30 sgts only....I recognize 5-6 as merit. Could be more but not sure. I was wrong but close. I had heard class of 40 sgts. I knew Rahm would shorten the class. Rahm views everything in $$$$$$. Les sgts promoted less cost. It's really that simple. Also I heard another sgt class of 20 for next year.
Wyberg legit...Cline, not so much.

What happened to the naysayers stating "the list is coming down because the Sup. didn't like the merit selections." Or the "captains" were trying to get the young people in so the list was pushed back.

Scored well? Studied well? They both made it meritorious. Two never been the police, and have been taken care their whole career.
I can only tell u that as of this week there are no more being taken off the Sgt list. Obviously that could be subject to change. Reason class was so small that the super didnt want to go any lower on the list. Lt list is still up.

Spare me the Snelling was a great cop bs. He worked the streets for maybe 2 yrs of his career. Rest has been working out everyday getting on the recruits. Don't et me wrong he's the guy to do it, but a promotion, just like Williams..........com on now. Slap in the face to all the working coppurs out there

The BOTTOM line is we know who the merit hacks were.
The superintendent does NOT have a "merit pick" according to CPD directive Employee Resource
E05-04 entitled 'MERIT BOARD'.
What these slugs do is order an other lower exempt who has a pick to put their guy in.
If you knew your orders perhaps you would have been promoted legitimately off a list.
Wow. These lists will now be expired. Both lists were made to get the last of the clout babies in under the wire. What a joke.
Now let's wait and see where they go after they are promoted. That will tell the truth behind clout.

Wrong on Wiberg. I've seen his letter. He was 4 or 5 out for this class. Cline, don't know. Matt will make a good Lt as will Wiberg.
Leadership isn't measured in a test score. It's what you bring to the table, the intangibles. You might score well but have zero leadership and zero people skills. Wayne scored well and has tremendous leadership ability and excellent people skills. Those two attributes are very important in being a supervisor.
Betz and Johnson are the two merit lieutenants. They were the only two interviewed by the Superintendent.

SW was not a dog in the academy but actually had a positive affect on hundreds of recruits. Someone has to train recruits and he was a excellent trainer and HRI. He promotion is a big loss for the academy. How many working "cops" were trained by SW? This is not a slap in the face but a excellent example of a merit choice.
Without bad bosses -- without merit hacks--- without race promotions-- we could never enjoy the good ones and we would never appreciate them.
Wiberg is by score. How can anyone bash such a great supervisor. Fuck all you haters. He will be a great lt and the dept should promote more like him
