I was able to catch up with the thieves- group of five very nasty looking women- and I got my baby's stroller back- but first they had to take their baby out of it! They cussed at me the entire time in "gypsy?"...very scary group! Amazingly, all five turned up in the photos I was taking at the kiddie ride, all staring at me waiting for me not to be paying attention to my son's empty stroller.

Mr Chan being of Asian decent racially profiled the poor victim. Mr Chan had no probable cause to approach the victim/offender. He did not see him take a phone, he just thought he did something wrong because of the way he looked. Instead of calling the police, waiting 3 hours for a squad car to arrive, he took matters into his won hands and attacked the victim. Mr Chan being a Master at MMA/martial arts put a lot of pain on my victim and made him confess about a theft he did not do. While applying an arm bar usually used in an MMA match the offender Mr Chan slipped the cell phone into the victims pocket setting him up. Mr Can did this brazenly and without cause to this poor victim who has never been in trouble in his life. Mr Chan should have filled out a police report and not tried to be the police in this matter. Mr Chan only did this so he can be recognized by the crowd in his vicious MMA style so he can be later put in a Jackie Chan movie.

LMAO good job Bruce Lee Chan. All sarcasm, we need more guys like this so I don't get sued.

CHANCAN-The Jason Chan Fight For Life Fund has been established to help cover mounting medical costs in Jason's fight against Throat Cancer.
To know Jason Chan is to love Jason Chan. His smile is contagious, his enthusiasm infectious. ”Everyone’s friend,” Jason lights up a room upon entering. He has a zest for life and a fighting spirit like no other, a true fighter in every sense of the word. Today, Jason is in the fight of his life, the fight against cancer. Our friend Jason Chan has been diagnosed with Stage Four Squamous Cell Carcinoma...Throat Cancer. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Jason is the only son of his Korean American mother and Chinese American father. A strong background in the restaurant/bar business has provided many successful establishments for Jason Chan, who is best known for Butter, Chicago. Jason recently spent two weeks in Korea preparing for his latest venture in contemporary Japanese cuisine. A passion for martial arts, Jason has spent eighteen years training, as well as, instructing Shidokan, a combination of karate, boxing and jujitsu. He has also spent many years working on Chicago’s trading floors as an arbitrage clerk. The discovery of a small lump on the left side of his neck in January 2012, led to many grueling hours, days and weeks spent in waiting rooms at Cook County Hospital, Chicago. In October 2012, after numerous procedures, blood tests, a cat scan and two ultrasound biopsies, doctors at Cook County removed Jason’s left tonsil containing a 7 cm mass, along with a 3 cm mass and all of the lymph nodes on the left side of his neck. Now being treated in Chicago, at Northwestern Hospital’s Galter Pavillion, by Dr. Mark Agulnik and Dr. Samir Sejpal, Jason is undergoing a very aggressive form of treatment. In January of this year, after the necessary removal of all but seven of his teeth, Jason began an aggressive 7½ week course of daily radiation and weekly chemotherapy. A chemo port device has been implanted in Jason’s chest. Through self-provided intravenous feedings, he is able to receive liquid nutrition, as he is having difficulty swallowing and his salivary glands and taste buds have ceased functioning. While the treatment is foremost on his mind, Jason is looking forward to, and preparing for the grand opening of his new Lincoln Park restaurant, Juno, opening later this spring.

Just A Citizen Asks: Officers, as a person who donates to CPMF and CPD and gives what I can to help out, I have a question that nobody can seem to answer so I come to you. Why isn't the crime in this city stopped or at least corralled? NYC did it, as well as many other cities. This city has money for what it thinks is necessary (repairing the sidewalk on Chicago Avenue when it was perfectly fine as it was), flowers, structures, etc. but not reducing the amount of crime? Why? I am not being sarcastic and I am not an idiot. Many other liberal/democratic cities (LA for example) have a handle on the crime, why not Chicago which is just as liberal/democratic? What is the real reason? I have heard answers such as "they want the black vote" or "the religious leaders won't allow it" but is that really why? It doesn't seem plausible. So I come to you all for some sort of intelligent answers. Thanks and thank you for all you do.

A 25-year-old Bolingbrook man was arrested Nov. 12 and charged with felony-level making a false 911 call after he repeatedly called and demanded police come unlock his car.

Richard J. Rodriguez, of the 700 block of Rebecca Lane, was calling to ask police to come unlock a vehicle of his that was parked in his garage, according to Lt. Michael Rompa.

When Rodriguez called 911 a second time, dispatchers warned him not to abuse the system, Rompa said.

Dispatchers then sent officers to Rodriguez's residence for a well-being check, according to Rompa, and Rodriguez called 911 for a third time while the police were en route.

Police found Rodriguez "highly intoxicated" and late for his probation hearing in DuPage County, Rompa said.

Rodriguez was also scheduled to take a drug test, according to Rompa.

He was arrested and transferred to the Will County jail, Rompa said.

My only problem with this story was that, probably, 98% of these robbery are committed by - you know who - yet, this story is blown to proportions because it be a white robber! Nice enlarged 5x7 SunTimes photo of 'bad white man thief!' Yet, when this thievery is continuouslly happening daily - maybe, the 'kids,' or older adults get a postage stamp sized photo and maybe a quick blurp of reporting. I quickly recognized the brainwash that was trying to be committed on the Chicago citizens and ignored the story for its unimportance to the 'bigger' story that's never told...

To the Citizen at 8:28 on 11-12

There are a multitude of reasons why Chicago can't seem to get a grip on crime. I will try to help you understand from my viewpoint that being a 31 year veteran of the CPD.

The biggest reason IMHO is politics.Nothing has done more damage to this City than the politicians here. They are like cockroaches. They infest and ruin everything. In the CPD, the politicians have infested the Command Staff with their lackeys who have usually hidden out somewhere within the CPD in a unimportant, do nothing job that takes them off the street. They have climbed the ranks of the CPD because they are connected and eventually wind up in a Command Staff position making policy while at the same time not having any idea as to what needs to be done to reduce crime because of their lack of experience. They just do not know what to do. So they pontificate and design new programs none of which work.
Another problem is the States Attorney. You mention NY and LA. While it's true that they are also liberal and democratic, no other city has a system like Cook County. That system being one that bends over backwards to PROTECT the criminal element. While we all really do want a fair and impartial judicial system, here they do everything they can to NOT prosecute criminals. It's just the way it is. The CCSA's office will go out of their way to find a reason to not approve felony charges on a felon. They will even re-write the law. Use the Retail Theft statute as an example. In misdemeanor cases the will sol cases at trial. IMHO they are the biggest reason for crime in Chicago.

I hope this gives you a little understanding or is a good answer to your question. There are more reasons but this should suffice for now. If you need more, ask again.

At a fire back (quite) a few years firemen found a car parked on the hydrant. They broke the car windows and ran the fire hose from the hydrant, through the passenger window, across the front seat, and out the driver's window. Ah, if we only had cell phones then. Funny shit.

Wow....then I must have been high and dreamt it when I was on the scene, years and years before that movie, which I've never seen, was released.

Jason has been friends of the police for over 20 years and continues to work out at Chicago Fitness Center which is owned by a CPD SGT. He teaches self defense classes there and just opened a restaurant in lake view called JUNO. He also just over came a bout with stage 4 throat cancer having no health insurance. If you want to reward him stop by his restaurant and buy a meal or take one of his self defense classes. He's the real deal.
