Sheriff Dart - Hypocrite
- It is not unusual for a sheriff to be carrying a gun. In fact, it would be expected in some places.
But when Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart recently started carrying one on his belt, it was a bit unusual. So WBBM [...] asked him about it.
Dart – a former state lawmaker known for policy as much as anything else — said he’s been getting some unwanted attention, unfortunately.
The sheriff has had his life threatened.
“It’s been impressed upon me that I have five little kids, and I need to be around a bit,” Dart says. “So, I can’t just cavalierly just blow everything off.”
“It’s a little bit of a wake-up call, unfortunately,” he added. “I have no delusions of my abilities.”
The gun goes with the job, he says.
Really? "...no delusions of [your] abilities"? So a gun is an equalizer? You're going to use it to protect yourself and your loved ones should some of these "threats" manifest themselves in some way, shape or form? But regular citizens shouldn't be able to have that same protection, many of whom don't have drivers or bodyguards and happen to work in/travel through/reside in neighborhoods that are far less safe than anything Dart has experienced. What makes you so special Tommy?

Wow, Eddie Burke disease. You nailed it, SCC. It was the first thought I had, reading your post. So, Dart's making his retirement plan, eh, complete with round the clock protection for him and the five little kiddies?
He's also had a manned unmarked squad parked in front of his house for who knows how long. Needs that gun and a full time sheriff sitting in front of his too. But everyone doesn't need that. What a fucking goof.
It's true some people are more important than others. There is only High Sheriff of Cook Co., and millions to THEM. Why they are like ants. So, I guess you could say our sheriff is a VIP and can carry a big gun.
Many of our Western sheriff's wear boots, a big hat and carry a full sized sidearm. How is Sheriff Dart any different?

Why in in the world would Dart bring up his 5 kids in the interview if he was legitimately getting threats. Who does that? This guy is the biggest jackass. He talks about the mentally ill being screened for concealed carry. I want to know who screened him.

It's not safe to allow republicans, conservatives and tea party types to carry a gun. They are all individualistic radicals, not part of the collective. Good democrat leaders need bodyguards and guns to protect themselves, and the collective, from radical criminals.

Tom Dart can carry a gun any time and any where he wants, contrary to what he wants for the citizens of Cook County. And on top of that, since he's "the sheriff," even when off-duty, he can carry that gun into every single venue that is prohibited by law for the common citizen to take their gun.

Mr. Dart (Sheriff by job title only) is a politician that took a law enforcement position. He has no law enforcement training or experience, but politics in Illinois, Cook County, Chicago etal, gave him the position he is unqualified to hold and ineffective to run. He is a politician and a lawyer, neither of which he was good at either but played the political game he now enjoys the spoils of.

What's different is that he's a vocal anti-gunner liberal.
His firearm training came from Fat Pat and his blonde bimbo Fat Ass helper. They did it at Maywood, late at night,when nobody was around to ask any questions....
Tom Dart may be a hypocrite regarding gun control, but he most definitely has been threatened by nut jobs. Most people in these positions do get threats.
Can't blame him for packing.
He just needs to get on the right side of concealed/carry and admit that citizens should be able to carry given the dangers in our communities AND that fact the constitution protects that right.

Mell owned enough guns for an arsenal, but supported restricting the rights of private citizens. Once, Chicago, temporarily reopened its gun registration process, which had been closed, because Dick the hypocrite needed a loophole to cover some guns he wanted to keep, but failed to register.
